Chapter 17

It was game day well the first game of the season and it was a home game today was a special day Cassie woke up it was early but she realized Sid wasn't in bed she got out of bed she grabbed his hoodie and put it on and went looking for him She finally saw him sitting outside in a chair on the deck off the kitchen she walked outside and says “hey I missed you in bed”

Yeah” he says still looking out from the deck

"Hey talk to me” Cassie says

"It's cold out here baby go inside” he says

"No Sidney please talk to me” she says kneeling in front of him

"Tonight was suppose to be special a special night it's game day and doesn't even feel like it I just want to sit here” Sid says

“Hey tonight still going to be special the banners still get hung and you get to see it just in a suit instead of on the ice in uniform” Cassie says

“I don't even want to watch in a suit on the sidelines” he says Cassie hated how upset and lost he seems

“I know and I don't know how to fix that” Cassie says trying not to let the tears flow

“I don't expect you to fix it baby just really give me a little bit of time out here ok you go back inside where it's warm please” Sid says

“Ok but don't stay out here too long in the cold either “ Cassie says

"Cold doesn't bother me baby remember “ Sid says giving her a small smile

“Oh that's right” she says smiling as she kissing him and walks back in the house to give him time She took out her phone and walked in to another room she knew Nathalie could most likely help “Cassie I been meaning to call you I heard something about you and that's boy I think of as a son”

“Yeah what you alway said was going to happen finally did “ Cassie says she has a smile on her face

"Good I am so glad” she says

"Me too Nathalie can I talk to you about something” Cassie asks

“Anything sweetheart is something wrong” Nathalie asks concerned

“Well Sid he really upset about tonight game he outside on the deck he said he just needs time” Cassie says

"Give him a little time out there but then I say you tell him it's game day and he not going to change anything about his routine in the end he will agree he likes routine and he feels out of routine right now” Nathalie says

“Why didn't I think of that it's prefect “ Cassie says

" Cause you love him and you are thinking of just taking care of him and normal thing isn't what you are thinking to help” Nathalie says

“Yeah now if I could just get him happy a little about banner night he’s like I don't even want to be there for it in a suit on the sidelines” Cassie says

"Hmm he been skating some right” Nathalie asks

“Yeah why” Cassie asks

"Not holding any promises let me talk to Mario but since he can skate maybe we let him suit up in his uniform to skate the cup out which was the original plan and he can stand on the ice with the team and then change” Nathalie says

“Oh my god if you can make that happen it would help I think I didn't realize that why this is bothering him so much I would love you forever if you can and it helps him smile tonight” Cassie says

“I will work on it sure it will be fine now give him a few more minutes then tell him to get ready to go to arena it's game day and he not changing his routine “ Nathalie says

They hang up and Cassie heads back out to get Sid just as he was coming back in

"Hey I know you are upset but it is game day and I think you should keep your Routine no changing it up” she says

“I know I just called pascal he picking me up to go to the arena plus Mario wants to talk to me about tonight something about the plans the banner night probably wants me to decide who should bring the cup out” Sid says

"Yeah well I am glad you are getting back in to game day mode think it will be good baby” Cassie says

“I know I am sorry about earlier just bear with me for a few days I promise things will be better” Sid says

“Baby i am in it for the long haul I love you” Cassie says

"I love you too” Sid says kissing her

"Go get ready i will see you after for other game day routine things once home” Cassie says

"Lunch and nap” Sid says smiling

“Yep and i know game day meals so no worries” Cassie says

Sid got ready and pascal picked him up they got to the arena and Sid went to meet with Mario

“Hey wanted to talk to you about tonight “ Mario says

“Yeah figured you wanted to talk to me about who to pick to bring out the cup” Sid says

"Sid why would I want to ask you about that your captain you are bringing out the cup” Mario says

"Oh ok I just figured since I am not playing and will be in my suit I was going to be on the bench with others not playing” Sid says

"Yeah about that how would you like one last dance with Stanley on skates on our ice home ice” Mario asks

“I love it but I don't get it” Sid says

“For banner rising you going to be suited up in uniform and skate the cup out and then stand on the ice with the team as captain” Mario says

Sid was shocked but smiles and says “ thanks for doing this”

“Oh I wish I could take the credit but you have to thank Nathalie and your girl they came up with it this morning and Nathalie ran it by me and I loved the idea” Mario says

“Wow this means so much” Sid says

“I know me and Nathalie love you like a son and trust me Cassie loves you with all her heart” Mario says

"I know and I know about Cassie too i am lucky” Sid says

“Yeah I know cause I am Lucky to have found Nathalie” Mario says

“Yeah Cassie said we aren't changing game day routine” Sid says

"Good so I will let you go So you can make sure you don't” Mario says

Sid couldn't wait to tell Cassie about tonight and to thank her and Nathalie when he saw her too this was the happiest he had been since the word concussion has been spoken when the test came back confirming it
