Leaving For A New Beginning

You Look Familiar

A DAY LATER

Mika was rushing around in a fury. With no clue where to go after entering the Barclays Center. She happened to get the simple directions of where the suites were. She walked down what seemed like endless hallways when she saw two women, one wearing a Barzal jersey, the other wearing no jersey, walking to their own suite.

"Wait!" She called to them, desperate to get information on where she was supposed to go. The two women stopped and turned around to face her, the one wearing no jersey was at least 10 years older than the other one wearing the Barzal jersey. "Excuse me, do you know where this suite is?"

"Isn't that the away team's WAG suite?" The older woman asked the one in the Barzal jersey, getting a nod of approval. "That suite is actually under maintenance. I believe you're the only WAG who showed, you could join the Islanders WAGs suite if you want. What's your name darling?"

"Mika." She shrugged, not minding the awkwardness that may follow, as long as she got to see Dylan play. She followed the two women listening to their random conversation. The Barzal girl kept looking back at her, which kinda creeped Mika out.

"You know, I wouldn't mind if you move in with us. But both Dennis and I are afraid the kids will... well you know. You two are both young and very... active I guess." Mika held back a laugh, knowing what the older woman was referring to.

"Rebecca, c'mon now! Don't do this to me!" The girl wearing the Barzal jersey blushed furiously, though she laughed.

They reached the suite door and the younger one waved her keycard in front of the scanner, which unlocked the door. The one named Rebecca introduced Mika to the others and the Barzal one sat near a blonde farther away, watching the game.

"Hey, who scored the Islanders goal when Rebecca and I were gone?" The girl in the Barzal jersey called up to the others.

"Your man!" All of them responded in sync to her, one commenting. "Mat better be putting a ring on it soon, we've seen how much you two loooooovvveeeee each other." Another girl added, "Yeah maybe a bit too much, especially in public." And one last comment, from the blonde sitting next to her, "I think we all know why you wear his jersey." She said with a wink, every loyal hockey fan knows how players go crazy when their girls sport their jerseys, as it isn't too common.

"Imagine it! Kassiani Addison Barzal! It's beautiful." One of the WAGS who sat close to her, smiled. Mika on the other hand, looked confused, did she hear Kassiani? Or did she hear Kassidy or some other variation? Everyone seemed to call her Kass though.

"Grace, do you seriously think Mat will propose at 21, I think not." Kass sighed, leaning back farther into her chair.

"Knowing Mathew for the one year I've known him, anything can happen." Grace nudged her. Mika studied Kass's facial features, she did look like Kassi... It had to be her,

After an hour or so, where there's a little over 5 minutes left in the game, with the Islanders leading 3-0 Mika walked down to where Kass was all alone after the others were enjoying a couple drinks.

"Kassiani Carmello. I should've known."

"What do you mean by that Mika?" Kassi looked at her innocently, her brown eyes shimmering.

"You could've told me." Mika felt bad after bragging about dating an NHLer, Kassi didn't seem to go around bragging.

"Why, like you would've even known who he was. Plus, no hard feelings but I just met you and didn't want to give you my entire life story."

"C'mon now, how long have you two been together, Kassi?"

"Going on six years. His sister introduced us. How about you and Dylan?"

"Wow, definitely longer than Dylan and I. We've only been together two weeks." Mika laughed, Kassi smiling, keeping in laughter.

"Well, the game's over. I better go see Mat, he doesn't even know I'm here. Wanna come along, maybe see Dylan?" Kassi winked and led Mika out of the suite, the two walking through crowds, and then a ton of hallways, before ending up at the doors of the away and home locker rooms. Mika walked into the Red Wings, and Kassi into the Islanders.

---

The door which led into the Islanders locker room shut, no one noticing due to all the commotion.

It didn't take Kassi long before she found a shirtless Mat, and crept to him, kissing his cheek, her right hand on his lower chest.

"Babe, I thought you couldn't make it!" Mat said in shock that his girlfriend made it to his game.

"I might have lied, just to surprise you." She smiled, Mat cupping her cheek, kissing her hungrily.

"Kassi! I bet Mat wants you to move your hand a few centimeters south!" Anders Lee called out, causing the whole locker room to burst out in laughter; though the two lovers remained kissing.

"Okay, c'mon now, you two are always too intimate around us, we get that she's yours Mat. " Captain John Tavares tried getting Kassi and Mat to stop making out in the locker room. Kassi pulled away from Mat, breathless.

"Well, I'm sorry. I haven't seen my girlfriend in a month." Mat tried to defend himself.

"Well why doesn't Dennis and Rebecca let you and Kassi both live at their place?"

"That's why!" Dennis shouted over everyone, "Cause all young'ns are always so touchy, my kids don't need to get any ideas,"

"Why don't you just leave Mat alone for once, he hasn't done anything too severe yet." Thomas Greiss stepped up, just as Mat had finished getting dressed and was heading out with Kassi, the two holding hands.

"Don't have too much fun now Mat, we need you conscious tomorrow!" Someone called out.

Mat's response to the comment was flipping off whoever said it as he and Kassi walked out of the locker room.

Notes
