Moving up to the NHL

This is a dream come true. I can't believe this is happening. I must be dreaming. I can't believe I'm going out with Tristan Jarry. I hope I can be his girlfriend. I'm in love with this guy. I hope he likes me enough to be more than just my friend. I would rather have him ask me to be his girlfriend rather than me ask him if he will be my boyfriend because I don't want to sound too desperate. That's the problem with society. If a girl asks a guy out, they are viewed as desperate and it is really annoying. Tristan snapped me out of my gaze when we arrived at Applebees.
"You alright?" he asks as we get out of the car. "Nervous?"
"Yeah, just a little. This is all new to me. My parents never really let me out with guys when we lived in Toronto."
"It's okay. Just be you," he says as we walk into the restaurant. The hostess seats us at a nice booth near the back of the restaurant. We sit across from each other for a few minutes in silence. This is awkward, but I do want to break the silence.
"So, you from around here?" asks Tristan breaking the awkward silence. Thank god that I don't have to break it.
"No, I'm from Toronto. I just moved here a few weeks ago because my dad got a new job."
"Do you like it here?"
"So far. Pittsburgh seems like a really nice place to live. I met you and I get along so well with my coworkers. They are already my best friends. Although, I do miss my friends from home every now and then."
"I'm sure you'll be able to visit them. I'll be going up to Surry for bye-week. You can come too and we can stop in Toronto."
""That'd be fun!" I say as our waiter approaches our table. We place our orders. I love the steak at Applebees. Especailly if it is nice n juicy. Although, my dad makes really good steak on the grill too in the summer.
"So, how's the job?" asks Tristan trying to break the silence again. If we are silent for too long, it will become very weird.
"Really good so far. Today was only my second day, but I like it."
"Good, glad you like your job and your coworkers."
"How are you adjusting to the NHL? Is it any different than the AHL?"
"Oh yeah. It's very different. In the minors, each team would have their own set of good players, but in the NHL, there are players like Giroux and Ovechkin that can absolutely shake n bake a goaltender. Now, this is professional. I love Pittsburgh more than Wilkes/Barre. Crosby has always been one of my good friends."
"you played really well against the Flyers. I was at that game."
"You were there?"
"Yeah, I was actually sitting behind your net. The one you were defending twice."
"I can't believe I didn't see you," he says as the waiter brings our food.
"This looks good," I say as Tristan's phone buzzed.
"That's just Sid. He's just checking in to see how everything is going."
"He seems like he really cares about his teammates."
"He really does. He is the captain, but he's also a really good friend."

We finish our food and head back to Dunkin Donuts so that I can pick up my car.
"Well, that was fun," I say as we are on our way to Dunkin Donuts.
"That was fun."
"Yeah, so what time is your practice?"
"Seven. Want me to pick you up?"
"Sure, You can pick me up from my house. I have a few little things to do for my parents first."
"Can I pick you up in two hours? I'm supposed to meet up with Sid shortly after I drop you off at Dunkin Donuts."
"Yeah, I'll be ready by then. The things I have to do for my parents won't take two hours."
"Okay, I will see you in two hours," he says with a smile as we pull into the Dunkin Donuts parking lot. Without thinking, I just give him a hug. Suprisingly, he hugged me back. I really enjoyed spending time with him today.
"I have a question. I enjoyed spending time with you today," he says as he pulls away. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
