Road Trip

Chapter 36

With Sid out on the road Cassie was spending the day out shopping with Trina they were on their way to look at mall first “Oh I need to look for a mirror to replace the one from the bedroom” Cassie says

“You finally just going to do that for him” Trina asks

“Actually he told me to said he been meaning to do something I think the bare spot is a reminder of what happen” Cassie says

“We will find something” Trina says

“Yeah I told him was he sure since it's his room and he corrected me and told me it was our room” Cassie says

"It really is sweetie he knows you're it for him but don't think he wants to rush it and ask you that important question too soon and all” Trina says

" Yeah I know” Cassie says

“Hey why don't you call your mom and see if she wants to meet up with us we can make it a girls day” Trina says

“Are you sure” Cassie asks

“Oh yeah” Trina says Cassie called her mom and she was happy to meet up with them

They parked and headed to the food court area of the mall where they would meet up with Cassie mom Jenna saw Cassie and says “I am so glad you called

” “Me too mom glad you came out to meet up” cassie says hugging her mom

“How Sid? Dad and Uncle Paul were so mad at that hit last night” Jenna says

“He ok I talked to him last night said he fine and they put him through concussion protocol and it all came back ok” Cassie says

“Thank god hi Trina how have you been” Jenna says to her

“Great just finalizing the house here glad you come out with us today” trina says

" Oh that's right Cassie did say you guys were getting a house here that's wonderful and wouldn't have missed coming out with you both” Jenna says

They shopped for a while Cassie loved it she loved spending time with her mom that was another great things about being back in Pittsburgh was being back near her family

The team had practice then after were going over videos from some of the games to figure out what they needed to work on even though they won some games there was things they needed to work on Sid was really constraining on finding plays for the power play

You see anything maybe to change or work on” Rick asks

"Maybe G not on the point as much it's not the best place for him” Sid says

"He right I not great there” Geno says

“Ok we see what we can do to fix that” Rick says

"The stuff we did in Philly worked good but not sure it will work with the next two teams” Sid says

“I know we try some things out see what works and have a couple plans in place for it” Rick says

They studied the video for a while and got some plays in the works they could try

The next game was against the LA Kings and they ended up losing which none of the guys like

. They hated to lose but losing on a west coast long road trip just made it worse Geno who had taken a penalty that lead to winning goal comes into the locker room and thrown his stick breaking it

“God damn it G can you please stop taking dumb stick penalties” Sid says he was so mad that's how they lost

“You think want lose” Geno yells

"Well you taken stick penalties a lot this year so far it's getting old” Sid says as he sits at his locker in the room

"Screw you we can't all be perfect” Geno says

“I never said I was perfect I make mistakes but penalties are killing us” Sid says

Geno starts yelling in Russian

“That's it get mad and swear in Russian so I can't understand” Sid says pulling off his jersey and throwing it

" Guys stop” Kris says

"Don't get mad at him I told him to be captain and come in here and say something cause you guys don't want me saying shit cause I am so fed up with stupid penalties especially the stick ones. I was ready to make you guys skate laps. He stopped me and said let me say something” Sullivan yells

“It's whatever they can be mad I don't care right now” Sid says as he heads for the shower he hated when the team fought it wasn't what they needed especially when Geno and him fought

Geno waited til Sid to finish his shower before he went in to shower he just needed a few minutes to calm down and he didn't want to say anything more to him while he was mad

Sid got dressed and headed to the bus he purposely went all the way to the back to be alone he didn't want anymore fighting he just wanted to think how to help the team

Geno got on the bus and saw Sid in the back he knew that meant Sid wanted to be alone and think about things so he sat down with Kris

“He will be ok once we are back at the hotel” Kris says

“Yeah I wrong shouldn't have said what I did” Geno says

“He knows you said it out of frustration just like what he said was out of of frustration” Kris says

“Yeah” Geno says

The rest of the bus ride to the hotel was quiet no one said anything everyone headed to their rooms

Both Geno and Sid got to their room and sat down Sid says “look we are like brothers and there will be times we fight like tonight but you're my best friend nothing going to change that”

“Feel the same I try to not take penalties” Geno says

“I know I shouldn't have let my frustration get to me this is my first road trip of the year and usually the first is getting back into travel and stuff so I am sorry” Sid says

“Not be sorry it's good” Geno says

“We have one more game on this swing thank god” Sid says

“We go out and win this one go back Pittsburgh with win” Geno says “Sounds like a plan to me” Sid says as they settle in for the night
