Cams POV

“Cam” he repeated.

“Jordie.” I repeated back.

“Can we talk?”

James stepped in, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“James, I’ll be fine. Jordie wasn’t the one who hurt me.”

“Fine but if you need anything, anything at all call me.” he kissed my forehead, threw one more unsure look at Jordie and walked back into the stairwell to his floor.

I let Jordie inside my apartment and we sat on opposite sides of the couch.

“Well….”

“I wanna know why you won’t contact Jamie.”

“Ah, ‘course that's the reason you're here. You always cared more about your brother than your sister. I guess what they say is true, bros before hoes.”

“That's not it Cameron. He’s just really tore up about this and you won’t even let him apologize.”

“There should be nothing to apologize for… no one should leave their 14 yr old sister to fend for themselves while her only other family is living in a different COUNTRY!!!!”

“Your right. But either way it still happened and we’re trying to fix it, so please, let us try.”

“I don't know Jordie. It’s gonna take some time, but I might be willing to hear Jamie out. Just not yet. Give me some time.”

“Sure, my number’s on the card, text me when you're ready.”

He handed me a card and I watched as he got up and left through the door. Gone as fast he came.

I opened my phone to text James:

To James<3 From Cameron
He’s gone.

To Cameron From James<3
Be right there.

Two minutes later I heard a knock on my door. I told James it was open and watched as he came cautiously into the apartment. He approached the couch and held out his arms. I jumped into them as I started to cry.

“Shhhhh. What's Wrong?” I heard him ask.

“After so long without a family, the thought of being so close is tearing me apart. What if they leave like before?” I managed to sniffle out.

“It doesn’t matter, you’ll have me either way, ok? I won't leave”

"Don't make promises you can't keep, James."

"I'm not. When I make a promise, I keep it."

I just nodded my head in response. It was barely 12 o'clock but it was already one of the most stressful days of my life.

James POV

We curled up on the couch and spent the rest of the day just cuddling and watching bad sitcoms. I wasn't letting this girl go. Not for the life of me. I was keeping that promise. And no one was gonna change that.

We were scheduled to play the Vancouver Canucks at home the next day.

After the game, which we won 2-1, me and Cam were walking to my car in the parking garage when I heard a voice ask, “You weren’t seriously gonna leave without saying 'hi' were you?”

I watched as Cam’s entire face lit up and she ran into the guy's arms for a hug, “RYAN!!!!”

Ryan freaking Kesler was hugging MY girlfriend.

‘God, how many hockey players did she know? Is Gretzky gonna pop out from behind my Porsche? Hell, let's just throw in Ovechkin for the fun of it..'

My thought were interrupted when I heard Ryan respond, Rony, it’s great to see you!!”

‘Eww. Pet name. I wonder how close Ryan and Rony were.’

I scowled at the thought.
