His Teammate's Sister

Chapter 3

The next day, it was time for the first official on-ice workouts and a scrimmage game. While all the reporters and everyone was getting ready to head towards the rink, Aly stayed behind. She couldn't stop thinking about the kiss she and Chris shared, and worried even more if her brother found out. She and Jacob had a great brother-sister bond, but after what happened in her past, he always vowed to protect her.

Jess, the team's social media manager, noticed Aly all by herself and seemed concerned, "Aly? Girl, you okay?"

Aly looked up from her computer, "Huh? Oh hey Jess. Yeah, I'm fine, just tired."

Jess sat in the seat next to Aly and gently touched her friend and co-worker's hand, "Something's bugging you. Did something happen when I cancelled last night? Oh god, did some hurt you?"

"What? No no, nothing like that. Jess, really, I'm fine," Aly said.

"Girl, we've been friends for nine months, practically sisters. You can tell me anything. What is going on?" Jess worried.

Aly took a deep breath and looked at her friend, "If I tell you, promise you won't tell ANYONE, not even my brother."

"Of course sweetie," Jess assured.

Aly knew she could trust her, but she still worried, "Okay. When you cancelled, Chris invited me over to get to know each other and he said he knew a realtor who could get me a good deal on an apartment. We were drinking wine, and well, we kissed."

Jess' eyes went wide as could be, "You kissed Chris Kreider!?"

"Shh, lower your voice!! My brother has no idea we did that!" Aly motioned.

Jess' mouth was still on the floor, "You lucky little duck! Wait, why can't we tell Jacob?"

"He's been so protective of me since I was 15, and has to approve every guy I date. He would absolutely flip out if he found out that we kissed," Aly answered.

"Well, your secret is safe with me," Jess added.

Following the scrimmage game and media interviews, it was time to part ways until tomorrow and the exact same thing would be happening. Aly was, yet again, one of the last ones in the locker room as she finished up an article that had to be posted later in the day.

Jess was standing in the doorway, "Girl, I'll call you later. We'll get lunch after the game tomorrow."

"Sounds good! See you later!" Aly smiled. As she turned back to her work, she noticed Chris in front of her. She tried so hard not to blush in front of her.

Chris sat next to her and smiled even bigger, "And how are we after last night?"

"Pretty good. Last night was really nice," Aly blushed.

"Good. Gosh, you look so beautiful today. What are you doing tonight?" Chris asked.

Aly shrugged, "Nothing. Jacob and Kelly have their wedding cake tastings tonight before her PHD exam, so I was going to relax in the apartment."

"Come to my place. I went to Whole Foods and did some shopping, and I can make you an amazing dinner. Please," Chris offered.

Aly really wanted to say no plus she was running out of excuses to tell her brother, but really enjoyed Chris' company, "Okay, sure."

"Perfect. Let's go," Chris whispered against the nape of her neck, sending chills down her spine.

Was Aly really falling for her brother's new teammate, and what would Jacob think!?
