Wildest Dreams

What's Your Name

It was a Saturday evening in Dallas and Tyler and his friends were out at their favorite restaurant and bar, Jumping Jacks, having a good time, hanging out having drinks and dinner. The restaurant was busy, but not too crowded. Tyler was looking around the room taking in all the people who were there, deciding who he was going to possibly spend his night with.

He noticed a few girls there that he had seen before, girls he didn’t care to interact with. Anytime Tyler or his friends were at Jumping Jacks, so was this group of girls. They liked to call the group the Jumping Hoes. One of Tyler’s friends came up with the name when they realized they were puck bunnies and always at Jumping Jacks, a known favorite for many of the Dallas Stars players.

Tyler continued scanning the room and eating his dinner when a friend across the table interrupted his people watching.

Johnny: Find who you’re taking home tonight yet?
Tyler: Nah, just taking in the scenery.
Johnny: Did you see the Jumping Hoes are here?
Tyler: When are they not here? I swear, we can never escape them.
Johnny: That’s why they’re the Jumping Hoes. Always at Jumping Jacks, always hoes.

Tyler laughed and picked up his drink to take a sip.

Tyler: And what if I don’t want to take anyone home tonight? I have practice in the morning.

Another one of Tyler’s friends who was sitting right next to him chimed in.

Jamie: That’s never stopped you in the past.
Tyler: What if I’m just not in the mood tonight?
Jamie: Yeah, okay, and I’m not in the mood to play hockey anymore.
Tyler: Its too close to the holidays, girls get too attached at this time of year. It’s not worth it if I have to avoid a situation I don’t want to be in.
Jamie: I think you’re sick and I need to take you home. Let me feel your forehead to see if you have a temperature.
Tyler: Fuck off. I’m fine.
Johnny: Someone is in a mood.
Tyler: Who’s going to throw and drink in your face tonight? The blonde over there or the red head by the bar?
Johnny: I don’t always get drinks thrown in my face.
Jamie: Yeah you do.
Johnny: Not tonight.
Jamie: Going for a Jumping Hoe tonight?
Tyler: They won’t throw a drink in your face, I can guarantee that.
Johnny: You guys are dicks.
Jason: They’re just trying to help you out. The Jumping Hoes are all yours.

The group of guys continued to hang out and have a couple of rounds. Tyler started looking around again when a brunette with deep blue eyes and a genuine smile who was sitting at the bar with some friends caught his attention. She was laughing along and talking to her two friends, she wore skinny jeans with ankle boots and a black blouse with rhinestones around the collar. Her outfit looked effortless but put together as if it was just another night of going out to dinner with friends. She sat back and listened to her friends’ stories and smiled anytime the waiter would ask her if she needed anything and was more attentive than her friends. She had a grace about her as she ate her Alfredo pasta even though it was a very messy dish. She finished her meal and the waiter took her plate. She took a sip of her lemonade and waited for her friend to finish her story before she spoke. She was unaware of how crowded the restaurant had gotten and who was around her, as her back was towards the majority of the people. Tyler had zoned out and not heard the conversation that was being held at the table.

Jason: Hello, earth to Tyler. Tyler!
Jamie: TYLER
Tyler: Huh, what?
Johnny: Did you hear anything we were just talking about?
Tyler: Yeah, I did.

Tyler was still staring off towards the bar at the brunette.

Jason: Care to add your opinion?
Tyler: Huh, no, I’m just listening.
Jason: Since when do you just listen and not put in your two cents.
Jamie: Are you sure you’re not sick?
Tyler: I’m fine.
Johnny: So as I was saying, I don’t want one of the Jumping Hoes. They’re all fucking nuts and just want you three.

Tyler leaned towards Jamie.

Tyler: Who’s that girl over there at the bar? The brunette in the black.
Jamie: How the fuck am I supposed to know?

Tyler kept watching the brunette and didn’t respond to Jamie.

Jamie: I thought you weren’t taking anyone home cause girls are too clingy during the holidays.
Tyler: Never said I was taking her home. Just asked who she was.
Jamie: Go talk to her and find out.

Tyler stood up from the table and headed towards the bar. There was an empty barstool next to the brunette that he planned to sit in.

Johnny: Where is he going?
Jamie: Who the fuck knows. He’s being weird tonight.
