AAOOOSC! All-Stars!

Cowabunga, Dude!

The white sun radiates in the bright blue skies.

“The sun is out…”

Tan, grainy sand stretches from the foot of the rocky cliffs to the shores of the lapping water.

“...the sand is warm…”

The deep blue waters roll up into waves and crash against the surface.

“...the waves are gnarly—”

Patrick Kane, in a wetsuit, yanks his red and white surfboard from the sand and holds it over his head. “—it’s the perfect time to shred some waves!” He grins down.

Next to him, laying under an umbrella on a beach towel is Joe Pavelski. He wears swim trunks and a tank-top. Although he is wearing sunglasses, he holds a flat expression.

Next to him is Kendall Coyne Schofield, who is wearing a one-piece swimsuit and beach shorts. In front of her is an elaborate sandcastle.

“Ooo, that sounds like fun!” She spins water from her hand and into the moat dug around her sandcastle. She then returns Patrick a grin of her own. “I’ll be watching you!”

Joe gives him a wave. “Alright, Kaner, have fun.”

“Latronic, dude and dudette!” Patrick then speeds down the sand.

Kendall watches him approach the shore before turning to Joe. “Have you ever seen him surf before?”

He sits up. “No. I didn’t even know he could surf.” He turns to her. “But I should’ve just by the way he talks.”

Her eyes light up as she spots Patrick wading into the waters. “Ooo, this is so exciting!” She criss-crosses her legs and stares ahead with glimmering eyes. “Let’s see him shred those waves!”

Joe turns to the waters. He watches Patrick laying on his surfboard and paddling farther away. A smirk then forms on his face. He perks his hand up from the towel and flicks his fingers.

A wave forms in front of Patrick and looms above him. The surfer increases his arm movements to reach the wave. The wave, however, lands on top of him, wiping him out of sight.

Joe leans backward and lets out a laugh.

Kendall gawks at the scene. “That’s a massive wave! My gosh, no mercy!”

Patrick emerges from the waters and climbs back onto his surfboard.

Joe raises his fingers once again.

Another wave builds up smoothly, allowing Patrick to paddle up to it and stand on his board to ride it. He begins to glide across the wave’s surface until the water reverses its motions, causing him to flip backward and plummet into the folding wave.

“Unlucky!” Joe bellows.

Kendall frowns at the roaring waters. “Poor Kaner, it seems like the waves are shredding him!”

Then, they spot another surfer streaking across the ocean. With his long platinum blond hair and beard wiping behind him, it is easy to recognize him.

“Isn’t that Patrik Laine?” Kendall points to the surfer.

Joe presses his lips. “Yup. Can’t miss him.”

Patrick then appears on the surface again, pulls himself back onto his surfboard, and resumes paddling deeper into the ocean.

With a growing smirk, Joe raises his fingers again from his side. A wave rises in front of Patrick and continues to swell. He focuses on the wave, watching it grow in amusement.

“Stupid dectector, not beeping,” a familiar voice to Joe quacks out to his right, “beep! Beep! BEEP!!!” Angry, sputtering quacks erupt.

With a disgusted look, Joe lowers his hand.

Kendall watches the wave drop in size and roll up to the surfer. Patrick climbs on his surfboard and glides on its surface.

Corey Perry, in a polo shirt and khaki pants, marches in front of their vision, holding a metal detector in front of his path.

Joe frowns at his enemy. “Torturing me on the ice isn’t satisfying enough for you, Perry?”

Corey whirls to him, his eyes deranged and sharp. “I’m here for gold! GOLD!!!” He glares at the metal detector. “But this stupid dectector isn’t WORKING—!” He shakes the metal detector as he explodes into fits of angry quacking.

Joe holds a hand out to him. “Hey, at least you got some metal with the Stanley Cup—”

“OVER A DECADE AGO!” his enemy spits back him.

He swipes his hand carelessly across himself. “Oh, go cry yourself a pond, we got none.”

“I heard Kings got three,” Kendall pipes in to them.

The two rivals turns to her with frowns and a glare.

She giggles. “Just felt compelled to, uh, slip that one in…”

Corey tears away from her and continues his trek, grumbling to himself.

Joe turns back to the waves, spotting Patrick sailing across the wave’s surface. Then, with a flick of his fingers by his side, the wave tumbles over Patrick, eating him up with mist.

Kendall gasps at the sight. She then whirls to Joe and throws a ball of water at his face.

“Ah!” He whips over to her, the water on his face disappearing. “Why’d you hit me?”

“Why’d you have to ruin Kaner’s surfing with manipulating the waves?” Kendall has her arms crossed with narrowed eyes.

Joe simply frowns at her.

“Yes, I’m smart, don’t let the looks fool you.” She tilts her head, staring into her reflection on his dark lens. “Stop controlling the surf. Let him have his fun.”

Joe lets out a huff. “Fine, I’ll join him then.” He stands up and ambles away from her, heading toward the shore.

Kendall leans over from her spot behind him. “With no surfboard?!”

“I don’t need one!” he shouts ahead of him.

“Alright, show-off.”

Joe chuckles before slicing a hand up at the ocean.

A wave stretches out from the body of water and slips underneath his bare feet. It then pulls him over the rippling surface of the ocean and places him next to Patrick, who is riding his own wave.

“Cowabunga, dude!!” Patrick hollers before zipping past him.

Joe aims his palm at the waters below them. The waters churn, propelling the two forward.

“Incoming!!!”

Kendall slips next to Joe with her own wave rushing under her.

“Glad you can join us!” Joe calls out to her over the roaring of the waves.

She shoots him a bright grin.

The three then ride the waves together across the blue ocean.
