Chapter 22


So what to make” Sid asks as they made it to the kitchen

“Well there's everything in there for chicken fajitas” Cassie says

“That sounds great” Sid says Cassie started to get the stuff out she handed Sid some of the vegetables to cut up while she cut and got the chicken ready

“I love that we are cooking together tonight” Cassie says

“Yeah it's nice now are you sure you are ok” he asks

“Yeah I was just thinking about the summer it was not what I thought it was going to be” Cassie says as she cut the chicken into strips “

Yeah you never have told me what really happen with work” Sid says

"They were downsizing and I was one of the newest people in my department so I knew I was going to be one of the ones to lose my job” Cassie says

“How long did you know” he asks her

"Does it really matter” Cassie asks

"Yes it does so how long” Sid says as he cuts the vegetables into strips

“Sid it doesn't matter” Cassie says

“Yes it does so Cassandra how long” Sid says he never used her given name she hated that she was Cassie

"Around May” Cassie says

"What the hell and you didn't tell me til after it happen” Sid says upset

“Well let's see am I going to tell you when it's the playoffs no or better yet when I was here for the Stanley cup finals game no you had that to worry about that was where your focus needed to be” Cassie says

"How about after I won” Sid says

“And ruin that celebration no way I did the right thing yes we were best friends I would never ruin your special day with that” Cassie says getting upset

"I just wanted to know baby cause it was important to you like my games are to me” Sid says

"I am sorry but I had to do what I thought was right at the time so please don't get mad at me for this” Cassie says crying she was upset she was still finishing cutting up the chicken and between upset and crying she missed the chicken and cut her finger she yelled out in pain “ouch god”

Sid saw the blood and says “baby let me see how bad it is"

“I am fine” Cassie says seeing the blood

“No you're not baby now please let me take a look at it” Sid says sitting her down on one of the stools at the island

"I am sorry for not telling you but I didn't want to ruin the cup for you” Cassie says

"I know baby damn you got it good I think you might need stitches” Sid says

“No it will be fine just put a band aid on it and let's finish dinner” Cassie says

“Baby please let me take you to have it looked at we can make dinner after we get back” Sid says

"Ok but get me something to wrap it up in good i am not getting blood all over your car” Cassie says

They put the food in the fridge then wrapped a towel around Cassie hand and Sid helps her get in the car

“Just go to a med express around here baby” Cassie says as she saw him on the phone she knew he was calling the team medical she didn't want special treatment

“No way baby I want someone I trust looking at that and taking care of it I need to make sure you're ok god this is all my fault I am sorry for getting so upset about you not telling me” Sid says to her “'

"I get why you were upset and this isn't your fault baby i am just accident prone” Cassie says

“Still you are seeing the team medical as he headed to the hospital to meet up with them” Sid says

“Fine but I don't like getting special attention “ Cassie says

“Well too bad that's going to happen cause you're my girl and my world and you're going to have to deal with sometimes this is what I am going to do I am going to pull for the special treatment “ Sid says as they pull in and he helps her in they were taken right back

“See there people out there needing to be seen “ Cassie says

“Yeah but the Doctor you're seeing isn't on call he only here to check You “ Sid says as they wait

The doctor made his way in “I am so sorry he dragged you out for a cut” Cassie says

"Hey it's no bother plus makes it easier I know how he will be about this let him give me the grief about everything and not some other poor doctor” he says

"Hey I am not that bad” Sid says

“Sidney yeah when it's her you are trust me remember a year ago when she fell on ice outside the arena when visiting” the doctor says

"Yeah I was fine bruise my wrist but that was all and you wanted x-rays of my whole body” Cassie says

“Well something could have been broken” Sid says Cassie just shakes her head as the doctor looks at her hand

“Well think 5 stitches will take care of it” he says “Really I need stitches “ Cassie says

“See I told you baby it was bad and you needed them” Sid says

It's not really bad but deep and we want it to heal right so
I am going take care of it I will numb it first then start” the doctor says

"God I hate needles” Cassie says

“Hey it's ok look at me not at what he doing Sid says standing in front of her taking her other hand She squeezed it as the doctor pushes the needle into the cut

“Baby god not so hard on my hand” Sid says

“I told your I hate needles and it hurts” she says to Sid still squeezing on his hand

"He just doesn't want you breaking his shooting hand sweetie “ the doctor laughs

“Sorry baby but it hurts” Cassie says

it's ok baby and that part is done” Sid says she loosen her grip on his hand but didn't let go of it

The doctor started the stitches and within 10 minutes was done he says” ok they need to be in for about a week to 10 days bring her by one day around that time frame and we will get them taken out

"Thanks for doing this all” Sid says to him

“Yeah thanks felt better it being you” Cassie says

“No problem glad to do it” he says smiling

Now let's go home and finish dinner” Sid says

"Ok but you are doing all the rest of the cutting this time” Cassie says

"That's the plan cause you aren't touching a knife today once that's healed you can do the cutting again” Sid say as they start to drive home

"Hey I am sorry I didn't tell you about the whole job thing I don't want you to think I am going to hide stuff from you I mean now that we are together in a relationship. Back in the summer we hadn't said our feeling even though we were best friends and I thought what I did was best but now I am seeing it wasn't for the best and I am truly sorry” Cassie says

"Baby i am sorry if it seem like I was mad or angry I just wish I had know and know no matter what is going on at the time if something important is going on I want to know about. Don't be worry to talk to me about it and tell me” Sid says

"Ok but that works two ways you have to tell me what's going on too even if it's going to worry me I need to know also we are in this ride together “ Cassie says

“This is true so you are right I promise to tell you what's going on and not try to hide it either “ Sid says

They get home and go back in the kitchen You sit down and just watch” Sid says to Cassie “

You know I can cook I am not that broken” Cassie says

“Yeah I know baby but let me spoil you some please” Sid says

“Yeah but the point of this dinner tonight was to do it together and spend time together “ Cassie says

“Oh you going to still be out here with me and we can talk and spend time together just not doing any work” he says

“Ok I am just used to doing stuff for myself you know this” she says

"Yeah and sometimes that frustrates me that you won't let others take care of you especially me” Sid says

“Well I am going to give into you this time and let you take care of me “ Cassie says she actually was still having some pain from the cut

“Thank you baby and it's not that I don't want you to be independent I get that baby I just like to spoil you at times and take care of you show you how much I love you” Sid says

“You always show me how much you love me and I know baby “ Cassie says as he starts the chicken

“Good” he says as he starts to vegetables

“Yeah baby” Cassie says her mind thinking

“What are you thinking about” Sid asks

"Lots of things memories of stuff that's happened here stuff with us” Cassie says

"Like what” Sid says

"Well over the last week and half I thought of 2011” Cassie says

“Baby this time not like that time least I don't think it is” Sid says

“Yeah I know then I was thinking of 2009 the first cup win that was before I moved to Ohio I was still in Pittsburgh” Cassie says

"Yeah and now you're back not leaving plus that was back before I had this house” Sid says

"True I remember the weekend you made me drive back from Ohio to see where it was going to be and if I approved which it didn't matter “ Cassie says laughing

"Well I am glad I did cause it does matter now” Sid says

"It's still your house” Cassie says

"Yeah but someday it's going to be our house” Sid says

"You know you sound like Pascal” Cassie says

“Why” Sid asks

“Something he said after the last pre season game that's all” Cassie says

“You're not going to share it” Sid asks

“Nope not right now” Cassie says

“I will figure it out” Sid says smirking Cassie had looked at him and another memory came to her

“What” Sid asks “

2013 I am thinking of driving all night after seeing what happen in the isle game” Cassie says

“I still hated that you did that and took days off work because of me” Sid says thinking back

“Are you kidding me as soon as I saw it happen I was already packing and heading to the car I didn't care you were hurt and I knew it looked bad” Cassie says

“Yeah I will never forget waking up and you there I thought it was the pain meds messing with me and then looked at you in your pajamas I still can't believe you didn't change before you left” Sid says laughing

"It can be funny now but I was scared at the time you were my best friend and guess back then I already kind of started to have more feelings for you and you were hurt I just had to get home to you” Cassie says

“You just realized you said home just then” Sid says

“Pittsburgh always been home it's where I was born and raised it's where my family it's where you were. Ohio was just where I lived and had my job but my true home where I alway will be from no matter where I am and where I will always come back to is here” Cassie says

“Good cause even though Cole Harbor is home I think Pittsburgh is going to be home always now well except for summers, summers is Cole Harbor and Nova Scotia” Sid says

“I could live with that” Cassie says smiling

"Yeah I could too” Sid says

“So I am guessing that means when playing days are over you plan to stay with them team somehow” Cassie says

“Oh yeah no other place I want to be” Sid says as he finishes the chicken and vegetables

“I am glad I know even after you're done playing you still want to be involved with hockey and glad you are thinking of doing it here” Cassie says

"Yeah I can't think of any place I rather still do something with hockey with but here “ Sid says

“Yeah but that's a while away” Cassie says

"Yeah” he says as he brings the food over for them to the table

"Sid it’s definitely going to be a while away ok no worries” Cassie says

“Mario said the same thing right after we found out about the concussion “ he says

"He a wise man so no more worrying right now” Cassie says smiling

“Ok” Sid says as they sit down and enjoy dinner together

So Sid finds out and gets upset which she did hide about the job but for good reasons... Poor Cassie getting hurt and dealing with crazy Sid cause she was hurt lol...
