Chapter 35

Within a month they quickly found themselves a week and a half to the wedding and packing for Vegas, for the NHL Awards as Jamie was up for The Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay. Thankfully Jamie had gotten a penthouse booked, as his Bachelor was going to be the night after the awards, and Emily was jetting off to Miami the next day, so it wasn’t going to be a crazy night out.

“I just want this next week and a bit to fly by.” She sighed, laying out on their pool deck.

“Are you getting nervous?” Shadi asked Emily.

“A little bit. Not like cold feet or anything. Just being up there in front of 150 people is slightly intimidating.” Emily laughed.

“All you’ll see is him. You’ll be fine.” She knew Shadi was rolling her eyes at her cousin.

“I also just want to be in the Maldives.”

“I’m jealous. Any room for your cousin?” Shadi laughed,

“I really don’t want you to see my husband naked thank you very much.”

“I can’t even grimace at that thought because Jamie is a very attractive man.”

“Why do you think I’m marrying him. It’s not personality I’m going for.” Emily said sarcastically, “you’ve got a good looking one too. He comes over after Miami correct?”

“Yeah, Oliver does. He’s been asking me to move in.” Shadi glanced at her cousin.

“What?” Emily sat up and looked at her cousin.

“Yeah. I think I’m gonna do it.” Shadi smiled.

“If it feel right girl it feels right. I wouldn’t even think about marriage with a guy after 3 years of dating until I met Jamie.”

“Huds has a new man too.”

“I knew it.”

“She’s bringing him next week.”

“Do you know any other information?”

“He’s a bit older. Wealthy, that’s it.”

“As long as he treats her well.”

“You know she doesn’t tell you this stuff because she’s afraid she won’t have your approval.”

Emily was the oldest out of the five of them, there wasn’t much of an age difference between Shadi and herself, about a year between them. Alex, her brother came along 2 and a half years later. Shadi’s brother Raff was 3 years younger. Huda was the baby, she was 4 years younger then Emily, and both girls looked up to her, and was compared to her until she started dating Jamie.

A nice Persian boy, or Mediterranean mixed boy, was what her grand parents wanted. Her dad won them over by being half Greek, Jamie was as Anglosaxon as they came, despite his dark features. He wasn’t a businessman, a doctor or a pilot. But a hockey player. Someone who definitely wasn’t Emily’s type to begin with.

Professional athletes weren’t something the family wanted unless is was bred into them. Emily was the closest to becoming pro, even if it was rugby and not soccer. Alex was a great wrestler, but never caught on past high school.

Jamie and Emily just clicked, his positive attitude and laid back personality clicked with her OCD and bossiness. And he was smart too, and not just hockey and baseball smart. He brought her back to earth.

He won the family over by talking to them one on one. And if that didn’t work he won them over when he stepped up to the plate after her accident, proving he could take care of her.

She clicked with his family immediately, once they knew she wasn’t after him for his money. They knew as soon as she chirped him in a family setting she was one of them.

“I love her dearly, and support her 100%. She’s coming out of her shell now and it makes me so happy.” Emily sighed.

“I love that she’s starting to explore her tastes. She’s definitely using those laser treatments we got her.”

“Huda Lashgari: Babe status. She always had the nicest rack too out of us.”

“We’re getting those puppies out in Miami.”

“Yeah we are!” Emily shouted as they started to laugh.

“Babe! What suit should I pack for Veggy?” Jamie shouted from the closet as Emily snuggled up with a book in bed.

“The black Balenciaga, with the black skinny tie and the white button down with the collar.” She decided.

Jamie would have hm and ha’ed over something to wear all night like he usually did, Emily was the decision maker for stuff like this. That’s why she was paid the big bucks to do it professionally.

“And that’s why you picked out the tux’s.” He laughed.

“I didn’t make the ultimate decision, I just helped.” She shrugged.

“What dress are you wearing?”

“My orange Herve.” She said quietly as she came into the closet.

“That dress does things to my brain.” Jamie shook his head.

“I know. That’s why I’m wearing it. So you remember what your going to be marrying during your bachelor party.”

“I’m marrying a hot piece of ass with a brain.” He lifted her up by the butt so she was higher then him, wrapping her legs around his waist.

“Prince Charming sweeps me off my feet again.” She rolled her eyes at him.

“You better watch that sarcasm Mrs. Benn.” He gave her a light slap on the ass.

“Still going to be a Rankin for a few more weeks, at least until we get back from Hawaii.” She grinned, giving him a kiss.

“Where have you got that dress of yours hiding?”

“I’m not telling you for that specific reason! You’ll go looking for it and that’ll ruin the surprise.” She laughed.

“I’ll get it out of you.” He kissed her neck, carrying her to their bed.

“Good luck. It’s not even in the house.” She gloated as he threw her onto the bed.

“Smart girl. In the guest house?”

“Not on the property.”

“Oh getting creative are we? It’s at the office isn’t it?” He pulled at the draw string on her linen shorts.

“Jamie Benn if you think sex is going to get it out of me you are horribly wrong.” She sat up.

“Who said I was going to do that?”

“The look in your eye for one. Jamie it’s a surprise, for everyone. I want your jaw to be on the floor.”

“My jaw falls on the floor every morning when I wake up and look at you, drool and all.”

“Jamie, this is different.”

“I know. You know I’m just doing this to wind you up right.”

“And do you know how annoying it is.”

“I do. That’s why I do it. I’ve had 27 years of winding up my older siblings, and it’s so easy to get you wound up. I can’t wait to see you in your dress next week. I can’t wait to be officially married to you.”

“You know if we have a daughter, you are going to be the dad that all her friends have a crush on.”

“I’m gonna be the cool dad.” He laughed, sitting on the bed.

“Just the tattoos and the fact that you are a professional hockey player. I wouldn’t push it past that for the cool factor.” She grinned.

“Says the one that’s marrying me.”

“I’m just marrying you for your looks.” She said dryly.

“That’s mean!” He pouted.

“See you get all pouty when I wind you up. It’s a two way street Jamie Benn.” She laughed, sitting up and straddling him.

“I’m so excited to marry my best friend.” He kissed her again.

“10 more days till you are officially my husband. 12 days till we go to Bora Bora. 2 months we can start for a baby.”

What he didn’t know is she actually had her IUD out the week prior, and she already had her period. She was going to tell him their wedding night they could start trying ASAP. She’s told him a few times to pull out and come on her, which was something that never happened, but he was into it.

“I can’t wait to see you pregnant again.”

“I was barely showing.”

“I saw the difference.”

“I got a little hairier, my boobs and ass got bigger.”

“I love your big ass.” He grabbed each cheek.

“I’m glad someone does. Remember how badly you wanted me the night you met me.”

“Oh man I had a semi the moment I laid eyes on you. I’m glad I lost you that night, or else we wouldn’t be here.”

“You don’t know that.”

“I don’t know that, but I do know the man upstairs works in mysterious ways.”

***

With officially in the single digits, they were on a plane to Vegas for the NHL awards. The first night they would get relatively settled in, have dinner with friends and then the next night would be the ceremony.

Emily would fly out the next day to Miami for her bachelorette while he had his bachelor party there. Managing to get an early check in, they dumped their bags, changed and made their way to the pool.

“We should just elope while we’re here.” He suggested quietly.

“Jamie. You can wait nine days.” She said flatly.

He couldn’t wait. He was going to be like a kid on Christmas. She knew he was going to be buzzing right up until she walked down the isle. He was going to cry, he knew it. She knew it too. He was going to get overwhelmed with emotion, see her and just bawl. They both were going to.

“I really can’t. I honestly want to go to bed early and sleep in really late just to make the days fly by.” He pulled her into him, the water making it effortless to have her in his arms.

“You know how much that’ll fuck your body up right?” She wrapped her legs around his waist.

“I know. But I’m just excited.” He kissed her.

“I know your excited. I have a few things to give you that night.” She grinned.

“Really!? I have a few wedding presents too for you.” He smiled back at her, “what are they?”

“Jamie! You need to stop. If you can wait on Christmas and your birthday, you can certainly wait for the wedding.”

“But Christmas and my birthday come every year, weddings only happen once in a lifetime.” He winked.

“You are honestly such a child.” She laughed, “did you remember to put sunscreen on?”

“Am I getting pink?”

“Just a bit.”

“I must have. That means I should probably go inside. Mum and dad will be here soon.”

“9 more days, Jamie. 9 more days.”

He knew she was just as excited, but she was also anxious. She had a lot on her shoulders, planning and finalizing 80% of the wedding. He knew it was going to be worth it. He was going to surprise her with massages as soon as they got to Bora Bora.

He had a few more other surprises up his sleeve for her too.

“What’s left to do before the wedding?” Jenny asked at dinner.

“I’ve got a manicure and pedicure booked two days before. I’m getting my hair cut and coloured the same day. We’re getting massages. Jamie’s got a few tee times. We have to confirm final numbers with the caterer. My dress arrives on Monday for one last fitting and we are good to go.” Emily explained.

“Your dress is still in New York?” Jamie asked her.

“Yup, just for the simple fact you would peek.” She grinned at him.

“Smart girl. Because he would.” Heather laughed.

He knew getting picked on will happen, it always happens.

***

Her part in Vegas flew by. Jamie drove her with a rental to the airport where she was flying straight to Miami. This would mark the first time being separated since the season ended.
She hated saying bye to him during the season, even more in the off season.

“I’ll miss you.” He said quietly at the check in counter.

“I’ll miss you too. I’ll be home in two days though.” She kissed his nose.

“Be safe tonight.” He tangled his fingers in her hair.

“You too babe.” She smiled as he pressed his forehead to hers, “and behave.”

“Look who’s talking.” He laughed.

“You know I’ll get blackout and not move the next day. It my last bender.”

“Oh I’ll show you a bender.” He winked at her.

“Is that how you talk to your soon to be wife?” She giggled.

“She loves it when I do talk to her like that.”

“I’ve got to go babe. I’ll call you when I land.”

“I love you.” He kissed her.

“I love you too.” She smiled into the kiss before departing.

She was meeting Shadi and Jess at Miami international as their planes were landing at the same time.

Within a few hours of landing they were checked in and on their way to the beach. Jess, Jenny, Shadi, Huda, Calin, Stephanie and herself were already drinking by the time 6:00 rolled around, and probably close to drunk by 8:00.

The girls were determined to make it till at least 2:00 AM, considering the night clubs were open until 5:00 AM. She knew the availability and temptation for cocaine would be strong, to keep the party going till 5 AM. Shadi, Calin and Steph would snort it in a heartbeat with her. But Jenny being Jamie’s sister, and she knew his view on drugs, it wasn’t going to happen. And Jess was well informed on the battle as well.

She had her sparkly shorts on with a white tank top to combat the Miami humidity and heat, she made sure all the girls were wearing cowboy boots. And they made sure she was wearing the tackiest Bride to Be stuff.

Emily couldn’t remember much past 12:30, just bits and pieces but she woke up in her hotel room next to Huda. She knew she behaved last night cause if she had done coke she would have remembered the night.

Huda’s fake eyelashes were not on her eyes, but rather on her cheeks and forehead, and it was quite comical as it seemed like neither of them washed their make up off before going to bed. Emily’s were on the pillow cases.

“Huds. You alive?” She asked quietly, pulling her cousin into the little spoon.

“Fuck off.” Huda grumbled.

She giggled to herself as she heard her phone ring. Knowing it was Jamie she rolled out of bed with her duvet wrapped around her and stepped out onto the balcony.

“Hey baby.” She drawled out quietly, realizing she was on FaceTime.

“You are alive.” He laughed.

“I’m still drunk. How are you feeling?” She laughed.

“Great. We were back by 10 because Kory got food poisoning.” He rolled his eyes.

“Are you going golfing?” She noted his golf shirt.

“Yeah. A round of 18ers and then the plane home.” He smiled.

“How’s Kory?” She asked.

“He’s been shitting his brains out all night. He’s gonna stay here while we play. What room do you want him going into when we get home?”

“Pool house.” She said without missing a beat.

“How are you going to become a mum with a stomach like that?”

“You get used to it. I can clean up Bailey’s poop no problem.”

“I love you.” He said quietly, clearly because he wasn’t alone, one of the other guys were up.

“I love you too. This time next week we’ll be in The Maldives.”

“10 days there, another 5 in Hawaii and the rest of the summer in BC. It’ll be nice to finally have a summer that we can enjoy.”

“Last summer we were both off and it was enjoyable.”

“Last summer you were taking care of me remember.”

“And I enjoyed that too. I take care of you all the time.”

They both fell into a comfortable silence.

“You were such a bro when I first met you.” She sighed.

“How was I a bro? Am I still a bro? You haven’t taken my balls yet, still got a couple of days left before you officially take them.”

“Your long hair, the way you talked, you dressed in fuckboi tanks and wore this god awful Yankees cap. And you gave me your balls when we moved in together.”

“2013. What a time to be alive.” He laughed.

“Sometimes I miss the long hair.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Just playing with it. It was so soothing.”

“I can grow it back out you know.”

“I prefer it short though. You look more mature.”

She could see him blush on the camera as he gave a sheepish smile.

“I should let you go so you can go golfing. I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow babe.”

“I love you too. Feel better.”

“I’ll try.” She winked at him before hanging up.

A few hours later, after a few well deserved mimosas were downed with some fresh fruit, they were on a catamaran, sunbathing. She loved the humidity, and the sun. She missed living somewhere coastal.

If the day did ever come and Jamie was traded, she could imagine him going to Vancouver, to be close to his family, or somewhere else coastal. Just not the North East. As much as he would look good in a Boston jersey, Jamie would hate the cold.

Dallas was their Home though. As much as they missed the beach, they had it good in Dallas, getting married just outside of Dallas. Their babies would be born there. They had friends outside of hockey in Dallas. Dallas was home.

***

Hearing the girls come in full of giggles he assumed they were either well recovered from their hang overs or they were drunk.

Bailey sensed the excitement and starting barking as he ran toward them, knocking Emily over as he jumped on her, still not realizing how big he was at two years old.

Walking around the corner he found his fiancé on the floor wrapped up in Bailey.

“Hey baby.” She drawled out as she got up.

“How was your trip?” He asked, giving her a kiss and grabbing her suitcase.

“Quick, but good. I missed you.” She smiled, giving him a quick pinch.

“Is that how today’s going to go eh?” He rolled his eyes.

“We get married in 4 sleeps.” She giggled.

“Can you two get a room? We know you haven’t seen each other in a couple of days but there’s no need to eye fuck each other. In the front foyer.” Jordie groaner coming around the corner to help the girls.

“Darth, we’ve had sex in your room.” Jamie glanced at his brother, Jordie fake gagging as he pushed past them.

“You have to pick up my parents this afternoon.” She noted out to him.

“Yes, I do. What time do they land again?”

“At 3:00, it’s 11:00 now so no rush. I think they left on time from Honolulu.” She yawned.

He noticed how tired the girls actually were. They were giggly cause they were over tired.

“How about you guys have a nap and we’ll finish unloading.” He kissed her forehead.

“I could use a nap.” She sighed, leaning into him.

“Go. I’ll see you in a bit.” He squeezed her.

***

It felt good to be back home in Dallas. She knew she wasn’t really going to have Jamie time until their wedding night. The next couple of days would be filled with late nights and early mornings and packed, absolutely packed days.

By the time she woke up from her nap her parents had arrived and their house just got a little noisier.

Running her fingers through her hair and pulling it up into a bun she got changed into comfy clothes and decided to make an appearance downstairs.

80% of their immediate family was staying at the house. They loved having a full house, but like at Christmas time she knew Jamie would be eager to send everyone home just a few days later.

“What have you got left?” Behar asked Emily as they cleaned up from dinner.

“I have my final fitting tomorrow. You, Heather and all my bridesmaids are coming. I’m getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow, along with a mani pedi. Jamie’s got some work stuff to do pretty much every day leading up to it, negotiations for an extension.” Emily leaned against the counter.

“Extension?”

“A contract extension. Jamie wants to stay, but for the right price.”

“And if he doesn’t get the right price.”

“I don’t know. Vancouver probably. Close to his family, kinda closer to you and Dad. I can’t see us going anywhere though.”

“You’ve built a life here. I can’t believe your getting married.” She saw her mom tear up.

“Trust me. Sometimes I can’t either.” She sighed, pulling her mom into a hug.

“I booked us massages on Wednesday.” She said to Jamie as she sat on their bed.

“I’m probably going to need it after tomorrow.” He sighed, standing in front of her and wrapping his arms around her.

“That’s why I booked it. I know you’re stressing out about the contract extension and the wedding.”

“You’re stressing out about the wedding.” He corrected her.

“I’m stressing out about everything.” She moaned into his chest.

“What else is there?”

“Your contract extension, making sure to keep you focused on training while we’re travelling. Our honeymoon. My job. I’m going to be worried that Bailey’s going to miss us.”

“I put too much on your shoulders when I shouldn’t of. You focus on you, I’ll focus on me. We’re staying in Dallas. Even if I have to take a pay cut, we’re staying. Our kids are going to be born here, we’re going to retire here.”

“Jamie.” She sighed, getting up onto her knees to she could be eye level with Jamie.

“Emily.” He smiled at her.

“Let’s have a baby.”

She saw the curious smile on his face grow into an amused one as he looked down at her stomach, followed by placing his hand over it.

“But you weren’t due to take it out until we got back.”

“I got it out a few weeks ago. That’s why I got my period and asked you to pull out. I didn’t want to get pregnant before we got married, so I could drink, and I was going to save telling you until our wedding night.”

“I love you, so much.” He pulled her into the tightest hug she’s ever been pulled into, making her giggle into his neck.

“I love you too Jamie. I can’t wait for Friday. I also was thinking about changing the format for Friday before the ceremony.” She smiled at him.

“To what?”

“A first reveal. Just you and I, with the photographer.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. I want your initial reaction only seen by me. Because I’m selfish.”

“You know I’m going to cry regardless. I’m a big sap.”

“I know you are. My big sap.”

She saw him blush as he laughed.

“So, uh, about this baby.” He kissed her forehead.

“It’s going to be as cute as you.” She grinned, curling her fingers into his hair.

“I don’t know about that. Surely they’ll have your good looks.” He blushed again.

“But if we want it to happen, I think we need to start getting down to business.” She said as she bit his ear.

“I hope your this naughty in bed when you take my last name.” His hands moved from her back to her butt.

“I don’t know what Emily Benn is going to be like. But she’ll probably be the same.” She laughed, grinding herself into him.

“Man you turn me on. So much.” He groaned, trying to pull her closer. She felt him harden against her.

“Good. Now show me-“ She started to say as he picked her up and tossed her to the head of the bed, “playing rough tonight are we?”

“Your the one that bit my ear.” He crawled on top over her, kissing her neck.

“Yeah. But you know how I like it rough baby.” She cooed into his ear.

He let out a very throaty laugh as he pulled her shirt off.

“Would you be mad at me if I ripped these leggings off?” He asked her, tugging at the hem.

“These, yes. My undies you can rip off.” She laughed into his neck.

He rushed her leggings off, and ripped her underwear off. She loved when he showed his strength. She loved his muscular arms. She loved everything about the man she was about to marry that was on top of her.

“Did you wanna go for a drive?” He asked her quietly as he pulled her into the little spoon.

“Are you afraid your parents will hear us?” She laughed, “cause Honey that happened a long time ago.”

“No, we just haven’t gone for one in a while. It’d be nice to get away from the commotion and the hectic house.”

“Yeah, lets go.” She agreed.

“Let’s take the truck and shove it full of blankets.” He suggested.

“You don’t have to ask me twice.” She giggled getting up.

***

He felt at peace in the middle of no where with her. They weren’t going to have a lot of time together until their wedding night starting tomorrow.

They drove an hour north to Ray Roberts Lake. There were no bugs, it was a clear night. By the time they had gotten there it was almost 12:30 including the time it took to light their joints.

“This is nice.” She sighed.

“It is. Babe.” He ran his fingers through her hair.

“Mmm.”

“I’m nervous.” He admitted.

“Me too.” She rolled over so she could look at him.

“But I’m not getting cold feet. But I’m just nervous. Being in front of everyone.”

“I am too. It’s fine to be nervous.”

“Everyone has this expectation of me, and I’m scared I’m not going to live up to it.”

“Are you talking about work or the wedding?” She asked, running her thumb along his cheek.

“Both.” He leaned into her hand.

“For the wedding, just be the Jamie that I fell in love with, that we all know and love. For work, tell them how much you want to stay here. Dallas loves Jamie, the organization needs you.” She said softly.

“What would I do with out you.” He pulled her on top of him.

“You’d be a mess still living in that bachelor pad.” She laughed, kissing him.

“Yeah, I would. I love you.” He murmured against her lips.

He always needed to be close to her. As soon as he was in the same room as Emily, they were attached at the hips. Even if it was at casino night, or something to do with the Stars or any event, he needed to have at least one eye on her. It’s not that he didn’t trust her, being around Emily just made him relaxed.

Playing with her hair he knew he’d put her straight to sleep, and could tell when he successfully did so by the changing in her breathing.

Jamie laid there for a while, looking at the stars while his fiancée slept on top of him. He knew she was exhausted and stressed. It was his turn to take the stress. Emily was always stressed, and always looking after him.

She let him book the honeymoon, and plan everything for the honeymoon, excursions, spa treatments. All she needed to do was show up and relax.

He didn’t know how long they laid there. He was perfectly content spending the night. They left their phones in the truck, so he had no sense of time, at all.

He was doing everything he could to suppress the tickle that was definitely going to be turning into a cough not to wake Emily up, but as per usual, he couldn’t hold on to it.

“What time is it baby?” She asked softly.

“I’m not sure. Surely 1:30 at least.” He yawned.

“Let’s go home. Your exhausted.” She looked up at him.

“I am. It’s going to be an early morning.” He smiled down at her.

Once she was off of him he helped her out of the truck bed, he didn’t need to do this to impress her, but it kind of fell into habit for him.

***

The next morning did come early, very early. Her final fitting was at 8:30, Jamie was already up and out the door by 6:30 to head to the gym.

Having a light breakfast she made sure everyone was loaded up and on their way to her office where she was meeting Michael with her dress. She couldn’t wait to see it, she had worked hard to look good in the dress.

What everyone didn’t know, is that she had two dresses. One for the ceremony and one for the reception.

Her ceremony dress was ivory and Chantilly lace with sheer paneling on the back and lace off the shoulder straps. It had a deep V to show just a hint of her cleavage for Jamie to keep him focused. It was a mermaid fit to show off her curves, and the skirt had a little bit of organza under the lace to give it volume. It was a little bohemian, romantic and it was exactly what she wanted. There was just a small bit of crystal beading to give it a little bling.

It fit her like a glove. She could move in it, she could breath in it, and it was light weight.
As soon as she stepped out of the change room to show everyone; Behar, and Heather fell into tears.

“Y’all are going to make me cry.” She slouched over, pulling her mom and Mother-in-law into her arms.

“You just look, so, beautiful. My little girls getting married.” Behar cried out.

“Mom. You knew it was coming.” She laughed.

“I know, but this is just so. Overwhelming.”

“Just wait till Friday there B. You’ll be in all kinds of states.” She laughed.

“Jamie’s going to lose his mind.” Jenny said once Emily pulled away from Heather and Behar.

“Your not joking. He’s going to cry.” Heather shook her head.

“Oh we all knew that the moment he met her.” Stephanie laughed.

“He cried after he proposed to me. He said that that was only because I cried.” Emily rolled her eyes.

“This dress looks killer on you.” Jess said, getting Emily’s attention and holding her out at an arms length.

“Thank you. Decided to go with a mermaid because it fits me the best. Michael did the rest.”

“She picked the fabrics.” Michael laughed.

“He designed it and put it together. It’s one of a kind. Just like the man I’m marrying.” She smiled.

“Could you get any more cheesier.” Michael laughed.

“Should we show everyone second dress?” She looked at Michael.

“Second dress?” Behar asked.

“For the reception.” Emily grinned.

“Seriously?” Behar shook her head.

“Really really. Just a few minutes.”

She ducked back into the change room to put on the second dress. It was, once again lace, but sheer lace from top to bottom, with a natural waist. He made her a white body suit with shorts to make it look classy, and added loose, lace sleeves. More on the bohemian side, it would make things easier for her to dance in, walk around in and be more comfortable in.

She got the same response that she got in the first dress. She knew she wasn’t going to have any fancy lingerie under either of her dresses as both were either backless or had sheet panelling, but she had something set aside for their wedding night.

“I can’t believe your getting married.” Calin sighed, looking at her childhood best friend in her dress.

“Your telling me. Never thought I would see this day coming, at least not at 25.” She shook her head.

“Jamie’s a lucky man.” Heather sighed.

“No, I think I’m just a lucky woman.” Emily blushed.

Everything fit her perfectly. She was so happy, she knew Jamie was going to be over the moon. She was so lucky to have him in her life. She was so lucky to have everyone she did in her life.

The wedding wasn’t just going to be about their marriage, but they were also celebrating everyone in their lives.

Knowing the appointment went a little longer then she had hoped for, she knew she needed to rush to her hair appointment, luckily it was just over in Oak Lawn and not further north. A touch up on her brown and a trim to get her hair healthy looking.

When they got back from their honeymoon she was going to make the chop, and bring it to her just above her shoulders.

Once she she was done there, she popped next door to get her manicure and pedicure, making sure everything was prepped and primed for the next couple of days. She was going to make Jamie take time out of the gym and rink and take him for a massage. He needed it, she needed it. Sure they were probably going to be getting tons when they were on their honeymoon, but one to relax the pre-wedding jitters was also warranted.

Deciding to head back to the office to finish up everything before officially taking 80% of the summer off. She was already on vacation mode, but work actually helped with some of the wedding stress, it shut her brain down from other things.

By 5:00 rolled around she printed her vows, and shut her computer off, knowing it won’t be turned on till about mid August was great. She fully accepted that the summer was going to be full of travel and new experiences as something she needed, that they needed.

Jamie travelled well like her, but they always went to somewhere familiar, usually Kelowna. There was Russia, but asides got one night he was at Canada House. So going to the Maldives was going to be a new adventure. Jamie spoiled her and booked them a private jet, so they wouldn’t have to endure any long layovers. It was still going to be a 20-odd house trip, she wanted Muai Thai’s on their private deck, served by a very naked Jamie.

The next day she snuck into their office and found Jamie sitting at the desk with what looked to be one of her parents old photo albums, looking at pictures of just her as a child.

“You were one hairy child.” He laughed, looking at one picture, hint of a moustache, unibrow in full effect, baby hairs creeping their way toward her eyebrows.

“I’m still that hairy, I just get laser hair removal now and my brows threaded.” She rolled her eyes, coming behind the chair and wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

“Our kids are doomed. I’m marrying a werewolf and I’m just as hairy.” He sighed, “how come your hair isn’t this curly now?”

“It’s not really humid here in Dallas. Remember when we were down the coast in Galveston. My hair was curly then.” She kissed the back of his head.

“That’s right. It was. What were you coming in here for anyways?”

“To escape the chaos.” She laughed, “What were you doing in here?”

“To video chat Rich. I want this signed before we go away.” He turned around to look at her.

“I know you do. I do too. I don’t want you to stress about it while we’re gone.” She ran her fingers through his hair.

“Trust me, I won’t be stressed about it.” He grinned, reaching around and pulling he close.

“You kinky fucker.” She laughed.

“I hope you know that we’re trying all new positions on our honeymoon.”

“I think we’ve tried every position possible. Have you got a karma sutra book hiding or somethin?” She giggled as he snuggled into her chest.

“No, but we should get one, you know, to keep it from getting dull.”

“Jamie, it’ll never get dull with you.”

“They say the first year is the hardest. Do you think it’ll be the same for us?” He asked her.

“Mom said their first year was hard, dad was away and she was pregnant with me. Heather said their first year was easy.”

“Jason said their first year was hard because they had a bad season in Ottawa and he wasn’t the best husband.”

“You and Jason are so much alike. Should we make a rule?”

“And what would that be?”

“No matter what. If we have a bad day at work, we rant about it over dinner and get it out and that’s it, once dinner is cleaned up and the dishwasher is running that’s it.”

“As long as you suck my dick that’ll make me feel better.” He said dryly as he braced himself.

“Jamie!” She gave his shoulder a light slap.

“I miss my couch. I can’t wait to get my couch back.” He groaned.

“With your brother moving in with us you know we can’t have sex on it until he moves out right.”

“He’s moving into the guest house we’ll be fine. Or he’ll be at Jess’s.”

“I don’t know why he just didn’t move in with her.” She rolled her eyes.

“Because they don’t want to move as quickly as we did.” Jamie sighed.

“I know they’re boring and old!” She groaned.

“They’re allowed to take they’re time. Just cause we bought a house together after a year doesn’t mean they have too.”

“I know. But there was that bit of FOMO when we got engaged and Jordie was very vocal he wasn’t ready and she wanted him too.” She leaned back against the window.

Jamie looked at her before shaking his head with a grin. In one sweeping motion he had her off the ground with her legs around his waist and her back against the window.

“I love you.” She laughed as he pressed his forehead against hers.

“I love you too. Two more days.” He whispered.

“I’m gonna turn you into the messiest pile of mush on the floor and I’m gonna absolutely love it.”

“You already have.” He admitted before kissing her.
