The Price of Two

Chapter 2

The two had decided dinner at Saint Ann Restaurant would be best, it was close to the AAC and the girls had gotten there early so there wasn’t much of a crowd. It was a bit of a nicer place, though they rarely enjoyed a dinner out so decided it would be acceptable, besides, they weren’t paying for the game tickets tonight.
“Who do you think it was in line that hooked you up with the tickets?” Sophia asked.
“Honestly,” Wyatt responded while playing with the straw of her basil lemonade cocktail, “I have no idea, I never got to see his face, hell I didn’t think I needed to pay attention. He was buff and the back looked like he’d be attractive.”
“Hmm… I wonder if we’ll get to figure it out tonight.”“I hope so, I would really like to thank him, paying for me was enough. I wouldn’t have even accepted the tickets but considering I didn’t have a choice I didn’t want them to go to waste.”
They talked a bit more about work and different things happening in their lives. The girls had become friends during Wyatt’s time in Louisiana and as luck would have it they both ended up in Dallas, Sophia doing PR work for a major architecture firm in the city and Wyatt at the hospital. Sophia helped her a lot through some of her major life transitions, the birth of Cash, Carsen being drafted, the moves that came with that, the break up, Sophia was there for all of that.
Once the bill was paid they travelled the short distance to the AAC, they made sure to provide enough time to get through will call in case there was a line but had missed the commotion of the doors just opening. They had finally reached the front of the line and approached the desk, “Hi, um I’m supposed to pick up some tickets...” Wyatt trailed off, the situation was odd and she wasn’t sure exactly how to go about it.
“Name?” the older lady asked.
“I don’t actually have a name to give you… I was told to tell you, um, 6165?” Who does this? It’s so odd she thought, getting tickets from a will call without a name. Heck this might even be a prank she thought, how ridiculous would that look?
“Ah yes if you’ll wait right here an attendant will be with you soon to show you to your seats.” she said with a polite smile. They looked at each other very confused but stepped to the side, a few minutes later an older man dressed in black dress pants, a white button up and a Dallas Stars tie, with a balding head of white hair and a rounded face approached them, “I’m Charlie,” the girls shook his hand and introduced themselves, “if you’ll follow me I’ll lead you to your seats,” the two followed him through the AAC but they came to a stop and Charlie turned around “Your friend has asked that we stop here so you may each pick out some apparel, these vouchers each have $200 on it, I will give you ladies some time to look around, if you see something you like but not in the right size just let me know” The girls looked at each other both with equally impressed looks.
“I can’t accept this, the tickets were too much” Wyatt whispered to Sophia. She was one to always work and earn things, she’d accept gifts but not large extravagant ones, especially from strangers.
“It is a lot but honey I’m not gonna turn down a free hockey game and some free merch, this dude might be a billionaire. He wouldn’t have offered it if he couldn’t afford it.” Wyatt thought about it and decided she was right, she walked around The Hangar trying to figure out what to buy, what Cash would like, he liked watching hockey thanks to his uncle but she hadn’t had a chance to take him to a game here yet. After browsing for a bit she decided on a blank jersey for her and Benn jersey for her boy which maxed out her $200, while Sophia decided on a Benn jersey as well and a cute long sleeve.
“Did you find everything you wanted?” Charlie asked as the girls approached him, they nodded and smiled back, “Alright let’s head over to your seats, you will be in section 106 row 5, just behind the Stars penalty box, anyone is allowed down on the glass during warmups to get pictures up close of the players. We’re playing the Wild tonight so it should be a close game, probably lots of penalty action.” With Wyatt being from Minnesota she was a Wild fan and began talking with Charlie about that. They reached the section and Charlie led them right down to their seats, “I’ll be available to you throughout the game, I’ll check back in every 30 minutes to get you any food or beverages, is there anything I can get you right now?”
“I’ll take a Bud Light” Sophia responded.
“I’ll do a Corona if you guys have it, if not then a Bud Light please” With that Charlie left them with plans to return with drinks for the two.
“Okay this is really great service and clearly they don’t do it for just anyone, I really want to know who this guy is now.” Sophia leaned into Wyatt. The girls had reached their seats with about 5 minutes till warm ups were to start so the arena wasn’t filled yet which gave the two time to speculate without anyone eavesdropping.
“I was thinking the same thing, do you think Charlie would know? I thought about asking him.”
“It’s worth a shot.” They continued small talk for a few minutes before the players started filing onto the ice for warmup.
“Your drinks ladies,” Charlie appeared out of nowhere with one Bud Light and one Corona, they took their respective drinks with a thank you.
“Charlie….” Wyatt trailed off, unsure if she should ask the question, “I know this is a really weird question, but do you happen to know who supplied the tickets for us tonight?”
He looked between both of them quizzically “You don’t know?” Wyatt shook her head no and began to tell him the story, he lightly laughed and shook his head “Well you see number 91 down there by the bench?” He asked and pointed in the general direction.
“Seguin?” Sophia asked.
“Yes, Mr. Seguin, he is the one who reserved these seats and ask that the guests be escorted tonight.” Charlie informed the girls
“Thank you so much,” Wyatt said politely with a smile on her face.
“Will there be anything else right now?” Charlie asked
“No I think we are both good.”
“Alright, I’ll be back down just before puck drop” He smiled before turning to head back up onto the plaza.
“Wow okay look at you getting some hockey players attention.” Sophia teased at Wyatt who just gave her a glare. Wyatt had been with a pro-athlete, it didn’t work for a reason, she was hoping that this was just some over the top gesture because this Seguin guy felt bad for her. She had remembered hearing something about him before so she shot her brother a text asking about him. His response just gave her another reason to not be interested, he was an extreme partier and playboy, not what she was looking for. She shared the news with Sophia and the two talked about it while nursing their beers. Before they knew it, it was almost puck drop and Charlie was back, while they didn’t need refills then they asked if he would bring them another each half way through the first. With his agreement the two friends settled in to watch what was sure to be an interesting game.

The game went into OT with the Stars eventually getting the win. The girls were pleased although Wyatt felt a bit of betrayal for cheering against her hometown team but the way she looked at it, Dallas was her home now. They sat in their seats taking in the arena and talking over highlights of the game “Ladies, Mr. Seguin has invited you down to meet him once he is through with his interviews. If you are finished here we can head down and I can show you where to wait.” Wyatt looked at Sophia and nodded, standing up, grabbing their things and following Charlie through the halls of the Airlines Center. Eventually he led them to a hallway where they could see other women waiting, some with kids, clearly they were the girlfriends, wives and kids of the players. Thankfully, to Sophia’s outfit choice which forced Wyatt to also dress up the two didn’t look completely out of place, however they stayed back a little bit to make it known they weren’t one of them. After about 20 minutes the players started filing out of the locker room and greeting the respective person waiting for them, although the two weren’t exactly sure who they were looking for so they kept a quiet conversation going between them.
They weren’t even paying attention when they heard “Is one of you Wyatt?” from a voice deeper than their own and clearly having a Canadian accent.
Wyatt turned around to come face to face with a very attractive man about 5” taller than her in her heels, “Yes, that’s me.”
“I’m Tyler Seguin, nice to finally, officially, meet you” The well dressed, freshly showered man held his hand out to which she reciprocated.
“So you’re Mystery Coffee Guy. I’m Sophia” In true Sophia fashion of introducing herself, the two exchanged greetings.
“Did you enjoy the game?” Tyler asked clearly focusing more on Wyatt than Sophia.
“We did, thank you so much for the tickets and for the apparel, paying for my drink this morning was enough you did not need to do this.” She responded back being as sincere as she could.
“Well if I would’ve done that then I wouldn’t have been able to see you again.” He returned with charm. Wyatt just laughed it off, trying to be nice but also hoping he’d get the subtle hint she wasn’t interested.
“What are you girls doing after this? Or are you calling it a night?” He looked between the two.
“We are going to go grab some drinks at Tate’s, actually why don’t you come?” Sophia asked immediately after he finished the question.
“Oh you don” was all Wyatt managed to get out before she was cut off.
“I’d love to, do you mind if I bring some of the boys?” Tyler inquired.
“Not at all” Sophia smiled back.
“Great, we will meet you there soon” He smiled back at them.
The girls turned to leave and linked arms. “I’m going to kill you” Wyatt whispered.

Notes

Well Tyler made his appearance! I know it was a short one but I promise there will be no lacking of him now. I wanted to include more in this chapter but was afraid it would be too long. I promise it won't take me so long to upload next time. I spent a lot of time planning out the next chapters before I uploaded this so I knew exactly where things were going to go in the near future posts. I hope you guys like it!
