Hockey Swingers Club

Chapter 10

Madison's killer was still on the loose and the entire town was on edge because everyone believed they lived in such a safe and tight knit community. Henrik and Therese, who have already returned to Sweden for the summer, were informed of Maddy's death and they sent their best wishes to Ryan in hopes that justice will be served soon.

Beverly and Sean, and Lori and James have been fighting constantly and their marriages were both strained due to all the stress. Aly was due to return to work at MLB Network in two days, and she was really hoping that being back with her colleagues for a couple weeks would do her some good.

While Chris was in the downstairs office doing a video chat with NBC Sports regarding the playoffs, Aly was in their bathroom upstairs. She peeked out the window and saw a distraught Lori in the driveway, so she opened up the window and stuck her head out, "Hey! You okay?"

Lori looked up and saw Aly, "Can you come here please?"

"Sure, I'll be right down!" Aly answered.

Aly ran downstairs and let Chris know she'd be right back. Upon stepping foot on Lori's driveway, Aly was met with a shocking claim from her friend. Lori looked her dead in the eyes, "Aly...I think James killed Maddy."

"What!? Why the heck would you think that!?" Aly gasped.

Lori showed Aly a yellow folder containing private and racy photos of Madison and texts between Maddy and an unknown number, "Look at this. Ryan showed me these. I think she was cheating on him and we asked the police to unblock this number."

"But why do you believe James did it? I know he has his moments, but Lori, he loves you," Aly said.

"When we first began the swingers meetings, James always wanted to be paired up with her and would go ballistic when someone else would get her for the experiments. I think he was obsessed with her. The final meeting that you and Chris didn't attend, they finally got paired up but she left crying after fifteen minutes. I think he was slightly obsessed with her and honestly, I think he wanted to leave me and find a way to get Maddy to leave Ryan so they could somehow be together," Lori explained.

Aly shook her head, "It can't be true, but Lori, his knuckles were all bruised and bloodied when the cops came to interview us. Do you really believe he went to the gym and used the punching bags?"

"I...I don't know. Our marriage has been so rocky lately, I don't know what to think. I don't want to assume, but my gut is telling me that my husband had something to do with Maddy's disappearance and possible death," Lori added.

Aly hugged her friend, "We will find out soon. You gave the police all this info and these photos. Hopefully it will help them and we will know who killed our friend, but please, be safe. Do not raise any suspicions."

The women pulled away as James parked in the driveway. He got out of the car and kissed his wife, handing her red roses, "Hey beautiful, hello Alyson. What are you girls up to?"

"Oh nothing, just discussing Maddy's upcoming funeral. It's so sad to know she's gone," Aly replied.

James nodded, "Sure is. We'll miss her."

"Yes. Honey, how are your hands? Do you need ice or anything?" Lori asked, trying not to alarm him.

"Yeah, a little. They swelled a bit today. I guess I really punched hard the other day, I hope I didn't break a bone. I'll be inside on the couch," James stated before leaving.

Lori turned back to Aly, "He's so lying."

"Just give him the ice, try to maybe put the ice pack in a ziplock bag, and then take it to the cops. They may be able to get DNA off it," Aly said.

"Okay, I'll try. I will call you if I need anything," Lori half smiled before going inside.

As the day went on, Aly kept thinking about Lori's assumptions. It was obvious James had his fair share of issues and problems, but would he really resort to murder in order to prove a point? She knew he was a bit rebellious and crazy, but never would think he would take it this far.
