AAOOOSC!: Gulls' Adventures!

"The Icemare Decade"

The inside is a grand, lively place: There are two stories with the second floor as a hallway wrapping itself around the circumference of the building high up.

In the large space below the second floor is a massive dance floor with people dressed in vintage, elegant outfits swinging their partners around and jiggling their feet to the groovy beat of swing music. The lively music is provided by the orchestra in the back with trumpets, drums, saxophones, basses, piano, cornets, and the composer.

Between the doorway and the dance floor are tables and benches scattered about before the staircases located on both sides. There, more people are sitting, watching the dancers and clapping to the tune of the energetic music.

Bryan halts in front of the view, gazing at it with pure awe. “Whoa-oh!” He spins around to face the others with a surprised expression. “Isn't this so cool, guys?!”

Joseph rolls his eyes. “Woo,” he says apathetically.

Bryan takes a quick glance at the twirling dancers, before excitedly turning back to his best friend. “Pickle Stew, Pickle Stew, can we dance?!” He points behind him to the dancers. “I really wanna dance, it looks like so much fun!”

Stu purses his lips at him. “Um no, not a good idea--”

“Awesome, let's go!” With that, Bryan pulls his friend down the room and onto the dance floor.

With the drumming of the drums, Bryan starts bobbing to the music. The trumpets then begin to roar and with the rumbling of the drums and the melody of the song kicking in, Bryan takes Stu’s two hands and begins spinning around in circles with a massive grin.

While the two friends are dancing to the iconic song, “Sing Sing Sing” by Benny Goodman, the rest of the teammates settle themselves around an unoccupied wooden table.

Joe gazes at his two teammates dancing in the middle of a crowd that has formed around them. “Oh, they are such great dancers!” He claps to the tune with a big grin.

Stu spins Bryan outward to be next to him, letting him bob to the music. He then pulls his small friend back in, spinning around in a circle, holding onto each other’s wrists while swaying side to side to the music.

“They should do the square dance next!” Joe continues exclaiming. “I can monitor it!”

“Spare me, anyone,” Joseph mutters with an unamused expression on his dancing teammates. “Please.” He then buries his face in his hands.

Then with the last roll of the drums and a roar from the trumpets the music comes to a halting end. The crowd erupts in cheers, applauding the two dancers.

Bryan bows more than necessary with a massive grin plastered on his face. Stu smiles at the crowd with much embarrassment.

The two friends then make their way out of the dance floor and to the table with their teammates.

“Wasn't that a whole lot of fun, Pickle Stew?” Bryan asks his friend.

Stu peers down at him with a smile. “Actually...it was!”

“Sweet!” Bryan slams his both hands flat on the table’s top. “Now, would you excuse me, nature calls!” He then begins drifting backward with an index finger in the air. “Wait for me when the next number comes on!” He then spins around, zips up the stairs, and disappears into the nearest door.

Matt turns to the tallest skater with a sweet smile. “You're such a great dancer, Stu!”

“Ha ha, thanks, Matty Hack.” Stu chuckles as he sits next to Brandon on the edge of the bench.

"Maybe you and Bryan can go out for swing dancing in your guys' spare time, eh?” Ryan points out a smirk.

“If he doesn't stop chattering,” Joseph huffs out, his hands on the table.

Stu shrugs. “Maybe.”

“You should dance again when Mooresy comes back!” Joe tells him excitedly. “That was such a thrilling swing dance!”

“Alright, Joe,” Stu tells him, a bit bothered.

Joe replies with a big smile on his cheery face.

Then their conversation is taken over by the smooth, jazzy tune of “In The Mood” by Glenn Miller with the melodic saxophones, droning brass trumpets, plucking bass, and soft cymbals and drums.

Matt then turns to Brandon, immediately noticing his worried expression. “Are you alright, Monty?” he asks him softly with concern. “You hadn't said much.”

Brandon takes in a deep breath. “I'm just trying to figure all of this out. How to get out of here.”

Joseph then puts a firm hand on his shoulder. “We'll get out. I'll help you."

Brandon turns to him with surprise. “Really?”

Joseph tilts his head in response.

“Thanks.” A smile appears on his face.

“We'll help you out too,” Ryan pipes in.

“Definitely!” Matt adds in happily.

“And I will as well,” Stu tells him. “I don't know about Bryan though.” He makes a worried expression.

“Same here!” Joe jumps in excitedly. He then pauses as bewilderment comes across his face. “What am I helping you out with, exactly?”

“How to get out of this time warp.” Brandon waves his arms in front of him in a majestic manner.

Joe’s eyes light up, regaining his usual jubilance. “Ah, yes! I'll help you get out of this time warp as well!”

Brandon faces his teammates with a closed smile. “Thanks, guys. It's really nice to have friends that help out each other.”

Joseph wraps his arm around him with a smug smirk. “Of course.”

“That's what friends are for!” Matt exclaims with his hands extended out on the table.

“Because we're a team and to work like one, we gotta help out one another!” Joe points out, hooking his arm across his chest.

“That's right!” Ryan pipes in.

“Hey, guys…,” Stu is heard saying anxiously.

The others turn to him.

Stu is gazing around his surroundings in trepidation. “Had you guys seen Mooresy yet?” He faces his teammates.

“No, he went to the bathroom,” Ryan replies.

“Yeah, I know, but he should've come back by now…” Stu scratches the back of his neck.

“Do you wanna go check on him?” Matt asks.

Stu begins jittering by shaking his legs in nervousness. “Uh, I can wait."

“I can go check on him if you'd like, Stu,” Brandon tells him with concerned eyes on him and interlaced hands on the table’s top.

Stu turns to him. “You sure?”

“Yeah!” Brandon straightens up. “And you can stay here to not miss him if he IS down here.”

Stu lets out a relieved huff. “That'd be great!”

“I'll come too!” Joe exclaims, raising his hand in the air.

Brandon pushes himself to his feet. “I think I can do it--”

Joe hops up from his bench. “We gotta stick together, right?”

“That's right.” Brandon climbs over the bench and ambles up to the captain. “Okay, let's go.”

He then begins strolling toward the staircase with Joe by his side, leaving the other teammates behind.
