Chapter 3

She was right. She was so right and I hate it. I don't understand why they do this us. 2 hours long lectures, sometimes 3; abnormal tests, exams and assignments. I could go on but that would waste my time. Anyways, you would think they would be nicer since they've been where we are.
Besides school, I have nothing new in my life. Boring, I know. Annie, on the other hand, was taking advantage of every single moment. For starters, every party she was there. Well not every party but the big campus ones that people talked about for ages. And since she's beautiful and all, and very social it didn't take her long to havea new boyfriend. I've seen him once or twice but their was nothing that stood out. I know it's funny how I have the audacity to critize someone. It's just all of Ann's previous basically looked like Demi-God's. Besides Ian( her new boyfriend) and Uni, she also gotten herself a job. So while she's being proactive , I'm reading a book and writing.
I didn't mind not having a social life. Personally, I find people are so full... they're too much to handle. You open up to them, you trust them and help them in time of need. Sometimes, when you're with them, they might do things that bother you but you don't mind. You try and comprimize. But things end, what happens then? All the effort, energy and time spent was for nothing. I might have shared this Annie... Not my smartest move that for sure because now she thinks I'm crazy or going depressed. So she has a plan. Since I finished finals, I have to go out and mingle. Because ever since we started school in Montreal, I haven't gone out much. That's why today, December 16th, I'm getting ready to go to the club with her and Ian.
At 10 pm we finaly get there. Normally at this time, I'm in bed Why am I here? I thought Why? Girls wearing skimppy dresses, guys taking advantage of "the view" the're seeing; I seriously don't see the fun in being here.
"Stop frowning Iz, and have some fun." Ann screamed over the anoyingly loud music.
"Well, what do you wat me to do? This isn't my scene." I yelled back.
"Oh excuses, excuses. Here drink this." She said. I took the drink from her hand and drank it. Immediatly regretting it.
"God, what the hell was that? It's disgustig!" I said
"You'll get use to it. Now go flirt, dance, heck even hock-up with a random stranger; I don't care. Just have fun!" She said and left me to go dance. I rolled my eyes, Yeah, sure drink till I have kindney problems. Sure let's get aids. That's really fun! I made my way to the bar and sat there for about 20 minutes. Yup, this is Fun.
"Hey can I get you something to drink?" A man asked. He looked like kind off arrogant and full of himself but the way he stood. He was trying to use a husky voice but was visibly failling.
"No." I said. Creep.
"Oh, come on. Why not?" He said leaning on the table, clearly trying to show off that he works out.
"Cos I said so. Now get lost." I said. He stood there still looking at me, so I decided that I need to get out of here. As I was walking around trying to find the exit, I noticed that guys were looking at me. Normally I would be flattered but they we're intoxicated. And my dress that Ann picked out " did wonders for my body". Her words not mine. I needed to get out of here, now.
" Hey, you wat to dance?" A guy said. No, I don't! Not today, not ever! I don't why you people come here, what do gain? Nothing, that's what. Was what I wanted to say, but I stayed polite.
"No--" I stoped for a second, hee had brown hair and green eyes. My mind automatically thought it was Brendan but the voice was different.
"No, thanks" I said. Finaly, I made my way outside. What if it was Brendan, would I have said yes? It's weird that we hadn't see each other after the concert. I guess this city is bigger than I thought. I sat on the bus bench and looked around.
"How did I get here?" I said.
"Well, you probably walked here." A voice said. That voice, I remember it. I looked up and meet those eyes that I've secretly missed. I found myself smiling by his comment.
" Thanks, I hadn't figure that part yet." I said. He smiled at me.
"So you're here? How?" He asked sitting down next to me.
"I go to university here." I said.
"Oh, so you didn't move here to stalk me? That's to bad, I would have liked that." He said, smirking.
"And why would I or anyone stalk you?" I said. Besides your good looks. I thought.
"Haven't you seen me? Like I could be a model." He said. I laughed I thought you were one.
"Yeah sure you could." I said non chantly.
"So what are you doing here? He said changing the subject.
" My friend wanted us to go clubing and I needed some air to breath" I said. He nodded understandly.
"Aren't you cold?" He asked.
"No, not really." I said. I can understand why he's concerned; it's a wintery night and I'm not wearing a jacket. Or much layers to shield me from the cold.
"You sure?" He said.
"Yeah, why?" I asked. Do I need to be cold, cos I'm not.
"You're really bad at this." He said. I gave him a confused look.
"At what exactly?" I asked.
"Flirting" He said with a humourise tone.
"Well, there isn't really a guide book on how to flirt" I said. He placed one arm on top of the bench.
" Yes, there is." He said.
"Then how come I've never heard of it?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"It's not really a book." He said. "It's like a unwriten rule of things to do."
"You mean a universal law?" I said. He nodded.
"So when i asked if you we're cold, you should have saidd yes."
"But that would be lying." I said.
"Not lying" He said leaning back. "Flirting."
" How so?" I asked, narrowing my eyes. I wondered how does he think.
"Because then, I would have given you my jacket." He said.
"But I'm not cold!" I said. He shocked his head and sighed.
"I know that, but that would have given me a reason to get closer to you." He said. I looked at the space between us; Not much.
"But I still don't see how that is considered flirting." I said.
"God, you're something." He said laughing. "Are you always this stubborn?"
"It depends" I said playing with my nails.
"On what?" He said.*
"If the subject makes sense or if I'm bored." I said.
"Oh so now you're bored? I think I might have been the highlight of your night" He said. You have no idea.
"Yeah, but this isn't fun."
"I think it is." He said.
"Really? Debating on what is considered flirting is fun?" I asked.
"Well, no. But I'm enjoying your company." He said.
"So am I. But I'm going to keep on being stubborn if we don't do anything fun." I said smirking at him. He looked at me with his piercing green eyes.
"What's your last name?" He asked.
"McFadder , and yours?" I said. He hesitated for a second before speaking.
"Gallagher." He said.
"Well, Gallagher, what shall we do then?" I said. He got up from the close position he was and handed me his hand. I gladly took it.
"Well, miss McFadder we are going to have the night of our lives." He said linking my arm with his. I giggled.
"Are you sure of that?" I said.
"Positif; Now let's get you out of this cold." He said.
