The best years of my life

Chapter 4

“Who is Jenkins?” Tyler kept asking since Jamie and I didn’t answer him. When we both finally calmed down, I said “He was an ex-boyfriend of mine back in high school and he was really controlling. He didn’t want me to see either Jamie or Jordie and we had gotten into a big fight and it ended up breaking us up. I was at his parents’ house and he kept accusing me of cheating on him with both of the Benn men. I had called Jamie and he had heard what Jenkins was calling me, a slut, a whore, a 2 dollar hooker. Jordie went to school with his sister and they were friends for a few years, so Jamie knew where they lived. Within a matter of minutes, Jamie was there and he had gotten in front of me, in case if Jenkins was going to turn physical and hit me. Jamie had picked me up and he knew what I was going to do. The next thing I knew, I slapped Jenkins. Not hard at all, but he had started crying.” Tyler started laughing. “Abby, I want to ask you something” Jamie declared once Tyler left the room. “What is it? You’re scaring me” I told him “Why did you come to Dallas?” he asked. “Tim proposed and I didn’t love him and I felt terrible, but it felt like I was trying to force something that wasn’t there. He ended up giving me an ultimatum; accept his proposal or break up. By the end of the relationship, I didn’t want to be in the same room as him for more than ten minutes. There might have been a time where I would have accepted his proposal two years into the relationship, but I just couldn’t accept it. I felt too guilty. And he had called me after I freaked out and called both you and Jordie and he said that his whole family hated me for not accepting it. I simply told him that I would rather do that then and not get into the wedding planning only to end up calling it off” I told Jamie. “Well, I’m glad that you’re here. Do you want to start making this room your own? The only time Tyler and I really have guests around are the holidays and both of our parents get hotel rooms every time they come here.” He told me. “I want to paint and I’m waiting for some of my things to come here from Boston.” The doorbell rang and Tyler quickly answered it. Jason Spezza and Trevor Daley were at the door. Jason yelled “Benn, we heard through the grape vine that you’re hiding a girl from us” The next thing I knew, Jamie took off and not sure if he wanted me to follow him, I did. “Daddy, I’m not hiding a girl from y’all, she moved here a few days ago and I want to give her some time before I introduce her to the team. Anyway, she’s a girl from home” “He wasn’t hiding me, I had wanted to wait a few days to regroup and then go meet you guys” I said once I got into the living room. “Honey, around here, it’s y’all not you guys” Jason said. “It’s Abby, right?” Trevor had asked, and I then realized that he was still in the room. “Hi, Abby I’m Jason. But my nickname is Daddy. Feel free to call me that, if you want to” Jason said, taking my hand and kissing it. “I’m gonna call you Jason, I’m not into that whole daddy kink” I said back. The guys started laughing. The doorbell rang again. I looked at the four of them and said “who else is coming over today?” “No one” they all said. I then saw the Fed-Ex truck outside and some of my stuff from Boston had starting coming here.
The next thing I knew, they had started bringing up my boxes and started helping me unboxing everythig, even though I didn't want them to"
