New Beginnings

Unexpected

I wake up the next morning around 10:00, which is pretty impressive considering I didn't get to sleep until about 2:00. I had been calling around Dallas, setting up job interviews for anywhere that needed an athletic trainer or physical therapist. My first one was tomorrow, at a local high school. Today I planned to drive around and get to know my way around Dallas. I rolled out of bed, and went out to the kitchen, and Marie wasn't there. I figured she was at work or something. I found some cereal in the pantry, and got myself a bowl and went to watch some tv until I finished my cereal.
After I was done eating my breakfast, I went into my rooms, which conjoined with another room, but I didn't open the door. I plug my iHome in and turn on one of my favorite bands, twenty one pilots. I shower, and step back into my room to get dressed. I pick out a cute white crop top with a lace pattern, and my favorite pair of high waisted skinny jeans, so only a small strip of my stomach showed. I grabbed my keys and headed down to the parking garage.
I decide to just start driving around, to see what I can find, and I find a cute little cafe right down the street, and go in. I order a chai spice latte, and a chocolate croissant. I sit alone, facing a window, just watching people walk by. When I see a few familiar faces, followed by a few blonde barbie dolls. I start to get up, but then I remember, the only reason I know him, is because of him. The one I don't ever want to talk about, or even think about. So I stop that train of thought, and head back to my seat, when he looks in at me, and turns around to come into the cafe. I smile at him, and he greets me like we are old friends. "Hey you! What are you doing out here?" He says.
"Looking for work, actually. I just moved down here from Michigan!" I replied. Then suddenly a gaggle of girls filed in, and sat conspicuously close to us. I looked at the girls, then back at my friend, who said, "Just ignore them, they are crazy puck bunnies that follow most of the team. Try and pretend that they're not there. That's what I do." I just give a little nod, and he continues, "So, looking for work? What do you do?" He inquired.
"I'm an athletic trainer/physical therapist. I have a whole bunch of interviews set up for this week!" I tell him, but failing to mention that I have an interview where he works, because if I get the job I really want, then I want it to be because I'm the best person for the job, not because he put on a good word for me. He says,"That's so cool! We have an opening you know..." He trails off. "I know," I say, "I have an interview there. But I wasn't going to mention it." I finish. "Well why not?! That would be awesome if you got it!" He says. "I know it would be awesome! That's why I applied for it! But I want to get the job on my own, so yeah." I tell him. He replied with, "Sure, I get that, but a good word from a few of us will go over well, and we generally meet most of the staff, or potential staff." He informs me, "I have t get going, but text me, or someone, and let me know what's up." And Jamie Benn walked out the door.
