Chapter 18

Sid and Pascal finished up at the arena and headed back home Cassie had run to the store to get some things and started lunch she has the table set for her and Sid for lunch it was all ready when he got back
"Wow you did get this perfect for game day routine” Sid says

“I told you I knew what to make “ Cassie says as they sat down to eat

“Yeah and it's amazing baby thank you” Sid says

"Good how did today go” she asks

"Actually very good I am excited about tonight” he says

“Really I am so glad you are excited now it's important night” Cassie says

"Well I have you to thank partly for it” Sid says

“I didn't do anything” Cassie says

“Yes you did first you love me so much and two you and Nathalie who I also have to thank made the best thing possible” he says

"They are going to let you skate the cup out then?” Cassie asks happy

“Yep baby I get one last dance with Stanley and this time on our ice. Home ice baby and then watch banner rising with the guys on ice in uniform” Sid says smiling

"Aww that's the smile I love seeing a happy Captain who deserves to be out there with his team you make me so proud all the time” Cassie says with tears in her eyes

"Hey you ok” Sid asks

"Yeah just a little over emotional cause this is stuff you worked all your life for and knowing you will get to enjoy it now the way you want to makes me happy and that you feel I had a part I can't even explain it” Cassie says

"Please don't cry baby” Sid says kneeling down beside her chair it broke his heart to ever see her cry

“I am trying not to baby but seeing everything you have been going thru the past few days it finally caught up with me and I am just I don't know” Cassie says

“Baby you're tired and drained is all come on i am done eating and it's game day and after lunch is game day nap time so come on let's go get some sleep you will feel better after” Sid says taking her hand and helping her up

"Yeah that's it I bet and a nap laying with you sounds like heaven” Cassie says

“Good” Sid says having her sit on the bed he went into his closet and returns with one of his jerseys it was one of her faves it was from when he was drafted he helps her put in on over her tee shirt and then lays her down as he lays beside her and pulls her close he felt her relax which helped him relax and soon both were asleep.

Sid had woken up and was already in the shower getting ready to leave for be the arena for the game Cassie had woken up she had most of her clothes still in the other room that was hers when she stayed she went in and got a shower she put on one of her favorite pair of jeans along with a nice black and gold shirt to support the team. She did her hair up in a ponytail and put a little make up on she put her shoes on and headed back over to see if Sid was ready


He was in his room he has his pants and dress shirt on he was just tying his tie when she came in “wow You look great baby” he says

"Thanks baby” Cassie says

"You do look amazing but I think there something missing” Sid says as he went into his closest She couldn't think of anything else she needed for the outfit Sid came back out with a home jersey and says

"this was the one I wore last year last home game of the Stanley cup finals and i want you to wear it”

“Really” Cassie asks that was one jersey that one and the away one from the win she hadn't even worn not even over the summer when she had been around. She felt they were still too special and the championship was still new.

"Yeah baby you know you can wear any of them in there anytime you want. But I just felt the need for you to be in this one I thought of the away one cause of the win but it's a home game so I decided it needed to be this one” Sid says helping her put it on

Most of his jerseys she swam in cause they were so big but they brought comfort and relaxed her in moments of nerves and tonight she had nerves for sure

“I love it thank you baby” she says she could smell his body spray on it and knew he must have sprayed it on there


“Welcome baby I love you now we have to go” he said taking her hand as they headed out to the car

"I love you too” Cassie says

“I know” he says as they got in the car and headed to the arena

They rode all the way there in slience it was a big day but also she knew it was a hard and emotional day on Sid cause it had been on her so it would be much worse on him They got to the arena and went to head in he had to things with the team and get ready for the banner thing Nathalie was going to take Cassie with her

" Ok I will see you after baby” Sid says kissing her Cassie then remembered what she had him and says “wait i have something for you” handing him the bag

He looked in it and smiles and says “I almost forgot about this”

“No breaking game day routines remember and I figured since you haven’t played yet you didn't have the stuff here yet”


“I didn't baby now I can have my pre game food tonight I can't believe I forgot” Sid says

"You have been stressed it's ok baby I will see you later I love you and I am so proud of you” Cassie says kissing him He headed to the locker room while Cassie headed up to the box with Nathalie

“He seems good tonight” Nathalie says

"Yeah he does I think the him skating for the banner night helped so thank you” Cassie says

"No need to thank me sweetie “ Nathalie says smiling “It was me that broke down at lunch I don't know why Sid says it was cause I was tired and drained and just needed to get some rest and I think he was right cause I feel better” Cassie says

"I am so glad sweetie” Nathalie says

“I am excited to see him tonight out there i am so proud of him” Cassie says

“Yeah I know we all are I mean to see how he has grown from that boy that came here for his rookie season with so much on his shoulders to the man that will skate out there tonight captain of a second Stanley Cup team it makes me so proud and even emotional too” Nathalie says

"Thanks for letting me watch up here with you” Cassie says

“Sweetie you always have a place to watch up here with me got it” Nathalie says

“Yeah thanks” Cassie says It was finally time for them to watch the banner rising ceremony

They were announcing the players in order of their numbers and they each skated out to center ice Csssie know most people didn't know that Sid was going to be in uniform to skate the cup out she knew he was happy to do that on home ice the team’s ice his ice this place held so many memories just as the Mellon Arena did too

Cassie thought of many of those special moments as they called his name Sid was announced and skated out with the cup in uniform to cheers from the whole arena he took a lap around the ice before setting the cup on the table at center ice and then went to stand with teammates he stood between Kris and Geno smiling as they started to raise the banners

Cassie smiled watching she was so proud of him for making the best of tonight and being happy

The banners where finally up where they belong Sid went to skate off but was stopped by Geno and Kris. Kris handed him his stick he looked confused

"Captain you're taking the ceremonial puck drop first we all decided” Kris says

“Guys I am not playing and it's to be G taking it” Sid says

"We ask got permission you take it then go back to change” Geno says

"Wow guys this means a lot “ Sid says Kris and Geno smile it was just what they wanted to do for their captain.

Cassie had tears in her eyes as she watched Sid take the puck drop she knew she had to get a hold her of herself before Sid got back she went to the bathroom Sid changes and heads up to the box ready to watch the game he said a prayer that they would win and no one would get hurt tonight
