Questions + Answers

What is the origin of the supernatural?
The supernatural universe has existed for as long as the universe we all know of. The only problem was that is was yet to be discovered, just like any other scientific discovery, such as the deep ocean or outer space or cellular life.

The supernatural itself lies within in element called exmium. It is a clear crystal that displays multiple array of colours. The element is then built in within the trophy of each league, thus making it the holder or powerhouse of the league’s powers.

How does supernatural abilities work within humans?
Through electrical means, the powers within exmium are made alive and transported into a human to conceive supernatural abilities. This can happen with or without contact between the trophy and power player; it depends on each league and their trophy. The stone has infinite varieties of supernatural powers, giving the founders the free option to place a team with powers according to that team’s nickname, colour, and/or mascot. The raw form of supernatural powers is made of pure energy, like the rays of light. This supernatural energy resides in the chest of each user, near the heart, the core of the human.

Like a muscle, it is able to be summoned, obeying to any mental thought toward it. It is like if you want to hold your hand up: The thought comes to mind subconsciously through an emotion and in a split second, your hand is lifted into the air. With powers though, the usage of them is usually commanded through conscious thoughts. The only time powers can be used subconsciously is when emotions cloud the mind, commanding the powers without the user’s conscious consent; it is like a reaction.

Once the user wants to use his/her powers and the thought is in mind, the surge is then directed from its concentrated part in the chest out to wherever the user wants them the most: hands to emit, feet to fly, entire body to teleport or create omnidirectional waves. The feeling of the powers moving to the user’s desired place is similar to an adrenaline surge and the affected body part becomes warm.

Are supernatural energy strikes actually dangerous?
It depends on the type of supernatural energy. There are two types: ordinary energy and super form energy.

Whenever an ordinary supernatural energy hits another person, it is not fatal--it is just painful. This is because it only strikes externally. The energy has a strong force within itself in order to propel straight at the target, bringing its force against the target along with its own painful properties. The energy itself is hot, like a lasar, yet not as fierce as fire. With skin contact, it creates a split-second of a searing sensation. And with its force, the target is for sure to tumble to the ground if he/she does not have any enhanced durability or protection. The searing pain then fades away into a fizzy sensation, like when your foot is finally waking up after falling asleep. After the sensation is gone, the target is able to get up and fight again. This is an external strike.

The super form energy is an internal strike, which is far more dangerous. This is when the energy traps itself inside the target rather than make external contact with the target and then dissolving on contact. The energy will then build itself up in strength and intensity in order to get out, placing the target in immense, throbbing, sharp agony. Without any supernatural medical attention, the target will either suffer huge damage from the escape of the energy or not survive, depending on his/her supernatural abilities. Fortunately, no team powers contain this type of energy. Only those who achieve super form can have this type of energy.

Can supernatural powers be difficult to control?
Supernatural powers are overall not supposed to be difficult to control. The only normal time powers can be hard to control is when a power player gains a new team power due to a trade, it is normal for them to have a hard time controlling them with learning the new flow and techniques of the powers. Over time and practice, they should be able to get their powers in check.

Powers should be as easy to control like your hand. If supernatural powers are hard to control, that is because the power player has too much power in him or herself, causing them to slip the power they cannot contain out of their control.

Why do professional sports teams utilize the supernatural?
Professional sports teams use supernatural means to protect their teams, players, and other leagues from any sort of threat. Since the supernatural is real and can be discovered and utilized by anyone with a good or bad intention, the leagues must be prepared to battle against these forces and defeat them. This is where the power players come into play.

If supernatural threats overcome the leagues and the leagues do not have supernatural fighters, the league can become under a tyrannical rule or dissolve. Therefore, the supernatural power player system is extremely important.

How are team powers determined?
The type of team powers are determined by one of these three factors:
  1. Based on team nickname: Boston Bruins, Brampton Thunder, San Diego Gulls, Everett Silvertips
    1. This is the main factor.
2. Based on team colors: Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Beauts, Spokane Chiefs
3. Based on team mascot/logo: Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Riveters

Who can become a power player of a team?
The founders of each league are in charge of who is able to possess their team powers. Any position of the team can possess their powers whether they are a forward, defenceman, or goalie. Usually, players in a long contract or superstars are the possessors of the team powers due to their locked spot in that team. Fourth-liners and yo-yos can also possess team powers, but it is highly discouraged for the founders to chose those players due to their instability in that team.

When are power players bestowed with powers?
Power players gain powers in one of these two events:
  1. From birth. Founders have the ability to bestow powers to their chosen power players once they are born. These power players will learn to cope and use their powers at a young age, although being clueless of the powers’ purpose. Once they reach of age to enter their powers’ team or have already entered their powers’ team, it will be disclosed to them their powers and their choices.
  2. From career: If there is an imbalance of the power players-teams ratio and there is no power player arriving soon to balance it out, the founder can appoint a responsible player currently playing for that team to possess the team powers.

How do power players discover the purpose behind their powers?
There are many ways a power player can discover the purpose behind their powers:
-through other power players
-through a call from the founder him/herself
This discovery can be made as early as rookie season to as late as the middle of the player’s career in that league.

How are team powers controlled?
Team powers are controlled and determined by the founder of each league. The founder controls the powers and bestows them/removes them through the league’s trophy. Therefore, the league’s trophy contains all of the powers of that league. The trophy must be connected to a machine that will transfer the powers to the desired hockey player. Not using the trophy correctly to bestow or remove powers can bring drastic damage.

Can a power player have the wrong team powers?
It is against the supernatural rules of the professional sports universe for a power player to be a part of a team and possess another team’s powers. The only exception is if that power player will be shortly traded to their team power’s team, thus balancing out the ratio of power players and teams.

Can there be two power players in one team possessing their team powers?
It is against the supernatural rules of the professional sports universe for two power player to be a part of one team, possessing the same powers. This throws off the team-power player ratio and gives an unfair advantage toward other teams with just one power player. Only one power player for one team. The only exception is if that the older power player will retire shortly.

Are the team powers changed when a team’s colours, nickname, logo, or city is changed?
Yes, the team powers of that altered team must associate with the team’s colours, nickname, and/or logo. It is determined by the founder what those new team powers are. It is encouraged for the powers to be altered as least as possible, but must be correlated with the new face of the team. Examples include Boston Pride’s logo and Markham Thunder’s colour scheme.

Team powers do not need to be changed if a team’s city is changed or the team’s location is changed and that is all. Example includes New York Riveters to Metropolitan Riveters.

Team powers must be changed if the team’s colour, nickname, or logo is changed if that is accompanied by the team’s city’s name or relocation. Example includes St. John’s IceCaps to Laval Rockets.

When can team powers be redefined?
Team powers can be redefined when the power player of that team is about to retire or be traded to a different team. With that, the new power player of that team can hold the redefined team powers.

Can team powers be changed even though the team did not change their colours, nickname, logo, or city?
Founders are able to change team powers even though the team itself did not undergo any change. The only two restrictions are that they have to be changed between the transferral of power players and they must be associated with the team’s nickname, location, or colour scheme. Example includes Philadelphia Flyers’ team powers between Claude Giroux and Nolan Patrick.

Can power players lose powers?
Power players do have the danger of losing their powers. Here are some of the ways:
  1. Extraction: This is when a founder has to remove the powers of a power player for legal purposes, such as a trade or dropping out of the league.
  2. Erasure: Scientists of the supernatural world have been able to come up with formulas to erase power players’ powers. The means determines on the scientists’ styles, so it is unpredictable how one can be a victim.
  3. Super form energies: Super form is an extremely potent state that arouses extremely potent energies. Some of these energies are strong enough to rip away the enhanced or basic powers of a power player.

Can power players lose their powers permanently?
It is rare for power players to lose the ability to hold supernatural abilities. Permanent lossage of powers can only result if a power players’ powers were removed incorrectly, thus weakening the power player to a state where they cannot hold any power. A way powers can be removed incorrectly is by the misuse of the league’s trophy or hazardous erasure.
Power players who do not lose their powers the correct, safe way will be able to regain powers of any team of any league if the founder(s) permit(s).

Can founders remove powers from a power player then give them back to the same power player?
Founders cannot remove powers from a power player and then put it back into the same power player. The system is structured to make sure a power player with removed powers from a founder can never have its powers due to automatic misuse of powers. The power player must lose their powers not by the founders’ aid in order to regain it back.

Do power players switch team powers when traded?
Yes, they do. This includes being promoted or demoted into a different league. The fate of their powers though are determined by their new team’s status.
There are two scenarios for traded power players
  1. Traded to a team with no current power player: If a power player is traded to a team with no power player, the founder simply switches their powers from the previous team powers to the new team powers.
  2. Traded to a team with a current power player: If a power player is traded to a team with a power player, the founder must extract the powers from the traded power players to confine with the supernatural rules of the professional sports universe and maintain the team-power player ratio.

Can a power player or non-power player have other powers other than powers bestowed by their league’s founder?
It is possible for a power player or non-power player to gain powers not bestowed by the founder and/or not team powers, yet no one not destined for powers can gain powers on their own. The bestowal of non-affiliated powers is usually through the means of a scientific experiment conducted by a scientist or a group of scientists. Although possible, it is against the Supernatural Universe to do so since it can throw off the system.

How are users of companion allegiance determined? How are their powers determined?
The bestowal of companion allegiance upon two power players are determined by their close, seemingly unbreakable friendship. Close friendships are extremely necessary for companion allegiance to work efficiently due to the physical and supernatural merging of two users.
The powers the users can achieve through companion allegiance must be enhanced powers, or powers that no other power player achieves. This is what makes the ability so special. The type of enhanced power is determined by the founder(s) of the leagues the users belong to.

Do all leagues have a League Ruler?
Yes, all leagues do have league rulers, but not all of them have their own league ruler. Only leagues with numerous teams can have their own ruler due to their large group of power players, which widens the opportunity of a bigger threat and less control over power players. Examples are the NHL (31 teams) and CHL (60 teams). Leagues who share one league ruler is AHL & ECHL, CWHL & NWHL (12 teams combined), and NCAA.

How are League Rulers determined? How are their powers determined?
League rulers are determined by the responsibility and maturity a hockey player exhibits. Those traits are extremely necessary for the amount of power any league ruler will posses.
Their powers are determined by the level of hockey they play. NHL is the highest level of hockey one can play, therefore the league ruler of the NHL will have the most powerful power anyone can posses: nigh-omnipotence. Each league ruler must have more powerful powers than the other power players of their league, or any league in order to fulfill their duties efficiently. This includes either having the higher super form of their team powers (junior hockey) or completely different powers that are much more powerful (NHL and minor hockey).

Can non-power players join a supernatural society?
Supernatural societies are strictly for only power players to join. There is one exception: if a non-power player discovers the supernatural universe, then they have the choice to join the league’s society to help out their fellow leaguemates.

Do collegiate teams have two power players, one for men’s hockey and another for women’s hockey?
In the supernatural universe, it is against the rules to have two power players with the same team power. Since not all colleges have men’s and women’s hockey, there is only one power player with the team powers per college. The power player can either be a male or female for the colleges have have both men’s and women’s hockey. The decision is up to President Roosevelt, the founder of the NCAA.

Why is it so critical for the supernatural universe and its members to be esoteric?
The supernatural universe has been formed secretly within the natural universe. Due to its separateness, the real universe has no knowledge of the supernatural universe’s existence. Therefore, those apart of the supernatural universe must be careful not to disclose the supernatural universe’s existence. The reaction of the natural universe toward the supernatural universe has a massive possibility of rejection and intolerability due to society’s rules and structures. If this is indeed the reaction of the natural universe toward the supernatural universe, then the supernatural universe will be desecrate and terminated due to the political power of the natural universe and the justice of the supernatural universe. To be kept safe and work efficiently, the supernatural universe must be esoteric.

Can power players use their team powers to enhance their performance on the ice?
It is against the rules of the supernatural universe for a power player to use even the slightest amount of their powers to enhance their abilities or mar other players’ performance. The reason is to keep fairness in the game. There are at most two power players on the ice in a single game. It would be unfair for those two to use their powers against unsuspected teammates or opponents, who do not have supernatural abilities of their own to fend themselves, for their own selfish advantage. All players, power player or non-power player, must play on the same level of hockey with equal advantages and access to resources.
Power players are not even allowed to use their powers outside of the game. This is to keep the supernatural universe esoteric.

What are the societies of the supernatural world of hockey?

EHP (Evil Hockey Players’ Society): the major supernatural evil power players’ society. It is comprised of those in the NHL. Their goal is to take over the NHL for their own benefit.

GWHP (Good Women's Hockey Players’ Society): the major supernatural good women power players’ society. It is comprised of those in the NWHL, CWHL, and any independent professional women’s team. Their goal is to protect their leagues, teams, and their players from any supernatural threat.

GAHP: (Good American Hockey Players’ Society): the minor supernatural good power players’ society. It is comprised of those in the AHL and ECHL. Their goal is to protect the minor professional leagues, teams, and teammates.

EAHP: (Evil American Hockey Players’ Society): the minor supernatural evil power players’ society. It is comprised of those in the AHL and ECHL. Their goal is to take over the minor professional leagues.

GJHP: (Good Junior Hockey Players’ Society): the major junior and collegiate supernatural good power players’ society. It is comprised of those in the CHL and NCAA. Their goal is to protect their leagues and their players from any supernatural threat.
