Moving up to the NHL

That morning...

That next morning, Tristan and I are woken up by the sound of sizzling bacon and pans being thrown around in the cupboards. Sid is making what smells and sounds like a pretty good breakfast. Sid notices that we are up and he just smiles with a devilish smirk. Nothing happened last night, if that's what he is implying. I can tell that Sid is going to be messing with us in the very near future. Tristan is still half asleep, so I doubt that he saw Sid's smirk. The Pens are a very funny group of guys.
"Morning you two," says Sid as he brings us some food. He really is a good captain and an even better friend.
"Morning," I say as I rub my eyes.
"Jars is one of the guys on this team that loves to sleep. If he falls back asleep, feel free to whack him," says Sid with a smile as he hands me a plate with bacon, ham, sausage, hashbrown and pancakes on it.
"I heard that," says Tristan as he cracks open an eye at Sid.
"This look delicious. Do you like cooking?" I say as I sit up on the couch and try the pancakes.
"Well, I have always been cooking, so I guess I just got a taste for it," says Sid as he sets Tristans plate on the floor. "Would you like something to drink?"
"I'll get it so you can eat," says Tristan. I can tell he is very tired, but Sid did say he loves to sleep.
"No, I'm up," says Sid as he looks at me.
"I guess I'll have water," I say. This is awkward for some reason.

***

Breakfast went well. Sid is an amazing cook. The guys told me a few stories from their childhood. These guys are really interesting. I never knew that Sid liked to shoot pucks at a dryer when he was a kid. Sounds like he was really dedicated to hockey back then. Tristan, he told me about the time before he played for the Edmonton Oil Kings. The guys were involved with school, keeping their grades up and making friends is very important. I have always been dedicated to making friends, maybe because it was never easy for me.
"Is it okay if some of the guys come over later?" asks Sid looking at me.
"Hey, it's your house. If you want them to come over, then so be it," I say as my mom texts me.
"Everything okay?" asks Sid as he gets up and puts our dishes in the sink.
"Yes, my mom just wants me home. I have to work later anyways."
"I'll take you home," says Tristan as we get up to leave.
"Come right back Jars," chuckles Sid. He likes to have his fun.
"No promises," jokes Tristan as we leave before Sid can reply. the car ride home seemed very short. I wish I could spend more time with Tristan, but I have to get to work.
"well, too bad this has to end," says Tristan as we get to my house.
"Yeah, we need to hang out soon," I say as I check the time. "Well, I have a few more minutes before I have to go inside. Anyways, your teammates are really funny."
"They are a piece of work," says Tristan sarcastically.
"Yeah, well, I better go get ready for work," I say as I open the door. Tristan looks like he has something on his mind. "You okay?"
"What? Oh, yeah, i'm fine. Just a little tired from Sid waking us up."
I hesitate for a moment before I lean over a kiss him. He seems surprised that I did that, but he returns it. Wanna know the worst part? My dad saw the whole thing...
