Its Going Down On Your Birthday

After I had a pity party for myself and I realized that I fucked up in the worst way possible, I am finally out of bed again with one of the worst headaches I have ever had. I look at the time and it is ten thirty, which means that I only have an hour and a half to clean up, find an outfit and come up with the best way to apologize to James about last night.

I walk into the bathroom to turn on the shower, take off my clothes and step in. As I let the warm and soothing water run down my body I just let my mind wonder a while. Once I am done with my shower I step out, put on my robe, dry my hair and brush my teeth. I walk out the bathroom and head straight to the closet to find something to wear. After taking a while to choose, I finally decided on a white low v-neck shirt and dark jeans. I brush my hair and decide not to put on any makeup because I know there will be tears sooner or later.

I go downstairs and I go over to the oven and put on the tea kettle, and while that is heating up I am gonna try to find something good to watch on tv.
After a few minutes of channel flipping and cleaning up a bit, I hear the high-pitched whistling of the kettle and I grab a peppermint tea bag out the container from the pantry placing it in my mug pouring the hot water in letting it set. I take my tea into the living and curl up on the couch with Nixon and a random show on as background noise, as I check my phone and I have a text message from Paul.

Paul - hey. well be over in a few minutes.
Me - Okay. :)

Wow!! That moment came a lot faster than I wanted it to. I take a deep breath and run my hand through my hair, and in all that time since Sid left this morning until now and I still don't have a clue on what I am going to say to James. I hear my phone ringing and it's Rebecca.

"Hey Becks!!"

"Hey what's going on?"

"Nothing much just chilling on the couch with Nixon."

"Awe fun!! Have you talked to any of my brothers? I haven't been able to since I left for Vancouver and they left early this morning so they should be there within the next forty - five minutes to an hour at the most."

"Nope, which is weird but, James is on his way back from Pauls since he spent the night there and I guess I will see the others pretty soon."

"Ohh. Do I want to know what happened?" She asks with a bit of curiosity.

"Ummm....I would say no."

"Oh okay. I miss you so much and give Nixon a kiss for me!!"

"I will and I miss you too."

"Alright I'll talk you later."

"Okay bye."

I hang up and set my phone on the coffee table while petting Nixon's back and kissing the top of his nose. I hear a car pulling up in the driveway and its Paul's dark grey Audi and my heart starts to race and I am trying to pull all of my thoughts together and playing it cool. I hear the front door unlock and open with Nixon's ears perking up, hopping down off the couch to greet James and I hear the boys go into the kitchen.

To make the first move or not to make the first move, then moments later I hear footsteps.

"Hey!!" James says walking into the living room.

"Hi!!" I say with a tight lip smile.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Just relaxing. What's up with you?"

Nothing much. I'm gonna go take a shower."

"Okay." James rubs the back if his neck and heads upstairs and I am left on the couch with Nixon and Paul comes in take a seat at the other end.

"So what is going on? How was the rest of your night?" Paul asks me just as he is on his phone texting away, which I can have a good feeling that he is texting Maddie.

"Not much umm....I got some cleaning done this morning and last night didn't go the way I wanted it to but its all good. How was the rest of your night?"

"Well considering what I had to deal with, you should owe me a breakfast."

"Oh wow!! That bad huh?" I ask.

"No, I wouldn't say that it was just a lot.

"Oh gotcha, he can be like that sometimes when he is drunk." As I get more comfortable on the couch.

"Oh yeah, when he walked out of the V.I.P. room I could tell he was upset. So, I followed him out and he saw the puck slut on the way and told her off for a while." I show a small smile.

"After all of that, we both got back to my house and went to sleep."

Wow!! Hearing that makes me so happy. Knowing that James told her off as well hopefully she will take a fucking hint, but we still have to talk so, I don't know if I am ready for what he has to say but knowing what I know now its gonna be telling him about me and Sid that much harder. Hoping that Paul doesn't have to have one of those nights again I will make it up to him. We both get up and go into the kitchen. I open the finally stocked fridge grabbing items and placing them on the counter while Paul takes a seat.

A few minutes later I hear James coming down the stairs and he is on the phone. He comes in kisses me on the cheek, grabs some food, and sits down next to Paul.

"Who was that?"' I ask taking a sip of my peppermint tea.

"My parents. They said that they would be here later today, so we can go to dinner."

"Oh awesome!! Where are we going?"

"Hyde Park and then maybe Mullen's for a drink or two."

"Okay fun!! Has anyone called or texted you yet?"

"Oh yeah and Mike is supposed to call me when everyone is coming down so we can hang out together."

"Oh okay cool." As I wash my mug and put it away. I see James look down at his phone and he doesn't look happy right now.

"Well that was him and they can't make it."

"Awww I am so sorry baby." I say as I wrap my arms around his waist.

"Yeah sorry man." Paul says.

"It's okay. They'll be here for the start of the season so it's all good." James says after taking a sip of juice.

"Alright, well I'm gonna get going. I got a date tonight." Paul says as he stands up from his chair.

"Oh fun!! Tell Maddie I said hi." I say with a chuckle and Paul gives me a look of 'how did you know?'

"Will do!!" He leaves and James and I go sit on the couch.

I still don't know what I am going to say to him and I kinda wish Maddie hadn't left so quickly but, I know she is super excited about her date with Paul, so I will let her have her fun. As James and I are cuddling on the couch I feel his phone buzz by my ear and I am getting a facetime call. James gets up and takes his call into the kitchen with Nixon following him and I answer Maddie.

"Hey girl!! Are you excited for tonight?"

"Yeah, but I think I'm more nervous than excited right now just because I don't want to do or say anything wrong and I still have so much time to kill and I have no clue what to wear!!! As she is showing me her outfit options for tonight.

"Awe sweetie, you will be fine!! Just be your sweet self and everything will go well. I'd go with the teal and white shirt but, id wear those black pants because its semi-formal so if you two decide to go out somewhere you won't have to change at all."

"Oh okay good call. Flats or heels??"

"Flats and also light makeup and jewelry too."

"Gotcha!!" I can still sense that Maddie is still nervous for this date tonight.

"Just relax. He likes you and you know that I will be here if you need me." I tell her with a reassuring smile.

"I know and thanks."

"No problem love. I'll talk to you later."

"Alright. I love you."

"Love you too."

We both hang up and as soon as I put my phone down I hear James and a few others from the front door so that tells me that his brothers and his friend are here, so I look up to see him with Mike, Peter, Nick, and someone who I haven't seen before while I am saying hi to everyone.

"Babe this is Dave!! We played in Oshawa together."

"Hi!! Nice to meet you. How was the trip down?" I say as I shake his hand.

"Hey!! Nice to meet you too and the trip was good."

"There was a girl who was at a rest stop that he was trying to hit on too." Peter added. Then Mike and Nick start mock whistling and cat calling.

"She was hot!! I had to take my shot when I had the chance. Dave says shrugging his shoulders and the laughing continues, something tells me she was not that hot to begin with.

"So, what are you guys gonna do today?"

"Whatever this guy wants to do!! As I see Michael tlit his head toward James.

"Well, do you want to grab a bite and go from there?"

"Sounds good to me." Dave says nodding his head and the siblings agree as well.

"Are you coming with us babe?" James asks me with a charming smile.

"As much fun as that is going to be I can't. I say as I am touching his knee. "I am going to be in my closet for the next seven hours trying to find the perfect outfit for dinner tonight. You guys have fun!!" He pouts but I give him a kiss on the cheek. We all stand and head to the door.

"Ill call you when we are on our way back." As James and the boys are getting into the car.

"Okay. Love you."

"Love you too."

I see that the car is out of sight so I get back in the house, grabbing my phone and heading upsatirs to my bedroom going straight to the closet. Maybe I will figure out what to say to James while finding an outfit. We will see.

I am so sorry for the super long wait. I just gotta stop being lazy and speaking of lazy lol...Happy Birthday to James Neal!!! I hope he had an amazing day. :)
