Chapter 5

Holiday skating

Cassie and Sid had seen each other here and there as their schedules would allow. Cassie went to a few of the home games on her family tickets

Thanksgiving came and went and it was almost Christmas Sid had asked Cassie if they could met for lunch after practice in early December Cassie met him at arena and says “What's up Hockey God” “m

"Just want to hang out with my best friend for a little bit” Sid says

“Well I am glad cause I needed a break from studying for finals” Cassie says as they head to a restaurant Sid liked it was so low key

"Well I am glad I have something to ask you” Sid says

“Ok” Cassie says

“So the team has their holiday skate and I was wondering as my best friend if you come with me” Sid asks

“What about your parents and sister” Cassie says

“Not sure if they will be in yet as it's the weekend before Christmas had to plan it a weekend we are in town plus I like to spend some time with you” Sid says

“I love to come I love to skate” Cassie says

“You actually skate” Sid says

"Yeah remember hunter plays hockey I have my own skates they older but they are hockey skates no regular skates for this girl” Cassie says

“It seem to still shock me every time we talk “ Sid days

“Do I have to wear anything special for this” Cassie asks

“Well I got you a early Christmas present” Sid says

“Oh I got you something but it's at home it's for Christmas” Cassie says

“You can give me it later but this you need for the skate” Sid says

She opened it and saw it was a jersey with his name and number on it

"I got one in a size that will fit you so you won't swim in it like the other one I gave you “ Sid says laughing

“Wow thanks you didn't really have to do this” Cassie says

“It was nothing trust me Cassie plus your my best friend and done a lot for me it's the least I could do” Sid says

“I can't wait for the skate it will be fun” Cassie says

“I know I can't wait either but also it's my first event like this and I am awkward still with these things” Sid says

"You will be fine it will be fun” Cassie says

They finished lunch and Sid drops her back off at school they wouldn't see each other til the skate as the team had a road trip

The road trip went ok out of three games they only won one but the team was getting better

Cassie was finishing getting ready to go to the skate with Sid she just put the jersey on and was getting her skates when he knocked on the door she ran to get it glad her roommate was out

“Ready to go” Sid asks

"Yup” Cassie says as she carried her skates

“Damn these are old” Sid says seeing the skates has been used a bit

“They are a pair of Hunter’s so they been through it all” Cassie says

"Yeah” Sid says he knew he was getting her new hockey skates after today
They head to the arena once there Cassie got nervous it wasn't just them it would be the whole team and she hadn't really be around them with Sid “Ready” Sid says

“Yes and no” Cassie says

“What's wrong” Sid asks

“It's just we are best friends and around you I am fine but I haven't meant any of the others and what will they say about me coming with you and all” Cassie says

"One don't worry ok we are friends I invited you two you know the Lemieuxs and they will be there” Sid says

"That does help some” Cassie says

“Good let's go” Sid says Ok” Cassie says still nervous

"Hey it's going to be ok this is one of my first events like this too so we are in this kind of together best friends looking out for each other” Sid says

“Sorry your right and this is important to you” Cassie says as they get out of the truck

“It's ok” Sid says as they head into the arena

Mario was the first one to see them and says “Hey Sid hi Cassie nice to see you” “Thanks Mario” Cassie says

“Yeah we become pretty much best friends so I asked her to come with me” Sid says

"I am glad you become friends he needs friends close in age here so this makes me happy” Mario says

"Yeah I think it's helped me here” Sid says

“Good go enjoy skating Nathalie and the kids are around too somewhere” Mario says

" Sounds good” Sid says

Sid and Cassie got their skates on and headed on the ice

“Wow” Cassie says

"Never skated out here” Sid asks

“Nope one thing I never done so I am going to take in every moment” Cassie says

“Well I am glad then enjoy it” Sid says

Cassie was pretty good at skating Cassie skates around the ice she was having fun

“Mario said you had brought Cassie with you that you two have become friends” Nathalie says as she skates to where he was standing

“Yeah it's nice she lets me just be Sidney she doesn't care about anything else and I like having at least a friend here who gets that” Sid says

“She will totally understand that she also understands the game been it around all her life. Her family loves the game and her brother played since he was like four. She a good friend to have” Nathalie says

"Yeah I mean we don't really get to hang out alot with my schedule and her school schedule” Sid says

"Yeah she worked hard to get into Pitt so she won't stop working hard to keep up with it in college but you can spend some time with her today so go skate with her” Nathalie says to him

Sid started to skate out to where she was she saw him and says “Oh Hockey God you decided to come out and join in”

“God don't call him Hockey God that will go to his head” Max Talbot says

“Yeah we already hear it from everyone around this city” Marc says teasing

“It's a joke cause he doesn't act like a hockey god even though he so good he can he down to earth and grounded” Cassie says

“Jeez you got her wrapped around your finger” Max says laughing

"It's true and you from this season so far what I can tell is your the cocky one” cassie says

"She told you” Marc says

"Well it's true and I am fine with that” Max says

Cassie shakes her head at them

" Well we are going to go skate” Sid says to them

"Before you introduces us” Max says

"Oh I know who you guys are already no for introductions” Cassie says

"Really now well that's a shame since you know who we are and we don't know your name” max says

Sid just shakes his head st Max as much as he loved the guy as a friend when it came to girls Max was such a flirt and it drove Sid nuts at times

"Well even though you know who we are I am Marc Andre it's nice to meet you” marc says to Cassie

“It's nice to meet you too Marc I am Cassie but we meet a few times before” Cassie says

“Where” Marc asks

"At my brother hockey games you used to come to them last year” Cassie says

“Oh the team Mario Nephew plays on well since nice to meet you again I guess” Max was already up to no good he had a thing of mistletoe in his pocket to have a little fun and he got the idea he had to use it on Cassie especially after she pretty much called him cocky

He pulled it out and skates toward Cassie and holds it over them and says “wow look at that we are under the mistletoe and you know what that means” Max says laughing

“Oh in your dreams” Cassie says she wasn't about to kiss Max Talbot he was cocky and pretty much a flirt she already knew this just from what she seen with him this year on the team

Sid was getting mad just at the idea of what Max was pulling just then Max goes and just kisses Cassie right on the lips

“You're an ass you know that” Cassie says pissed and skates off to get away from him

“What the hell dude” Sid says grabbing Max he was mad


“Calm down man it was a joke” Max says laughing

"Did it look like she was happy about that she told you no” Sid says he was so mad

“What is your problem I thought you guys were just friends” Max says

“We are she's my best friend and you hurt her that pisses me off” Sid says he was ready to pretty much hit Max

“Sid just go check on Cassie” Nathalie says coming over after she saw what happen they didn't need teammates fighting

“Fine but I am still pissed at you Max” Sid says giving him a look

Max knew just to let him calm down and they be fine Max really did it as a joke he didn't know Sid was going to get pissed

Sid went and found Cassie sitting over on the bench the visiting team usually used he wanted to try to stay calm around her since she was upset so when he saw where she was sitting he says “you know you're sitting on the wrong bench”

“Yeah well it was the closest seat I passed” Cassie says she actually had tears in her eyes

“Hey what's wrong” Sid asks her worried

“It's dumb” Cassie says

“Talk to me Cassie we are friends” Sid says

“Ok I dated a guy over the last year but we never kissed on the lips we kissed on the cheek and he kissed me head. We broke up right before going to college” Cassie says

“So Max doing what he did was you're first actual kiss on the lips” Sid says

“Yeah I told you it was dumb” Cassie says

"No it's not it bothers you because you didn't get to decide on your first kiss if it's any thing I haven't really had a actual kiss hell I didn't even go to a prom ever” Sid says

"You know missing prom isn't all that bad mine sucked and I know Max was just joking around and being his usual ass of a self so I am sorry for running off” Cassie says

"You know we could put him in the penalty box” Sid says giving her a look then laughing

“Well he knows that box well already” says laughing

“You ok now” Sid asks her

"Yeah let's go skate let's see if you can keep up Hockey God”

Cassie says going on to the ice and skating away from him fast

Sid laughs as he skates off to catch her he was actually having fun and it was nice to relax a little as he felt so much pressure to be so much for this team.

A lot fell on his shoulders but today he could just be an 18 year boy having fun with his friends As they left after it was over Cassie says “Thanks for inviting me I had fun and it was nice to see you plus see you have fun and relax sometimes when I watch the games I can see how serious you are and how much pressure you seem to have on yourself”

"Today was so nice and relaxed and I have you to thank for that and for coming with me and putting up with my teammates. Today with was no pressure to perform and it was just what I needed.” Sid says

He headed back to drop her off at her dorm she says

“wait here for a minute I have something for you”

Sid waited as she come down with two presents for him.

“Should I wait to open them up?” Sid asks

"No go ahead I already opened mine from you in fact I am wearing it” Cassie says laughing

The first one he opened of the two things it was a shirt that says “that's right I am the Hockey god” he laughed seeing it.

When he opened the second it was a little snow globe of the view from Mount Washington

"That so you can remember you new home I know it's not really home. I want you to always remember the view of Mount Washington and how this city loves you and is always behind you no matter what” Cassie says

“Cassie it's perfect thank you but your friendship was all I needed this year” Sid says

“Yeah I feel the same now make sure you wear the shirt I want a photo of you in it” Cassie says laughing

Oh no way” Sid says giving her a look

They said their goodbyes and said they try to get together before the next road trip that would start as the new year started.

Another chapter thought him inviting her to that event would be something kind of special and had to add max and come on so could see max pulling something like that true max fashion there lol
