Chapter 38

Thanksgiving on the Road

The next few weeks were now getting into the real season for them few home games then away games. Cassie always was used to Sid having a crazy schedule and now she was having to get used to it with them as a couple which she was handling very well.

. Well until now they has just had their last home game before a two game road trip which would have the team be gone for thanksgiving. “This sucks you guys leaving tonight and missing thanksgiving” Cassie says she truly was upset it was the first time she been upset about him having to leave .

"Baby I am sorry we don't make the schedule but I will be home late Friday night and you will be at the game Saturday” Sid says.

"I know but you will miss the family dinner at my grandparents house.” Cassie says.

he did feel bad about that as one her aunt would most likely say something smart ass about it. But also Sid have met her grandparents and truly loved them “I am sorry “ he says feeling bad.

“It's not your fault” Cassie Says.

“Hey about Sunday afternoon we have dinner at our place, me you our parents your uncle and grandparents I will figure out everything and take care of it” Sid says wanting to do something special to make her smile.

“I love that and no Aunt Rachel” Cassie says.

“Oh hell no we aren't inviting her I bet I will still be having to fix whatever crap she pulls with you from thanksgiving that woman is a bitch sorry” Sid says.

“She is thank you for not inviting her and for doing this I means a lot trust me” Cassie says.

“I know baby and think Christmas Eve til the day after Christmas no games so we can do Christmas up right” Sid says.

“I love you do you know that” Cassie says.

“I do but I love hearing you say it. I love you too baby I will call you on thanksgiving definitely at some point” Sid says hugging and kissing her.

Their next game was in New York against the Rangers who they had just lost to in Pittsburgh. The team wasn't about to lose to them again and went out and played a very physical and offensive game as they just buried them. They wouldn't leave for their next game til early in the morning Thanksgiving day.

Geno decided they needed to celebrate and he got the vodka. Sid didn't want to even be out let alone drink so he had a beer at the bar and told Geno that was all he was about to do. There were many Penguin fans at the bar and many had been asking for photos with the guys they were nice and took photos with them after and hour of being hounded for photos and Sid says to Geno “come one let's just got back to the hotel.

” “But I want to drink” Geno says.

“I will buy you your own bottle of Vodka to have back at the hotel I just done being bothered tonight.

. “Ok fine” Geno says.

The team headed back to the hotel and Sid went right to bed They flew out the next morning then has a practice once they got in.

Cassie had just gotten to her grandparent's house for thanksgiving she had seen a few fans posted photos with the guys last night it didn't really bother her she knew Sid took photos he was an all around great guy to his fans. Geno looked like he was having fun which Cassie shook her head at

She had helped her mom and grandma set the table for dinner when her aunt Rachel comes in and says “I see your hockey boyfriend was out last night and all over a girl”.

Cassie shook her head she knew her aunt would start “They took photos with fans they do it all the time” Cassie says.

"Well it looked like more than that” Rachel says.

“Rachel stop Sid didn't do anything you're talking about so please stop and don't ruin thanksgiving” Jenna says as everyone else comes in for dinner.

“Well where is he huh not here having thanksgiving with her and family” Rachel says.

"They are on a road trip he doesn't make the schedule” Cassie says she was getting more upset.

“Rachel just stop you just like to bully Cassie and it's wrong” Paul says.

“Everyone stop and let's have dinner and remember what we are thankful for” her grandfather says.

It took only five minutes into dinner for Rachel to start again and really push it “well I can see why he was all over her she is much prettier than you and I don't know why he had ever been friends with you let alone date you” she says.

Cassie had enough she got up from the table and walked out of the house on to the porch tears in her eyes Paul was getting up to go after her when Matt says “give her some space”.

"Rachel I never said this to your face but today I am your nothing but a fucking bitch that is my daughter you just hurt and you better figure out a way to apologize and mean it and until you do maybe you shouldn't be at family dinners”Jenna says.

“Mom dad are you going to defend me” Rachel says

“‘Maybe you should leave” her mom says.

“I can't defend you when you just pulled what you did” Paul says.

Cassie was on the porch when her phone rang it was Sid he was done with practice and finally got to call her.

"Hey baby happy thanksgiving” Sid says.

“Whatever maybe you should just go back out to the bar where the girls are that are more pretty than me” she says

“Cassie what are you talking about what's wrong” Sid says.

“I am not good enough for you I never will be I get it I do” Cassie says

"Cassie” Sid says.

"Sorry I can't talk” Cassie says she was crying harder Sid didn't know what to do.

Paul finally had come out when Jenna and Matt told him to go Check on her as they didn't think she want them to Sid had called again and Cassie wasn't answering the phone so Paul took the phone and answered it he explains the whole thing to Sid .

"Well that explains a lot but nothing happen I love Cassie more than life and more than hockey that's says something” Sid says.

“I know that and trust me she knows that just what Rachel said hurt her and she just too upset to think in a right frame of mind right now” Paul says.

“Yeah true” Sid says.

"She will be ok you guys will be ok so don't let this get to you and don't let it effect your game Friday or she will be more upset” Paul says.

"Yeah I know will you tell her to call me later if she feeling up to it” Sid asks .

“I will” Paul says.

Sid was upset he had ig but was private on there and hardly posted on it but he went and found a recent photo of him and Cassie and posted with the the caption “today and everyday I am thankful for this wonderful girl I have in my life she is my everything I love her so much” then he tagged cassie in it.

After while Cassie finally calmed down and Paul says” look at Ig”

Cassie pulled it up and saw the photo and started to cry it was so sweet what he said “I was dumb wasn't I” she says.

“No and he gets it aunt Rachel hurt you and it at the time your mind wasn't thinking right really he knows you didn't mean anything you said” Paul says.

“I can't believe I let her get to me so bad. I actually told Sid I wasn't good enough for him” Cassie says.

“You can call him he said so told me to tell you if you felt up to calling to call” Paul says.

Cassie dialed his phone hoping he answer it took a few rings then he answered and says “baby” “I am so sorry” Cassie says with tears.

“Hey it's ok are you ok now” Sid asks.

"A little I am sorry I love you and know you love me and all my aunt just got to me” Cassie says.

"I know baby but you have to know you are enough for me you're good enough for me and I don't want anyone else. That's what that ring I have you means you have my heart and only you.” Sid says.

"I know baby” Cassie says.

"I love you so much more than anything” Sid says.

“Really even more than hockey” Cassie asks?

“Yeah even more than hockey” Sid says.

“I miss you” Cassie says.

“I miss you too did you have dinner” Sid asks.

"Well I didn't finish it this happen during dinner” Cassie says.

“Baby please go eat even if you have to take your plate somewhere else we are getting ready to go have dinner but if you need anything I will have my phone” Sid says.

“Ok baby love you and in case we don't talk before tomorrow good luck with the game” Cassie says.

Thanks baby I will be home tomorrow night also I got it all taken care of for dinner on Sunday invite everyone you want to “ Sid says.

They hang up and Cassie went back into the house to eat.

“You ok” Jenna asks.

“I am fine but if she staying I am taking my plate somewhere else “ Cassie says.

"Well then guess you're going someplace else” Rachel says
as she wasn't about to leave.

“Come on Cassie me you and hunter will eat in the game room” Paul says

“Ok” Cassie says

"Fine by me” Hunter says wanting to get away from Rachel

Thanksgiving been ruined” Jenna says

“Well Sunday at Cassie will be better” Matt says as Cassie has invited everyone earlier before her Aunt had shown up

“What about her having dinner I wasn't invited” Rachel says

“No you weren't and you're not going to be to be she was told specific not to invited you by Sid cause he knows the crap you always pull and he doing this so she can have thanksgiving with him so see your wrong totally about him but you don't care you just like to hurt Cassie” Jenna says she was done she had enough of Rachel crap

Rachel was so mad she finally left and everyone tries to enjoy dinner. After dinner they watched a movie like always before everyone headed home with plans for the dinner on Sunday
