Knocked Down, Rise Above

Chapter 23

It was the day of the second game of the season Sid was going to skate then come back and do his normal game day routine he wasn't going to change it. People that really knew he knows he very superstitious and like to keep things the same especially on game day.

When he got that the arena he skated a little then was going to watch practice from the bench The team worked on the power play unit Sid hoped what him and Geno worked on helped

They were definitely doing better then yesterday Sid was happy with how they seemed coach Sullivan says

“whatever you and Geno worked on it's helping I mean it's not nearly what it is when you are there passing but I think it's definitely much better and we can work with it”

"Yeah he worked hard at what I was telling him to do I happy and proud of them right now” Sid says

“How are you feeling” coach asks

“Good yesterday I did get a little headache but skating working with G plus we went over about two hours of game film so nothing to really worry about” Sid says

"Ok if you think something needs to change let us know” Sullivan says

"Nope I think skating on my own and just watching how my body feels “ Sid says

“Good see you in the locker room before the game” he asks

“Oh yeah not changing any game day routine. Cassie is making lunch then nap then back to here” Sid says

“Good i am glad your not changing any of that up” Sullivan says

“Truly I can't it messes with me I am too superstitious I probably be worse off if I didn't stay into the routine with not playing and all” Sid says

“Yeah well I will see you later then” he says

Sid left to go home as he pulled in the driveway he saw another car in it and noticed it was his parents car. When the concussion happen he told them not to come down for the home opening to wait to come down for a game or two once he was playing again. He hadn't told them that him and Cassie were now a couple either. He walked into the house seeing his dad in the living room looking at a few things “What are you guys doing here I told you to wait til I was back playing” Sid days


“I know but your mom’s worried and I am too you really didn't give us much to go on” Troy says

"Cause there isn't much to say except I have to watch and go day by day” Sid says

"How bad is it really” Troy asks

“Not bad my career is not in jeopardy” Sid says “Sidney “ Troy says

"I am sorry just been frustrated with all this but good news is I am already skating on my own” Sid says

“That's definitely a good sign no balance issues” Troy asks

“Nope and little headache yesterday but nothing yet today” Sid says

"That's good so game tonight” Troy says

"Yeah and I am keeping with game day routines “ Sid says

“Yeah figured” Troy says

Cassie walked out you could tell she was nervous and flustered “Lunch is almost ready i am sorry it's not done for when you got home”

"It's ok “ Sid says

“There you are well you don't look too bad” Trina says to Sid

“Hey mom i am actually good skating already no balance issues it's going to be ok” Sid says

"Thank god” Trina says

"Hey I am going to borrow Cassie for a second I need to show her something I need taken care of can you finish lunch we won't be long” Sid says

"Yeah we will have to ready for when you're done” Trina says

Sid took Cassie down to his office and closes the door and says “ I am sorry I didn't know they were coming down you seem off”

"I just didn't know if they knew and what to say so I am walking on eggshells “ Cassie says

"They don't know cause I didn't want to just call them but we can tell them that while we eat” Sid says

"Ok” Cassie says nervously

"Cassie they are going to be fine they love you they are going to be as happy or happier than Geno” Sid says

“Ok” Cassie says laughing They headed back out to the table set and Trina and Troy waiting for them they sat down and Sid says to his parents

"I have something to tell you.”

"What it's not worse than you just told us is it” Trina asks

“No mom ok so I finally admitted my feeling to Cassie how I actually have been in love with her. took a concussion to actually make me realize it and she actually has the same feelings just didn't know how to tell me”

“Does this mean you two are together” Trina asks

"Yeah” Sid says

“Oh thank god there is a god and he listen to my prayers” she says happy

"Dad” Sid says to Troy worried when he hadn't said a thing yet

“I am just shocked I knew you had feeling for her I could tell but I never thought you realizes and tell her” Troy says

“Well it happen and it's not changing so please tell me you can be happy for us” Sid says

“Hell I am happy if you had told me it was anyone else I would be having a major talk with you telling you how you're screwing up the best thing that ever happen to you” Troy says

“So you knew for how long” Sid asks

"With You I think probably started 2010 Olympics plus then Cassie told you she got the job out of state. But I think I really knew when you broke up with that girl who couldn't stand Cassie at all” Troy says he couldn't even remember that girl name

"I mean I knew back in my head I guess but not like you did” Sid say

"I know and with Cassie I can pinpoint the day I knew” Troy says

"You knew I had feelings for him” Cassie asks

"Yeah sweetheart and I can tell you guys the date to be exact it March 30 and 31, 2013” Troy says

"Broken jaw” Sid says

“But how could you tell “ Cassie asks shocked

"Sweetheart we were on a plane as soon as we could be and you had beaten us here. You were here after driving almost three hours in the middle of the night. When we got here you were in the waiting room not getting any information from the damn nurse standing there ready to yell at her in pajamas with tears in your eyes pretty much gave it away” Troy says smiling

“Yeah I hated seeing how upset you were and I remember when we went to talk to the nurse with you with us and how she was so rude about you” Trina says

“Yeah” Cassie says

“I set her straight though I gave her a piece of my mind and then talk to who was in charge over her who kept saying how sorry they were. Like once we were there and it was you who the patient was they thought they be in huge trouble” Troy says

“Well you made it seem that way” Trina says smiling

"I did and I would do it again” Troy says

"I could see you so doing that” Sid says laughing

“Yeah and I remember once the team doctors got out there from everything they felt so bad they didn't know I was there and upset.” Cassie says

"Remember the first thing I said once Sid was awake and alert” Troy asks

"For god sake put her name on with ours as an emergency contacts and allowed information on you” Sid says

"I can't believe you remember that yeah you were awake but in a lot of pain” Cassie says

“Yeah but what was the first thing I did” Sid says to her

“Made them get the forms for both the hospital and the team doctors and fill them out and sign them” Cassie says

"Damn right and has there ever been an issue again that you couldn't know what was going on” Sid days

“Nope and for that I was always so glad “ Cassie says

"I knew this was meant to be I just couldn't be the one to push you two together so trust me I am so happy right now” Troy says smiling

“Wow I didn't know all that about that night” Sid says

“I am just shocked he knew for this long” Cassie says laughing

They talked while they finished lunch after Sid was ready to take normal pre game nap he started up the stairs Cassie was cleaning up the dishes when Trina stops her and takes the plates from her

"What” Cassie says

“I got clean up go lay down with him I know that even though it's not bad it's hard on him and sometimes he having difficulty with all this” Trina says

"Yeah he is before they knew it was a concussion the pre season game he sat out media said it happened at WCH and he flipped never seen him like that throw a photo frame at that beautiful custom mirror in his bedroom broke it to pieces I want to get it replaced but he told me not to” Cassie says

"Well now we are here too and can help go lay with him and this week me and you will Figured out about the mirror it will be our little project” Trina says smiling

“I am actually so glad you guys are here thanks” Cassie says hugging her

"We are happy to be sweetie now go” Trina says Cassie made her way up to Sid room his eyes were closed she laid down with him and as soon as she did he pulled her close and says

“that didn't take long to get finished and you come up here”

“Actually your mom pretty much stopped me and told me to get up here and lay down with you so I listened” Cassie says Sid laughed as he held her and started to fall asleep She fell asleep too As

Trina cleaned up she says Troy “ you never told me you knew about those two and how you knew they were meant to be together”

“Cause I knew you wanted them to be and they would have to figure it out on their own we couldn't push them” Troy says

“I wouldn't have totally pushed them but maybe help them see it” Trina says

“You been praying for it you would have pushed not in a bad way but they had to come to this on their own if it was going to work and it will” Troy says

“Yeah they are perfect for each other I am so happy about this” Trina says

“Yeah I think it's just what he needs in his life she balances him and she also gets him. He loves her more than anything and I think in some ways that scares him but he will be ok” Troy says

Had to add parents in it hope you all like it also I had to make it about the knowing they both had feelings but they didn't see it like others..... also that's gives us a little background on things with them I love adding stuff from past to this too.
