It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 23- The plan

Sidney Crosby invited Kris Letang to talk about the upcoming game. Sid told him the Geno and Flower would be there as well. Nothing seemed suspicious and even with Downie's warning, he went anyway.
Steve Downie was doing to be a little harder to trick. At first Jamie wanted to hit him over the head with a bat, but the others turned that down saying they didn't want to injure him. To get Downie to listen to the guys, it was going to take a couple of them.
Blake Comeau asked Downie if he wanted to get something to eat with a couple of the guys: Nick Spaling, Paul Martin, and Christian Ehrhoff. Without thinking much, Steve Downie agreed to go get food and that put everything in motion.
While those guys where getting those two together, some others were helping Jamie and Brandon at CONSOL. They had three hands combined, they were going to be needing some help.
The plan Jamie came up with sounded crazy to the others but she assured them it would work. She knew this would most likely work because she used it to get Antti Maatta to talk when her lucky puck went missing. It was just that she will need someone to help her with it, other than Brandon.
"OK," Jamie said to Rob Scuderi and Beau Bennett, "When Sid and Blake get dumb and dumber here you two need to help us. It's going to be hard tie them when Suttsy and I only have one pair of hands."
"How do you want us to do this?" Rob asked, not sure how Jamie got him to do this.
"Comeau and Geno are going to blindfold both of them and shove them in here, then you two tie them down to the chairs and high tail it out of here. Brandon and I got it from there," Jamie explained.
"And you are sure this is going to work?" Brandon asked for about the 30th time in the past 30 minutes.
"Bud, these two are not as smart as Antti and I was able to get him to talk, so yes, I think this is going to work," Jamie told him, "Hide, Sid's coming."
"Why do we need to hide," Brandon asked while ducking behind the door.
"Dumb and dumber will know something is up if they see us, now shut up," Jamie hissed.
"Why are we here?" Kris asked.
"And why did Flower just shut the door?" Downie added.
" I just want the both of you to remember that you brought this upon yourselves," Sid said as Scuderi and Bennett jumped out of nowhere.
"What are you two doing?" Kris asked backing up into Geno.
"Helping a idiot friend," Geno said.
"Why?"
"Blackmail."
Within one minute the four hockey players had Letang and Downie blindfolded and tied down to the chairs. 10 seconds later it was just Jamie, Brandon, Steve and Kris in the room, Letang and Downie still blindfolded. Downie was smart enough, or dumb enough to get himself in this situation, to figure out what was going on.
"What are you going to do to us," he asked in the general direction he thought Jamie was.
"Oh, honey, what do you think is going on?" she sweetly asked.
"I think I should have not joined in on this," he stuttered.
"Downs, what is happening, you said they would think it was Flower," Kris said.
"I thought she wasn't going to be smart enough to figure it out, I also thought they wouldn't be able to get the rest of the team involved."
"Just give us the key and we'll let you go," Brandon spoke up for the first time.
"What! NO! We aren't going to let them off that easily, take off their blindfolds," Jamie said.
"Where is the key?" Brandon asked once the two other hockey players could see.
"Funny story," Kris chuckled, "We don't exactly have the key with us."
"What?"
"We kind of gave it to Flower and his little girl took it had hid it somewhere," Downie explained.
"Why did you give it to anyone, especially someone with kids," Brandon said his voice rising some, "I like Jamie and all, but if I have to spend one more day with her, I am going to kill someone."
"If you could just untie us, we'll go get it now," Kris said while pulling at the ropes around his wrists.
"I have a better idea," Jamie said as she pulled out her phone to call Marc and have him get the key from his daughter.
"Jamie, please tell me there aren't two dead bodies and we have to come and clean up your mess."
"No, but there might be, Kris is saying they gave you the key and that your daughter stole it. I'm not buying any of their bull though."
"They never gave me anything."
"Ok, that's all I needed to hear," Jamie said and with that she hung up her phone and turned to the two hockey players. To they they were scared would be an understatement.
It was this going back and forth that finally made Kris cave, "They key is in my stall on the shelf at the back, please don't hurt me."
"Thank you," Brandon said while heading towards Kris's stall.
"Wait, aren't you going to untie us?"
"Not until we get out of these," Jamie said.
"Got it!"
Brandon and Jamie were about to unlock themselves when the door slammed causing Brandon's hand to slip and the key crack. Now, any normal person would have tried to save the key, but because Brandon was stronger than most normal people the key broke all the way. To add onto this already horrible event, the key broke right at the base and it would be useless to try and save. Both hockey players stared at the broken key for five seconds and then screamed and you would have thought someone died.
"What's wrong?" Sid asked concerned.
"Because you baboons barged in here, Brandon's hand slipped and the key broke!" Jamie yelled at her captain.
"Sorry," Sid mumbled.
"And you know what? We wouldn't even be in the situation if dumb and dumber didn't decided to do this to us!" Jamie yelled and eventually fell to the floor and curling up into a ball, burying her head in her knees.
Now, since Jamie got into playing pro hockey, these types of meltdowns have been few and far between. The last one coming a year ago when someone thought it would be funny to steal her lucky puck, the last thing she had of her grandfather,
None of the guys knew what was going on, but Steve Downie got the best idea of what is happening. He bent down in front of his friend and asked, "Jamie, what's going on?"
"That's the thing, I don't know. I'm not use to spending so much time with a single person," she cried.
"Jamie, we're sorry, we didn't this would affect you this much," Downie said.
"Hey kid, have you ever been diagnosed with Autism or something like it?" Craig Adams asked.
"No, I mean I was told I had symptoms like it, but it was never enough to physically diagnose me. Then my father wanted to do stuff to make it better, but my stupid mother wouldn't admit there was something wrong with her already corrupted daughter. She didn't want to admit there was some 'fake' disease in her daughter. She- why didn't I think of this sooner!" Jamie yelled, jerking up causing Brandon's arm to fly up.
"Sure just dislocate my shoulder, why don't you?"
"What?"
"Stand up Suttsy, I know how we can get out of these," Jamie said, pulling Brandon towards her locker. She then then reached up up and found what she was looking for: a bobby pin.
"What are you going to do with that?" Sid asked.
"I'm going to pick this lock, I mean it can't be any harder than a door," Jamie shrugged.
"You almost got it?" Brandon asked.
"Almost, there!" Jamie cheered as her wrist was freed. She then set on unlocking the cuff around Brandon's wrist.
"Finally," Brandon said while rubbing his wrist.
"And everything works out in the end," Kris laughed.
"No, no, no, yinz aren't off the hook that easily," Jamie said.
"What are you going to do?"
That question caused both Jamie and Brandon to smirk, "You have no idea."
