It might be the way that you're always staring at me If I stay or if I go and risk everything
I convinced myself that I'm brave enough for all of this well, I spent this whole year in airports and the floor feels like home
Flashback to the Summer of 2009 Maggie and Tom are at a party in a friend's backyard for Canada Day
Tom's POV
"You need to ask her out before some other asshole does and they get married and have stupidly cute babies" Matt told me "You've liked her for how long?" Bryan asked "A while, since we were kids. But she doesn't feel the same way" I told them "Yeah, she does, why do you think none of her relationships last longer than a year? She wants to date you, you fool. Go make a move before Chris does" Chris was a new friend to the group and there was something about him that didn't sit right with me, like he was only apart of the group to date the girls of the group. I saw him approaching Maggie, who had a drink in her hand. He said something to her and she dumped the drink all over him. I turned around to glance at Matt and Bryan. "What did he say to you?" I asked her. "He wanted to see my 'Oh Canada' face and wanted to know if I sang 'Oh Canada' when I come. Hence the drink all over him" I couldn't help but laugh. "Well, Papa Ryan would have called that an under reaction" "He says that every time I don't get into a physical fight with someone, to be fair" And that was when I knew I had to man up and convince myself that I had to ask her, knowing that it was now or never. "Hey, Maggie, are you busy this weekend?" "I do have this thing on Saturday." "Maybe" "Its dinner with you, Tom." "What time do I need to pick you up?" "I'll pick you up at 7. You can pick me up next week" "Are you sure that you'll have a good time that you'll wanna see me next week?" "You're my best friend, Tom. Of course"
