One-Shot Stories

22-year-old Annabelle was ready for a fun evening at Nationwide Arena. She, along with her college roommate Sarah, had tickets to the Columbus Blue Jackets' fan forum a few days ahead of the 2017-18 NHL season and they were so excited to meet and mingle with their favorite players on the team. Sarah had her eye on the Swedes, William Karlsson and Alex Wennberg, while Annabelle had a few others in mind.

The girls arrived around 4:45, getting there just as their last class of the day was let out. While Sarah raced towards her two favorites, Annabelle was in the team store browsing for a new shirt and beanie to buy. She looked up to try one on when she saw a beautiful pair of brown eyes looking at her.

"Oh my god...you're Cam Atkinson!!" Annabelle freaked.

Cam chuckled, "Yeah, that's me. I see you're wearing my jersey. Nice. Want me to sign that for you?"

"Yes! Could you!? Oh my god," Annabelle panicked as she rummaged through her crossbody to find a Sharpie.

Cam smiled and reached into his back pocket, "I got it." He placed his left hand on her shoulder to hold her still as he signed inside the three of his number 13. "There you go. You know, I was going to take my boat out on the water later tonight since it's supposed to be so warm. Would you like to join me?"

"Really!? I mean, yes! My friend Sarah is with me. She's meeting Alex and Will," Annabelle said.

"Invite her too. The more, the merrier! I'm sure she'd love it," Cam replied.

Annabelle nodded, "Sounds great."

"Meet me at the escalator around 6:50. We'll all go together," Cam added before heading to meet fans.

Annabelle scoured the area trying to find her friend until she spotted her in front of a food cart that was giving out free Italian ices, "Girl, guess what!"

"What?" Sarah asked, her mouth full of cherry slush.

Annabelle grabbed her friend's free hand, "Cam freaking Atkinson just invited me to join him on his boat tonight. You can come too!"

"Wait...are you freaking serious!? What!?" Sarah gasped, feeling the ice melting from the cone and onto her hand.

"Yes! Cam said meet him at the concourse at 6:50 and we'll all go. He was probably going to let Alex and Will know," Annabelle stated, wiping her friend's hand.

Sarah looked at Annabelle, grabbing her phone, "But wait. We don't have swim suits."

"Oh yeah...you're right girl. Well, I have my CBJ tank top on underneath my jersey and we're both wearing shorts. We should be fine," Annabelle suggested.

Sarah nodded in agreement, "This is going to be insane. I can't believe we are going on a boat with the freaking Columbus Blue Jackets!"

Oh, and fun, would DEFINTIELY ensue!
