It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 27

"There's my 5th annoying brother!" Jamie yelled.
"5th?" That man being yelled at asked.
"Yeah, it's Xander, Ali, Eero, Malik, then you then Olli," Jamie said.
The person she was talking to was Antti Maatta, Olli's older brother. He was currently in Pittsburgh for school, but Jamie was pretty sure it was to entertain and/or protect his little brother.
"I understood the 5th part, I didn't understand the annoying part. Obviously it's Olli, Malik, Ali, Xander, me then Eero," Antti said.
"Thought you'd put yourself first," Jamie smirked.
"Let's face it, Eero just ignores you most of the time," he said, "Only smart one."
"He does and Hey!"
"Jamie get your ass moving and quite talking to your boyfriend!" Brandon Sutter yelled from across the parking lot.
"Great," Jamie muttered, "Another person they can pretend I hooked up with."
"Do they do that often?" Antti asked as they started walking towards
"Every time they see me with a guy," she said, "What are you doing here anyway?"
"Internship."
"Fun. School. Fun," Jamie said.
"Oh grow up. Not all of us can be professional athletes," Antti said.
"You can if you try very, very hard and believe you can," Jamie said.
"You're weird Jokinen, just plain weird," Antti laughed shaking his head.
"Proud of it!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Spill it, who's the guy," Steve Downie said.
"Jeez Downs, never knew you were a middle school girl at heart. How'd you hide it so long?" Jamie asked already in a bad mood thanks to Flower, but that's another story.
"I'm not a middle school girl. I just worry about the person I think of as a little sister," he said.
"Thanks bud, but I've got enough older 'brothers' to take care of me, 6 to be exact," Jamie said tying her skates.
"Six!"
"Yeah, my brothers and Olli and his two brother, all of them older than me," Jamie said.
"Wait! Maatta's older than you?" Steve asked surprised.
"Yeah, he's two months older than me. He was born August 22, 1994 and I was born October 30, 1994," Jamie explained.
"Never would have thought you were the older one," Downie said.
"Why?"
"You always act like his mom sometimes, that didn't make sense-"
"I'm his younger sister who uses that to my advantage. See you out on the ice!" Jamie call heading out of the locker room.
"You still didn't answer my question!" Steve yelled following Jamie out the door.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Olli Maatta open the door!" Jamie yelled, pounding on Olli's apartment door after practice.
"Why, it sounds like you're going to hurt me," Olli said.
"I need to talk to you," Jamie sang.
"About what?"
"Why you never told me your brother was coming here. Now open the door before I kick it down!" Jamie yelled.
"You wouldn't dare," Olli hissed opening the door.
"Try me."
"Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea," he said.
"Good boy," Jamie said patting his head, "Now, tell me. Why didn't you tell me Antti was here?"
"He told me not to," Olli said.
"Why?"
"Why don't you ask him yourself," Olli said inching closer to his older brother who walked into the room.
"Is Jamie scaring you little brother?" Antti asked laughing.
"Wouldn't she scare you?" Olli asked his laughing brother.
"Yeah, she would."
"Antti, why didn't you ever tell me you were coming?" Jamie asked, she wasn't mad, she just wanted to know.
"It never came up in conversation," Antti said honestly.
"Makes sense, how you liking Pittsburgh?" Jamie asked taking a water out of Olli refrigerator.
"Sure, help yourself Jamie," Olli said.
"Thanks Ol," Jamie said.
"You're welcome bud."
"So, how you liking Pittsburgh?" Jamie asked as the three Finns sat down by the TV.
"It's great. There seems to be a lot to do and so far the food's been great," Antti said.
"Of course you only care about the food," Jamie said.
"Like you're any different? The only thing you cared about when we went to Helsinki was the food," Olli said.
"When did you two go to Helsinki? Wait! are you guys finally dating?" Antti asked.
"NO!" Both of them yell
"We went to see a hockey game 5 years ago." Olli explained.
"Of course you two did," Antti muttered.
The three Finns spent the rest of the night just catching up and talking. It was just like when they were growing up in Finland. Them and Jamie's three brothers would spend summer nights talking around the fire. It was one of the best nights Jamie and Olli have had in a long time, no stress just talking with friends, family in Olli's case.
