Chapter 35

Sid finished up with the media and got his shower the team was flying to the west coast tonight but he would have a few minutes to see Cassie

He walked out to find her and his parents “God I am so proud of you baby that was amazing tonight” Cassie says hugging him

"Thanks baby beating philly always feels good” Sid says

“Yeah for sure and you be really proud she gave it to those Philly fans tonight” Troy says

"What happen” Sid says

“Fans going off about how you're a baby and made concussion out to be major” Cassie says

"Yeah but she told them and bragged every time you got a goal” Troy says laughing

“Are you ok” Sid says worried about Cassie

“Yeah it was hard at first but I had a few drinks and I am fine now baby trust me” Cassie says

"I am sorry about them” Sid says

“Baby it's ok really I love you and I am going to miss you so much” Cassie says hugging him tight

" I love you too baby and I will miss you trust me” Sid says kissing her as they hug

Troy walked out to the bus the team was taking with Sid

“Make sure she ok please the next few days” Sid says to Troy

“We will we are still at your house we can't move into the new house for a few weeks but she will be ok you know this” Troy says

" Yeah I know but it's the first road trip and I worry about her” Sid says

“I know have a good road trip we will see you when you get back” Troy says

"Thanks dad” Sid says as he gets on the team bus to the airport and

Troy headed back to the girls to head to the airport to fly home to Pittsburgh.

They got on the plane and Geno and Sid sat together Geno was on a happy mood he says “we watch movie”

“You can put one on G but think I might be asleep before the end of it” Sid says

“Still movie even if we fall sleep long flight” Geno says

“Sounds good” Sid says as they got comfortable for the long flight

Both fell asleep before the movie was over along with the most of the rest of the team They would be on the west coast a week as they had three games though they have two days before the first game to get used to the time difference and all they made it to their hotel rooms

Sid texted Cassie telling her he made it to the hotel and went to bed as they had practice in the morning

The next morning when they got to practice they found out as long as practice went well for Kris he would be cleared to start the next game which was the Sharks and they been looking for a physical game still upset about being beat in the finals

It was finally the first game of the west coast swing and they did have Kris back in the lineup They were in the locker room getting ready for the game “They will be out for us since we beat them for the cup last year” Sid says to the team

"Yeah so everyone be careful and watch out for them” Coach Sullivan says

"They try we still beat them this time” Geno says

“We got this for sure” Kris says

Matt Murray was starting in goal with Marc being back up They head out to the ice and the Anthem is played Cassie was on the couch with her blanket ready to watch a late night game Troy was watching with her from the chair

Cassie said a quick pray and did the cross as Sid did it after the anthem finished.

The first half of the period was physical with no score when Sid got a breakaway and no one was catching him he shot the puck and right in the net As he went around to celebrate the goals shark player who has been racing up ice checks him hard into the boards and as Sid went down hit him back into the boards again

Cassie was already up off the couch watching “get up sid” she says

Sid got up slowly but looked a little dazed

“shake it off Sidney” Troy says hoping this wouldn't be a set back

There was as still a few minutes left in the first period but Sid was off the ice and already on his way down to the locker room “God please let him be ok” Cassie says as she starts to pace

"He got up on his own that's good Cassie he will be ok” Troy says

“He looked dazed” Cassie says

“I know but it could have been just been cause he wasn't expecting it” Troy says

“What the hell no penalty either that was after the goal” Cassie says

Geno wasn't on the ice at the time goes to go over the boards he was as ready to go after the guy he was so pissed Rick Tocchet held him back on the bench “Let go” Geno says

“No Geno think smart you will get game misconduct penalty we can't have that it's not helping Sid you getting kick out of the game we go out and score goals”

Geno was still pissed but listen to him Cassie started to pace as the period ended Trina who had been upstairs reading a book could tell something was wrong and says “what happen”

“We don't know yet he got boarded pretty hard into the boards went right off” Troy says

"Concussion” Trina asks

"Well I am sure that's why he off the ice has to go through concussion protocol I mean it was a hard hit and he looked dazed so NHL would definitely pull him to go through it “Troy says

“I am sick not knowing if he ok” Cassie says

“He is being taken care of by the best sweetie if something major wrong they will let us know they will call” Trina says

“She right sweetheart try to relax til we hear something” Troy says

She was pacing the on the floor she hated feeling like this but not knowing was worse not being there in case or was a concussion again and him breaking down she felt so horrible right now

Half way through the intermission break Troy’s phone rang it was Mario he answers it and says “Mario do you know anything”

"I just called to tell you right now all I know is he has to go through the league's concussion protocol” Mario says

“Yeah figured that” Troy says

“Is he ok” Cassie asks”

Troy held his hand up saying give him a moment to finish talking to Mario

“It doesn't mean he has one just they are making him go through it as soon as I know something I will let you know” Mario says

“Thanks Mario and thanks for calling to let us know what is going on “ Troy says as they finish and he hangs up

"What's going on” Trina asks

“Yeah is it bad what he say” Cassie asks she was talking faster

“Ok both of you sit down and calm down please” Troy says

“It's another concussion isn't it” Cassie says ready to cry

"All Mario said and knows is he going through the league’s concussion protocol doesn't mean he has one just he has to have that done before he can play” Troy says

Cassie shivers she was upset and got more cold when she was upset or nervous Trina wrapped a her blanket around her and says

"it's ok sweetie once they know we are their first call”

The second period was about to start and that's when they saw Sid was out there to play “Oh thank god” Cassie says relief washes over her

“That's the Sidney I know won't let them knock him down” Troy says as his phone rang

“Hey he passed he ok no concussion” Mario says

"Yeah we just saw him on TV” Troy says

“Figured but wanted you to hear it from me” Mario says

“Thanks Mario really” Troy says

“No problem I am sure Cassie is upset tell her he will call her after the game once he done with media and his shower” Mario says

"I will thanks again” Troy says

Cassie was watching the game when Troy says “once he done with media and his shower he will call you Mario says to her

"Oh thank you I just want to hear from him he totally fine and all. And I want to talk to Geno to make sure he takes care of him since they are roommates” “

Oh Geno will take care of him trust me” Troy says

Just as he said they Geno was on the ice with the guy who hit Sid and went right after him and they both were in a drag down fight

"Think he just proved that” Cassie says laughing

"Yeah always protects his captain but it's also because they are best friends like brothers” Troy says

“They are him Geno,Pascal and Max too” Cassie says

“Oh don't I know that try dealing with all four at one time” Troy says laughing

“Oh I know try being at a bar with all four when Geno wants to bring out the Vodka out and Max is ready to party” Cassie says laughing

Troy laughed

" Well glad he defended Sid but taking a major penalty like that wasn't good either” Cassie says

“Yeah but he will be back for the third least he has wasn't thrown out of the game” Troy says

“Shocked he wasn't” Trina says

“I know” Cassie says

The rest of the game was just as physical as the start and close but in the end the Penguins on by a goal which was all they needed to do Cassie was just glad that game was over now she just had to stay up to get the call from Sid she didn't care if it was already after one in the morning she had to hear his voice to be able to sleep tonight
