Falling Fast and Breathing Hard

It's A Beautiful Day

Today, my boys are playing Washington early. Early, as in twelve thirty in the afternoon. Those are definitely not my favorite kind of games. It interfered with the nap I took every weekend. Since he was in D.C., I relaxed on the couch watching the game by myself since Mary wasn't feeling well. I was kinda happy about watching the game by myself; I was really tired. The game was brutal as my boys lost 3-0 and I saw Kris slam the puck into the net at the end. As I was waddling in the kitchen scrounging for food minutes later, my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey, baby."

"Hey. How ya feeling?"

"Pissed off, but I'm a little better talking to you."

"That's good."

"So, how are you?"

"Really good. Just tired and looking for food."

"That's an interesting combo." he said, laughing.

"Shut up. I can't help it. Kalea's hungry."

"She's hungry a lot. Huh?"

"Yeah. More than me. Imagine that." I said, laughing.

He laughed more.

"Anyway, do you want me to let you go, so you can eat?"

"You mind?"

"Of course not. I love you and I love Kalea."

"I love you and so does Kalea."

"Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and continued on with my search for noms. I eventually settled on a cheese and lettuce sandwich with yellow mustard aka one of the best sandwiches ever. After eating, I headed to our room to sleep. I woke up a couple hours later to my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I asked groggily.

"Athena? Did I wake you?"

It was Vero.

"Yeah, but I was about to get up anyway. What's up?"

"Mind if I come over? I was thinking about bringing dinner."

"Of course not. Come right over. What are ya bringing?"

"It's a surprise."

"Of course it is. Ok, I'll see ya soon."

"See ya."

I rubbed my eyes and slowly got up. I decided to walk into Kalea's room to see what there was left to do. Kris had painted the room, a beautiful shade of pink. We have letters above her precious white crib, spelling out her name. There is a walnut rocking chair in the far right corner just waiting for me to sit in and rock Kalea to sleep and a changing table directly across from her crib. The room is absolutely perfect, all that was missing was some clothes, diapers and other baby things. I then heard Susan walk in.

"It's beautiful." she said from behind me.

"It is, isn't it?"

"Kris did great work. Was most of this your idea?"

"Yeah, most of it. He picked some clothes and the sheets, but that's it."

We got so caught up in looking at the room that neither of us heard Vero at the door.

"Athena! Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm in Kalea's room. Come right in. The door's unlocked."

In less than a minute, I heard her walk into the room.

"Hi honey." she said, hugging me.

"Hi."

"Hi, Susan."

"Hi, Vero."

"How ya two doing?"

"Pretty good. You?" I answered for both of us.

"Good."

"So, what do you think of the room?"

"It's gorgeous. You two did a great job."

"Thanks. It was mostly Kris though."

"As in?"

"The painting, putting the furniture in here."

"Well, yeah, but a lot of this was your idea. You're her mother."

I nodded.

"Anyway, what did you bring to eat?"

"Shrimp linguine alfredo and garlic bread." she said with a smile.

"I love you."

"I love you, too."

A few minutes later, we were sitting in the living room and eating dinner, which was fantastic. A couple of hours had passed when I heard Kris at the door. Vero, Susan and I were watching the last ten minutes of Valentine's Day.

"Hey, baby." I said as he walked toward me.

"Hey." he said, kneeling to kiss me.

"How are you? You guys have fun?"

"Yeah. Being out for a while helped my mood."

"Good."

"Watching Valentine's Day?"

"How'd you know that?"

"I know everything." he said, smirking.

"Sure you do." I said smirking back.

"Hey, Kris." Vero said.

"Hey, Vero."

"Kris, I'd like you to meet Rhonda's mother, Susan. Susan, this is my boyfriend, Kris."

"Nice to meet you." he said, shaking her hand.

"Nice to meet you." she said, returning the favor.

I opened my eyes to see him smiling at me.

"Mind if we watch the end of this or...?" Vero asked.

"No, not at all. Enjoy the rest of the movie."

And we did. By eleven, we were lying in bed together.

"I missed you." I said into his neck.

"I missed you too. How was your day?"

"Great. Vero came over when Susan and I were looking at Kalea's beautiful room. We ate dinner after that then watched a movie."

"That's wonderful. My girls had a great day."

The following morning, I woke up to Kris looking at me.

"Good morning." I said smiling myself.

"Good morning." he said before kissing me.

"I missed you, too."

I got more and more into the kiss, moving on top of him.

"I love you."

"I love you, too."

We went back to kissing and I couldn't have felt better.

"Take off your pants." I demanded.

"Excuse me? Take off your shirt." he said, laughing.

I laughed too.

"Ok, but seriously. Take them off."

"I am too. Take off your shirt."

And we did, then we took everything else off and I laid on my side, ready to go.

"Ready?"

"Ready."

Not even a second later, he was inside and I was in heaven. I tried to keep my moans as quiet as possible.

"Kris?"

"Yeah?" he asked breathlessly.

Damn.

"We gotta remember that there's a certain somebody else in the house."

"Ok." he said into my neck.

I closed my eyes and smiled as I felt his arms and hands on my bulging stomach. Some time later, we were done and I was out of breath. Only a minute after we finished and I was sitting upward, I felt Kalea kick... hard.

"Ow! Kalea, that hurts."

Kris laughed.

"Now, Kalea, don't hurt Mommy. It's not nice. You can kick her all you want..."

I pushed him for that.

"Shut up, asshole."

I tried to remain serious, but I couldn't contain the laughter.

"Sorry."

"You better."

"You love me."

"You're right. I do."

"I love you, too." he said, kissing me.

Once we dressed, I led us out of our bedroom to find that she wasn't up yet.

"I might as well take this opportunity to make breakfast."

"Mind if I help?" he asked politely, like a little kid.

"I was hoping you would."

"What were you thinking?"

"Blueberry pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, oj..."

He nodded.

"I like that."

"Good."

Then, we gathered what we needed and began cooking. I heard Susan walk once the first two slices of toast popped.

"So, what's for breakfast? It smells good in here."

"Blueberrry pancakes, toast, eggs, sausage and oj."

"Sounds delicious."

In less than five minutes, we were sitting down in the living room, eating breakfast.

"This is wonderful. Thank you."

"Don't mention it. I love to cook. My mom and Kris try to get me to cook less as I gain weight."

She laughed.

"That's what your father did when your mother was pregnant."

"Glad to know he and Kris have/had something in common."

I leaned into Kris.

"I'm sure they have more than that in common."

"Yeah. I agree." I said looking up at Kris.

He smiled at me.

That day came and went so fast, it almost gave me whiplash. Early in the morning, say about eight, she was back on the road making her back home to Baltimore.

"What do you want to do today?" he asked.

"Get out of the house. What do you want to do?"

"The same thing. Getting out of the house sounds great."

Around ten, we headed out for a nice breakfast and spent the day out and about until eight. I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was sleep. I couldn't help but think about how much I wished it was next month.
