Quick Flicks

Lights Out

I walked through the door, snow trailing from my boots and covering my body. Even with my boots, mittens, scarf, and long down coat, I was still frozen.

The winter in Victoria was always brutal, but the storm today was particularly rough. The roads were getting slippery and our driveway hadn't been plowed, so I knew we'd have to prepare for a long night. I had had a ton of errands to do today and a meeting today, so I'd been up since 6:00 and was ready to sleep for a week.

I ripped my accessories off, setting them in front of the heater, placed my boots on the mat, and hung my damp coat up on the hook, shivering in my leggings and gray thermal shirt. My socks were soaked from the snow that had seeped into my boots, so I had laid them on the mat, as well.

I scampered up the stairs, my bones aching from the chill and my muscles tired. I stripped and hopped into the shower, turning the dial all the way to the left and sighing as the scalding water warmed my frozen skin. I eventually turned it down a bit, but I still relished in the cocoon of steam that surrounded me. I quickly washed my hair and body, focusing more on warming myself up than cleaning my skin.

I was met with the arctic air as I quickly wrapped my towel around, shuffling down the hall into Jamie and my room, digging through the drawers for the perfect outfit. I grabbed a pair of sweatpants from college, a polka-dotted pair of fuzzy socks, and sports bra. I opened one of Jamie's drawers and pulled out one of his Stars sweatshirts, which was lined in thick fuzzy, fleece and felt like heaven. After running a comb through my hair and throwing it into a bun, I tossed my towel in the hamper and headed downstairs. I tiptoed through the kitchen, searching for Jamie. From the sounds coming from the basement, I assumed he was down there.

We had finished our basement and created a cozy, movie den. Neither Jamie nor I were big on going out, so we both agreed this was a good idea and had an awesome time designing it together, stalking up on our favorite movies. I had made sure to buy the comfiest pillows and blankets possible.

"Babe?" Jamie looked over his shoulder as he heard my feet hit the floor, presumably hearing my still-chattering teeth, as well. "I didn't know you were home."

"Yeah, I pretty much booked it for the shower as soon as I got here."

"Is it bad out there?" Our basement didn't have windows, and judging from Jamie's position on the couch, he hadn't been up in a few hours. I nodded, walking around the couch to stand in front of him, as he sat forward and wrapped his arms around me, resting his chin on my stomach and looking up with puppy-dog eyes. He didn't even try to give me that look, his beautiful eyes just did it on their own, and it got us both in trouble quite often.

"It wasn't slowing down at all, last time I checked. And the wind's picked up so I was pretty much trapped in a snow globe." I ran my fingers through his hair, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead. "It's freezing out there. I'm never going outside again. Ever. I don't know how you spend almost everyday on ice. I'd die for sure." Jamie laughed and hid his face in my- well, his- sweatshirt.

"Um, it's a little different on the ice than it is in a blizzard, hun. Plus, you're not a big, strong man like me." I burst out laughing, as did Jamie. He may be tough on ice, but he melted into a puddle as soon as he stepped off of it. He couldn't hurt a fly.

"Yeah, bud, you keep telling yourself that." I sat down next to him and laid my head in his lap, as he begun stroking my hair. "Now warm me up."

"Well, I see you already stole my sweatshirt. But, I'll try to help otherwise." Jamie grabbed a blanket and threw it around me. I sat up to lean into his side, nestling close. I felt his hands slip under my shirt.

"Whoa-"

"Hey, you know what they say: skin-to-skin contact is the best way to get warm." I looked up at him and rolled my eyes, noticing his hands hadn't moved. I sighed, stretching closer so that I could reach his lips.

"Well, if it's science..." We met for a kiss, deep and passionate, his hands playing up and down my torso. As we continued our kiss, I felt his hands dip lower, pushing past the band of my sweatpants. I pulled away and turned back to face the TV, watching "Shutter Island" as it played on the screen. Jamie groaned and watched, as well.

We sat next to each other, watching the movie in silence for a while. I noticed Jamie reach over and move the pillows around, before moving to lay on his side, leaving me alone. He raised his eyebrows and gestured to the empty space in front of him. I crawled over to fill it in, his arms wrapping around me as he took over his job as the big spoon.

He was the perfect teddy bear. With his arms around me, I felt safe from everything. His strong arms held me close and his steady breathing kept me calm.

I heard Jamie's breathing hitch for a moment, as I wiggled myself around in an attempt to get comfortable. I moved myself so I was pressed flush against his front, absorbing as much warmth as possible and attempting to find the perfect position.

"If you keep doing that, we're not gonna make it through the movie." I giggled at Jamie's comment, stopping my movements and returning my attention to the movie.

I felt Jamie's hand sneak under my sweatshirt, his fingers trailing softly up my side. His touch sent shivers down my spine. His hand moved further up, cupping my breast. I paid back his movement by wiggling myself again, and I could feel his arousal against my back.

Jamie moved his face into my neck, sighing and then planting kisses softly along the side. The softness drifted away and was replaced by hard kisses, as Jamie sucked and nuzzled my neck. He knew it drove me crazy. I angled my head to give him more access, still holding onto the little attention I was still giving the movie.

I couldn't take it anymore when Jamie continued attacking my neck and moved his hand down to my stomach, spreading his hand across it and pulling me close. I flipped around so I was facing him, moving my leg over his hip and snaking my hands through is hair in attempt to pull him close.

"Mmmm... the movie?" I slipped my words in in between kisses, and Jamie shook his head. He reached onto the arm of the couch to grab the remote, pressing pause and then returning his attention to me.

He rocked himself so that he was over me, shadowing me with his huge body. I reached up and moved my hands under his white t-shirt, which had already moved up a bit. His skin burned and I smiled as it warmed me, although he'd already done a pretty good job of that. He took the hint and pulled it off completely. The space he gave me in doing so allowed me to wriggle out of my sweatpants. Jamie was just lowering himself to me when the place went dark.

"Uh oh." Jamie reluctantly pulled himself off of the couch, feeling for his phone in the dark. When he found it, he turned on the flashlight and reached down to grab my hand, pulling me to my feet. He led me through the dark basement and up the stairs, which were now pitch black as well.

I let go of his hand and ran over to the sliding-glass doors that led to the deck, pressing my face against it to see outside. Jamie opened the door and shone the light outside.

"Shit!" The snow had really piled up and a little had snuck in when he opened the door. Big, fluffy flakes fell and the neighborhood was dark, presumably all without power, as well. I ran to the front door, peering out to see that my car had gotten quite a coating as well. I nearly screamed when Jamie put his hand on my waist, having not heard him approaching. He laughed as I gave him a dirty look and leaned against the door.

"I just texted my parents and they said they don't have power, either. They're not sure when we'll get it back, but hopefully by morning." I nodded and exhaled loudly, already feeling the air getting colder. My eyes had begun adjusting to the dark, so I could see make out Jamie's face as it hovered a few inches from mine.

"Well, that's good. I guess we'll have to light some candles."

"Oh, trying to seduce me, eh?" I playfully punched his arm and walked into the kitchen, hopping up onto the counter and getting on my knees to look through the cabinet for some candles to light.

I grabbed the lighter from the cabinet, as well, and lit two, placing them on the counter next to me just so I could see what I was doing better. I sharp wolf-whistle sounded from behind me, and I turned to see Jamie leaning in the doorway, arms crossed and his eyes on me. I raised my eyebrows and he shook his head, biting his lip and smiling.

"Remind me to let you borrow my sweatshirts more often. Your outfit right now is 10/10." I smiled and laughed, turning back to the job at hand.

"Thanks, Jamie. I'll gladly steal all of your sweatshirts." I made sure to make a show out of reaching up for the candles, the sweatshirt moving up and exposing my barely-covered ass. I heard Jamie's footsteps from behind me and felt his big hands settle on my bottom, wrapping to hold my waist. I looked down at him as I got two more candles.

"I'm just making sure you don't fall."

"Wow, you are so thoughtful! Hope it's not too much of a burden." I wiggled my butt and dug through the cabinets once more before turning around and hopping onto the ground, with Jamie's willing assistance, of course.

He helped me light the remaining candles and we carefully brought them downstairs, setting them around us. Jamie had grabbed his laptop, so we could still watch a movie or something. I grabbed a blanket and climbed onto Jamie's lap, cuddling close.

"So.... what do you wanna do?" I looked up at Jamie.

"Pick up where we left off?"

He didn't give me time to answer as he pushed me off of his lap, laying me down on the couch, and we continued making out like teenagers.
