Knocked Down, Rise Above

Chapter 16

It was the next day and Sid was going to the practice facility he got ready to leave Cassie was already up and was in the kitchen she had coffee ready for him she knew one of the guys were going to pick him up so she got two travel mugs of coffee ready for him to take.

“I am going to leave baby” Sid says to her

"Ok here coffee for you guys” Cassie says

"Thanks” he says

“Hey it will be ok just find out what they think you should try today and know no matter what I am here for you baby” Cassie says


“I know I hope I can skate” Sid says

“I know but if you can't skate don't get frustrated ok promise” Cassie says

"Yeah ok baby” Sid says kissing her and taking the coffee with him

Cassie was a little worried about him she knew he he couldn't skate even it might effect him worse plus with first game tomorrow that was on his mind


Pascal had picked him up Sid actually felt bad having Pascal doing so much for him

"Man I actually feel bad you are now Staying here and I feel like it's partly my fault” Sid says

“Sid it's not your fault just when you got injured it made it easier for me to make my decision I was already going back and forth on what I wanted to do and I just realized I still need to be with this team helping it” Pascal says

“I just feel bad cause it's not just you it's Carole-lyn and the kids too” Sid says “

Just stop me and her talked and made this decision together plus she knew I wanted to be with the team and back here I just finally realized it” pascal says as they arrive at the facility


“Ok sorry I just have so much going thru my head right now” Sid says

"Well don't let that all get to you let's go in there and see what you can do today and start getting you better” pascal says

“That's definitely what I want right now” Sid says

They walk in and Sid talks to trainers and they decide he could try to skate and see how things went on his own

“You care if I come out with you” Pascal asks him

“No actually that might be nice since I can't be out with the team you can help me with stuff” Sid says as he got ready

“Good I want to skate some anyways” pascal saga

Sid knew pascal missed the game so he was glad to have him be able to least come out and skate with him. They head out to the one rink to skate on their own Sid was happy to be able to be out there he wanted to do more but know he couldn't yet

They skated for awhile in silence before Pascal headed over to the bench area and got a few pucks and he had already asked someone to bring one of Sid sticks out he brought them out to Sid

“They said skate and try it that's all” sid says

“They didn't say you couldn't work on puck handling skills and it can be good show us what issues you still have from the concussion” Pascal says to him

“True and some skill handling stuff won't be hard working out” Sid says taking the stick as Pascal lays some pucks on the ice

They did that for a little bit then Pascal says “Ok think that's good for today”

Sid didn't want to stop but he know Pascal was only looking out for him They headed off the ice and Sid went to take a shower before heading home

As they got in the car Pascal says “what are your plans for the rest of day”

“Well I was going to ask you if you wanted to stop by the house get Cassie and I take you both to lunch” Sid says

“Why don't you take her to lunch just you two it would be good and nice for you both” Pascal says

"Yeah she would like that I bet” Sid says

"Oh she will” Pascal Says

"Hey can we stop so I can bring her flowers home I think she deserves them especially after the last few days” Sid says

“Sure we can and I think you have a great idea” Pascal says finding the place he knew they could get amazing flowers Sid picked out a few light pink roses with few other flowers mixed into the bouquet

They got to Sid’s and he told Pascal bye and headed into the house looking for Cassie he finally found her in his room putting away clothes

"You know you don't have to do all this house work and stuff baby” Sid says

"I love helping alway have how did it go” Cassie says

“We will talk about it later first get ready I am taking you out for lunch and also i got these for cause of the past few days you have went thru hell with me and been here for me and I want you to know I love you” Sid says handing her flowers

“Wow they are so pretty I love them and I love you no place I would rather be” Cassie says kissing him

“I am so glad baby now really get ready so we can go to lunch I will tell you how things went on the way to lunch “ he says

"Ok Cassie says she went to change her shirt but left her black leggings on she picked out a dark pink shirt that was longer

“You look amazing “ Sid say

"It's just causal outfit” Cassie says

" Yeah but that's what fits you I rather see you in jeans or leggings and comfy shirts or even my jerseys than dressy clothes all the time” he says

“Yeah i love wearing your jerseys but I do like to dress up sometimes too” Cassie says smiling

"Oh trust me baby you have plenty of times to dress up too” Sid says

“I know now where do you want to do lunch” Cassie asks

“What do you want your pick” Sid says

“Italian that place we have went a few times before” Cassie says

“Sounds perfect” Sid says

“Thanks for letting me pick” Cassie says she knew times being out at places he could get bothered a lot and he let her choose the place

“Anything for you baby I hope you know that” Sid says “I know baby you always showed me and done that before we were even together “ Cassie says

“Good let's go” Sid says taking her hand as they walked out to the car

"You want me to drive” Cassie asks

"No I am ok baby trust me” Sid says “Ok baby” Cassie says as they get in the car and start to leave Sid headed to the place they were going to eat

“So how did today go” Cassie asks she was nervous about it

“I got to skate on my own but I did skate” Sid says he was happy about that

“That's great baby” Cassie says smiling

"Yeah I wish it was more but i am glad that I was able to do that much and it hasn't seem to effect me so that's good and a step in the right direction” Sid says

"I know you wish it was more but your right it's a step in this right direction and no balance issues which was something we weren't totally sure about” Cassie says to him

“Yep so that's good Pascal skated with me and then got one of my sticks and worked on puck handling skills too” Sid says

“How did that go” Cassie asks

"Pretty well I mean we didn't do it too long just a few minutes at the end” Sid says as they get to the restaurant

“We will just take it step by step ok baby” Cassie says taking his hand

“Right I know you stay right there I will come around and open your door” Sid says Cassie waited for Sid he opened the door and took her hand as they walked to the restaurant

“You ok with being out “ Cassie asks

"Yeah I mean might get bothered a little but I want to take you out” Sid says

“I just meant cause some might ask about the concussion and stuff” Cassie says

“Yeah I know I am not going to let it bother me just want to have a good lunch with you”Sid says “

"That sounds perfect “ Cassie says as they head in to have an amazing lunch
