The best years of my life

chapter 3: two days after moving to Dallas

It has been two days since I moved here. All I was waiting for was my stuff to be shipped here. I had borrowed Jamie's car and had gotten some things at Wal-Mart, a new bookshelf, and some tampons since it was coming soon. Tyler was home when I got back. He saw my bookshelf and had offered to put it together for me. "I can do it, I'm a McDonagh" He glanced over to Jamie to see if he would help fill in some clues. Jamie simply said "Her Grandparents had owned and operated a construction company back home and she was raised with the "I don't need to look at an instruction manual and I can figure it out myself" mindset. Also, she's not related to Ryan with the Rangers" "Since all the clothes I brought with me in my carry on are currently in the washer, can I borrow a shirt?" I asked "Sure" Tyler said running into his room. "I heard what you told Tyler two days ago about me being off limits. I don't need you to do this, you always do this and you are the over-protective brother that I never had" I had starting off telling Jamie but ended up yelling it at him. He just glanced at Tyler who had ran back downstairs not knowing what he was walking into. "Here's the shirt" said Tyler "Thanks. Where do you keep your screw driver and hammer" I asked "In the toolbox in the garage. I'll get it for you and then I'm gonna go for a drive" Jamie said. "I didn't mean to yell at you, Jamie" I said softly as Jamie slammed the door. ''Was he always over protective of you?" "No, not until middle school when I hit puberty and pretty much every guy was hitting on me or flirting with me" I answered Tyler's question. "When we got into high school, a majority of the guys wanted to sleep with me and since girls found out that he was going places, they had wanted to sleep with him. But he knew me as the ugly duckling and I think he in a way, liked it because when we were walking together or at lunch, people would put a ton of pressure on the both of us to date. And we all know how Jamie is when he's in the spotlight or under a lot of pressure" I had explained. "So, you can put the bookshelf together without without looking at the instructions?" Tyler had asked. "Love, I can put it together in my sleep. Let's do a slap bet." I said "I need to see this. Sure" He shook my hand and started bringing the box upstairs
A couple hours later, Jamie came home and he heard us laughing. He followed the laughter into the guest room. "I told you that I could put this together without the manual. Come here so I can slap you." I told Tyler. That's when Jamie came in and he picked me up and placed me on his shoulders. "I see she did a slap bet with you" he told Tyler "I have to warn you she's got a hell of a slapping hand. Did you tell him about Jenkins?" he asked "No. I didn't see how that was relevant" "Who is Jenkins?" Tyler asked with his eyes darting across the room
