She Was The Friend He Needed

Chapter 6


First season ends

The rest of the season flew by between school and working Cassie had been crazy busy for the spring semester but she did make it to a few games including the final home game of the season a few days ago Now the players were all clearing out the locker rooms and wouldn't be back til training camp

Sid was sad the season was over but happy to be going home to Cole Harbor where he was just Sidney to so many. Where for part of the summer before he starting training he could relax get out on the boat and do some fishing even.

He was meeting Cassie for lunch today and would leave tomorrow. Cassie was so sad the hockey season was over now that Sid would have time to hang out she be here in Pittsburgh and he would be in Canada how could her best friend be that far away for the whole summer

She was glad they were meeting up for lunch today at least she get to see him before he left. They went to one of their fave places it was a little diner they ordered and waiting for their food. “I can't believe how fast the season went” he says

“I know seems like we had just met and it had just started” Cassie says

"I know I am going to miss you and actually miss the city. Finally when have some time to hang out I won't even be in town”

“I know I will miss you plus you're going to miss all the awesome stuff that happen here in the summer” Cassie says

“I know it kind of sucks but I miss home too” Sid says

“I bet you do plus your family” Cassie says

“Yeah especially my little sister” Sid says

"Yeah I know when Hunter leaves for college I will miss him a lot” Cassie says

“Why don’t we do something fun today together before I have to leave” Sid says

“What you have in mind” Cassie asks

“I don't know what's one of your fave things to do at this time of the year” Sid asks as it was a nice spring day

“Really go to the zoo I mean it's nicer weather out but not as crowded as the summer time” Cassie says

“Then zoo it is sounds fun” Sid says

“And we have to see the Penguins you know there one now named after you” Cassie says

“Yeah it's kind of weird but also cool” Sid says laughing as they finished their food and headed to the zoo It was still a colder day so Sid handed her one of his hoodies in his truck and they both put one on and they headed in.

They stopped and saw the lions and tigers first “It's this fun and great when there is not a lot of people around” Cassie says laughing and smiling

“I am glad I know school been hard for you plus you have been working” Sid says

“Gotta do what I got to do. I am on scholarship for school and can't let my grades slip” Cassie says

“Yeah but you are determined that I can tell” Sid says “I am my dad always worked two jobs since Hunter got into hockey. He didn't want mom to ever have to work, but mom decided she wanted to work to help too. We always helped each other out. Sorry I don't know what I said all that” Cassie says

“Cassie I know how much hockey cost to play. Your family works hard to make sure you and Hunter have always been taken care of and you want make sure you stay on scholarship to help” Sid says he was glad she opened up to him

"Yeah come on I want to see the Penguins before we have to leave” Cassie says trying to not talk about that now

“Ok let's go” Sid days They spend some time looking at the Penguins and Sid was able to get that they could go and feed them since one was named after him. He usually wouldn't use who he was for anything but he wanted to give Cassie something special since they wouldn't see each other for a while.

Cassie was back home for the summer so Sid drove he home which wasn't too far from Mario’s where he lives he pulls into her driveway and she leans over and says as she hugs him “I am going to miss you Hockey God”

"I am going to miss you too Cassie” Sid says

"Call me when you get home so I know you got there safely” Cassie says

“Will do hey maybe you can come up to Cole Harbor for a few days during the summer maybe either for Canada day in July or my birthday in early August” Sid says he wanted to see her before end of the summer

“Call me and we can see maybe we will Figure it out” Cassie says as she waves to him and walked to her house

Sid couldn't believe how much he was going to miss Pittsburgh it was actually starting to be home.
