Chapter 39

With You I am Home

Cassie watched the game the day after thanksgiving and was so glad when it was over that meant Sid would be flying home and be home later that night.

Cassie was still upset over what her aunt had pulled at thanksgiving.

Sid couldn't wait to get home he was still feeling horrible about what happend to Cassie her aunt and he knew that cassie aunt really did a number on her with everything he hoped having Thanksgiving with the rest of her family at their house would make up for it he loved thinking of his house as theirs now. He wanted to get home but decided he needed to stop and get flowers and chocolate cupcakes her fave.

Cassie had fallen asleep in his reclining chair in the game room after the game she hadn't slept well the night before. Sid walked in the house he saw his dad sitting at his counter with some papers “Where Cassie?” Sid asks

"She asleep in the game room she didn't sleep well last night. Did something happen she doesn't seem herself” Troy asks


“Her damn aunt started on her at thanksgiving dinner i really want to tell that woman off for what she pulled” Sid says

"Well you should go get her and try to get her to sleep in bed” Troy says

"Yeah thanks dad” Sid says as he heads to the game room he sees her sleeping and puts down the flowers and cupcakes. He reaches down to pick her up and she wakes up “oh thank god you're home” she says wrapping her arms around his neck really tight

"Yeah baby let go so I can pick you up and we can go bed” Sid says

Cassie didn't let go she just snuggled into his neck and that's when he heard the crying and felt the tears coming from her eyes hitting him “Baby it's ok” Sid says he was able to get them sitting in the chair and recline it.

She said in between tears “I am sorry I just don't want to let go or be away from you right now not after how awful yesterday was”

“It's ok baby just try to go back to Sleep please I am here and I am not going anywhere right now” Sid says grabbing her blanket and covering her up

She cries more until she was asleep but Sid knew there was no way he was going to be able to move them tonight His dad came looking for them and Sid saw him and whispers “can you get the comforter and two pillows off my bed”

“Yeah she ok?” Troy whispers

"She will be and now that she asleep I don't want to take a chance moving us” Sid says

Troy got the stuff for Sid and once Sid had them covered up and all he fell asleep too

Cassie woke up in the morning and when she saw that her and Sid were both asleep on the chair she felt bad that couldn't be the best place for him to sleep she kisses him

“Hey baby are you ok” Sid asks waking up

"Yeah but I feel horrible that has to be the worse place for you to have slept last night” Cassie says

Nope it was the best I got to Hold you and be with my girl that's all that matters.” Sid says

"I am better today I promise I just needed sleep” Cassie says

“I know baby” Sid says kissing her

“So game today you ready for it” Cassie asks

“Yeah I am going to take the option not to skate so I am here til leave for the game so we can do lunch together go over everything for tomorrow and take a nap together” Sid says

“That sounds perfect” Cassie says

“Good” Sid says

They cooked lunch together and then sat down to eat and talked about Sunday dinner as they had lunch. Afterwards they went to lay down for the nap Cassie was excited for the game tonight she was up and dressed waiting for Sid to finish getting ready He came out and says “Are you ready baby”

“Yep let's go” Cassie says

The game was not so great for the team as they suffered a lost in overtime but least they get a point out of the night

They had a huge day planned for the next day so they went to bed once they got home from the game. Cassie woke up and went to start getting stuff ready for dinner. “What can I help with” Trina asks

“There not much to make Sid made sure to take care of all the stuff and ordered most of it but I wanted to make my grandma pumpkin pie and banana bread” Cassie says

“Well please let me help with some of it ok” Trina says

“Sure I still can't believe he planned all this he doesn't know how much it means to me” Cassie says

"He does trust me” Trina says as they get the loafs of banana bread in the oven

. Sid walked downstairs he wanted to make sure everything got taken care of he didn't want Cassie having to do anything when he got in the kitchen he says “ hey what are you doing you aren't to have to do anything today”

"I am just making my grandma banana bread and pumpkin pie I wanted to baby and there's time before everyone gets here” Cassie says “

Oh I invited Geno and Pascal over too” Sid says

“Good I know Pascal still getting the move for the family ready plus haven't seen him for a bit. And Geno is basically family so wouldn't be right if he was here” Cassie says laughing

"Yeah” Sid says

“You can do me a favor I don't think the table in the dining room is big enough cause we hardly use it so can you add the leafs to it so it's full size” Cassie asks

“Already on my list of things to do baby” Sid says

“Thanks baby” Cassie says

"Welcome baby I love you” Sid says kissing her

"I love you too now let me get this stuff finished so we can enjoy the day” Cassie says

Sid got the dining room already he moved a table in there to put all the food on and when the cater got there got it all set up then went up and got ready as everyone would be arriving soon

A little later the guest started to arrive first was Geno with pascal who brought wine with him “You didn't have to bring anything “ Cassie says

“Not true and let me see your hand "pascal says seeing the ring onnir

What” Cassie says

"Busted” Geno says

"What the hell man you go and do this and don't say anything” pascal says to Sid

"Its just a promise ring til ready to ask the big question” Sid says

“But you do plan on asking the big question” pascal says

"Oh yeah” Sid says

“Told you he quit being dumb” Geno says

“See I was right with what I said “ pascal says to Cassie

“I know you were” Cassie says smiling

“Someone want to tell me what you two are talking about” Sid says

"Nope just that I was right” pascal says laughing Just then Cassie grandparents and uncle arrive “Thanks for having us over it means a lot” Jake says to Sid

“It was nothing sir its important to have family for holidays even if it has to be late” Sid says “I know and stop calling me sir Sidney we talked about this Jake or pap now that you and Cassie are together” Jake says smiling

Her grandma hugged Cassie then Sid as her uncle says to Cassie “how are you”

“I am fine as long as she doesn't show up” Cassie says

“She won't trust me “ Paul says to her as her parents and Hunter arrive

Well everyone is here so we can go eat dinner then maybe watch the football game or a movie” Cassie says as they all head to the table

“Sounds good to me” Jake says

“Wow everything looks amazing” Jenna says

"Thanks including me” Geno says

"Your family G both me and Cassie feel the same way about that” Sid says

“He right” Cassie says

They all get their food and sit down and Cassie says “well we always go around and say what we are thankful for the year so why don't we do that first before we eat”

“Its tradition and I will go first “I am thankful for my granddaughter being back home finally it's been too long she was gone for” Jake says

“I second that and thankful for family dinners like this that bring us all together” her grandma says

Next went Trina “I am thankful for finally we moved here to Pittsburgh and are closer to Sid” she says

“I am thankful for that too and also that this time wasn't like 2011 for Sid” Troy says

"I am thankful Aunt Rachel isn't here” Hunter says

“I think we all can second that. I am thankful for family and my niece and nephew who are like my own kids oh and the Penguins being Stanley Cup Champs again” Paul says


“I like the last one” Geno says laughing

"I am thankful for my family and that Cassie back here” Matt says

“I am thankful for a husband who has always put me and the kids first and kids who always understand how lucky they are to have him as a dad” Jenna says


“Well I am thankful for family, health and friends” pascal says

“For my team who like family especially Sid who like brother and his family for always includes me” Geno says

“I am thankful for many things this year by the top 5 are five, the team and the cup win four, winning World Cup for my country. Three, friends who are always there. Two my family and especially thankful now that my parents live here. And one Cassie for dealing with me taking forever to realize what was right in front of me my everything I be lost without her” Sid says

"Aww baby I am thankful for you two and thankful I lost that job and you asked me to come back home it was the best thing that's happen in a long time. I am thankful for my family and to be back home with them” Cassie says

They said grace and then ate dinner after it was watching the football game in the game room with desserts and snacks it was ty perfect thanksgiving Cassie could ask for as she sat beside Sid cuddling to him she was feeling so much better. He made the perfect family thanksgiving happen for her.
