AAOOOSC! Junior Powers!

Deep Six

Lunchtime comes and the seven members of the GJHP are gathered in the main room, around the table, munching on Brett’s choice of lunch: pizza.

Boxes of pizza litter the middle of the table, varying in their contents from cheese pizza to pepperoni pizza to meat lover’s pizza to just air and grease due to being finished off.

Brett swallows a bite of cheese and pepperoni pizza before facing the table. "Why is kale green?"

Across from him, Kale narrows his eyes as a threat.

"Because he's always jealous!" Brett shouts. He then lets out a series of laughter.

Next to him, Jake cocks his head at Kale with bewilderment. "He doesn’t look green to me…"

"You need better jokes." Kale tears a piece of a meat lover’s pizza slice.

Jake then peers to his right, spotting Zeke trotting by the table. "Come on, Zeke!" He pats on an empty seat that is next to him due to the expansion of the society. "Up here, boy!"

Zeke halts in his tracks and turns to him. He warily scurries to the chair, then halts a foot away from it. He pulls back and launches himself at the seat, clutching onto its edge.

Due to his weight and force applied to the chair as he struggles to climb onto it, the chair begins to swing back and forth before falling backward with him with a slam!

Jake jolts at the sound and the sight. "Oh!" He leans over to come to his pet’s aid.

Kale eyes the scene with an unamused expression. "I have an idea of where its stupidity came from."

Jake straightens himself up, this time with his massive, fluffy pet in his arms. He plops him on the table and hands him a slice of cheese pizza to nibble on.

Across from him, Kailer eyes the animal observantly. "What is the fellow’s name again?"

Jake perks up at the scientist with excited eyes. "Zeke!" He takes a massive bite of his slice of cheese pizza.

Zeke halts his eating and peers at his owner with a whimper.

With his free hand, the goalie waves his hand at his pet. "No, no, continue eating."

Zeke lets out a whine before turning to his lunch.

Kailer knits his eyebrows at the animal. "Zeke?" He lifts his eyes up at the tallest member. "You named the animal ‘Zeke’? Out of all names, you named it ‘Zeke’?"

"Yes, I did." Jake pets his head with his free hand. "And he’s a 'he.'"

"You do know 'Zeke' is short for 'Ezekiel,' right?" the small teenager points out.

Jake looks at his pet with a dazzled expression. "Ooo, look at you, Zeke! You have a fancy-pansy name!"

"Why don’t name it 'Tanuki'?" Kailer suggests, pointing to him.

Jake gives him a bewildered expression. "'Sushi’?"

He shakes his head. "No, no, 'Tanuki'— It’s the actual title for the raccoon dog. It seems more fitting."

Jake peers back down at his pet, which is too busy munching on his pizza crust. "Do you like the name 'Tanuki'?" He then turns back to the scientist. "Sorry, but the council of Zeke disagrees."

Kailer groans and turns away from him. "I’m lunching with a raccoon dog for crying out loud—"

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Kailer immediately straightens himself up with wide eyes. "No, not again!" He disappears in a flash of blue energy, reappearing in the control booth. "Another disaster has fallen upon another rink!" he bellows before typing on the control panel, bringing up the holographic screen.

Matteo gets up from his seat and strides over to him. "Which one?"

Kailer presses a final button with his eyes lifted at the screen. "Yours."

Matteo turns to the screen, recognizing the map it is displaying. "What?" he spits out with massive eyes. He then whirls to his group, who is eyeing him with pizza in their hands. " Come on, boys, let’s go before this Rink Destroyer gets away!"

The air is colder in Baie-Comeau, Québec, with crystal clear skies as a humble, rectangular, dark grey and brick arena sits in the middle of a sloping parking lot lined with grass. This is the Centre Henry-Leonard.

The arena has the words LE DRAKKAR with the team’s logo drilled above the entrance of the arena, displaying toward the walkway situated above the garage.

Yet the building is not in a great situation: From all windows and doors, water is gushing out, running down the walkway and around the bend to the garage. It is cascading downward like waterfalls from each window to the parking lot, bubbling from the top and lining the roof as it glides down.

The same four members of the GJHP are standing on the sidewalk by the entrance of the parking, staring at the flooding arena from a safe distance.

"Ooo!" Jake’s eyes light up. "That looks like fun to swim in!"

Next to him, Brett is grimacing. "Dang…"

Down the line, Jeremy turns to the Master. "Can you sail those waters, Maîtriser?"

Beside him, Matteo scratches the back of his neck with uncertainty. "Ummm…" He then stares hard at the rushing waters, attempting to mentally gain control of their rough, unpredictable movements. Yet he feels another force over the water, blocking him from grasping onto them.

"Ugh." Matteo holds a scowl at the gushing waters. "There-there seems to be another force in the water that’s resisting my manipulation."

As a push of strength, he shoots his hands out at the water, physically guiding his ability to obtain dominance over the water. To his dismay, he senses his mental grip slipping on the force, making him unable to control the waters.

"Maybe because it’s not the ocean," Brett points out with uncertainty.

Matteo drops his hands with a groan. "No, I can control any water, it’s just that oceans are my primary type of waters to control." He turns to him. "But this water’s not cooperating."

"Maybe the Rink Destroyer’s here!" Jeremy pipes in with a string of hope. "Because you have to be near something to control it, right?"

"Yeah, that’s how manipulation usually works." The Master tilts his head from side to side.

Jake throws his index finger in the air. "I’ll sense if the Rink Destroyer’s here!" He straightens up as he gazes around with sharp eyes while sniffling. "Hmmm, no…" He faces the others. "No one’s here."

"But that’s impossible!" Brett cries out to him. "He’s gotta be nearby to be doing this!"

"Unless these are like cursed waters." Matteo has shifty eyes.

Jeremy crosses his arms with a dark expression at the deluging building. "I do NOT like whom we’re dealing with."

Jake taps into his enhanced sense once again. "Yeah, no one’s here."

Brett turns to the Master. "So what do we do? Just let the water continue running until it floods the whole city?"

"Let me see if I can freeze it." Matteo whirls to his swamping home arena and holds his hand out to it.

Suddenly, a chilly, prickly breeze sweeps by them, covering mainly the whole scenery in white frost.

The three sidekicks hug each other and shiver while clattering their teeth as frost builds up on them. Yet even with the wintery atmosphere, the waters continue flowing out of the building, untouched.

"Y-y-yeah, that w-w-water isss de-e-efin-nitely-y-y cu-u-ursed!" Jeremy manages to force out through his quivering teeth.

Matteo finally releases his control, returning the atmosphere back to its normal crisp temperature. "Yeah, this is not your ordinary water." He then activates his Wrist-Moto and gives the arena a quick scan.

Afterward, he drops his wrist and turns back to the others. "Let’s go back."
