Cellphones: Texts & Calls (ON-HOLD)

Feel Better

It's been four weeks. Raisa and I messaged or called each other every chance we got. I found out more about her after the days, but she was still very mysterious. I felt like I knew everything and nothing about the woman.

3:56PM: Are you ever going to tell me why you have your job? - Naz

4:00PM: No. Why would I? ;) - Raisa

4:02PM: Because we have a special bond here! Don't you feel it!?!? :D - Naz

4:05PM: Lol Naz, you're a dork. - Raisa

4:07PM: Why won't you tell me more about you? :( - Naz

4:08PM: I just can't yet. Someday. But hey call me when you get the chance alright xoxo - Raisa

5:10PM: Fine - Naz

5:11PM: Please don't be mad. I just have to figure it all out. Ttyl - Raisa

I let out a sigh. She was very touchy when it came to anything about her. She told me the basics, where she lives and what she does. Nothing more and nothing less was leaked out. I was telling her everything about me. I even snuck in the hockey bomb.

"Are you okay?" Orr asked as I rested my head on my stall in the arena inh frustration.

"Yeah, just girls." A smirk appeared across my face a little bit. I sounded very soft.

"You'll live, kid." Colton's grin showed his teeth that didn't exist.

Raisa POV

8 days later

I couldn't tell him about the Brendan Gallagher thing. My brother and him had this feud lately on the ice. Plus, they were sworn rivals. I couldn't betray him like that. We were family. If Nazem Kadri knew I was Brendan Gallagher's sister, who knows what could happen?

I threw my phone on my couch in frustration. I stared at it for a few seconds before picking it up again. I tried to call Brendan.

It rang four times before being answered. "Hey Raisa, what's up?"

I paused for a second before responding. "Can I ask you about you Nazem Kadri?" I played with the hem of my shirt, hoping for an answer.

He laughed for a while. "Yeah, but why would you have any interest in that loser?" He asked.

My heart fumed with anger. "Brendan, he's not a loser. He has way more points than you." I never thought I was capable of saying such hurtful words to my own brother.

"Raisa, are you okay?" He asked a little confused. I was silent.

"Y-yeah, sorry. I didn't mean that. I-I was just, not thinking." I paused for a second. "I'll call you back."

"Raisa, are you sure you're fine?" He sounded a little worried. I was acting way out of the ordinary right now. I was devoted to my family.

"I'm okay. But I have to go."

I've received two phone calls and about five texts from Nazem over the last three days. I haven't brought myself to talking to him. I finally realized the outcome of things between us.

I was examining Curtis Lazar as he was complaining of a soar shoulder. He was way younger than me, but he was very fit. Curtis was about my brother's age.

"I think it's just a little swollen right now from the blow you took from Goulbourne last game. If if puts you through that much pain—I can only suggest you sit out and keep it iced. You don't want to strain it Curtis," I warned him as he slowly put his shirt back on.

He sighed. "Write me down as day-to-day. Thank you, Raisa. Anything else to suggest? You know, for a full recovery and what not." He flashed me a small.

"Don't sleep on it, you'll make it tense. Now don't you rush it. If still hurts, let me know and we can set you up with the massage therapist or I can take a look at it again. Just the Advil or Tylenol should do it," I told him as I wrote it all down on a paper, so he wouldn't forget. These boys would always come strolling back in, complaining that it wasn't healing.

I handed him the paper. "Thanks again," He said before turning around. "By the way your phones been going off this whole time," He pointed out as he left my office.

"Stay safe!" I yelled to him as I grabbed my phone and saw that it was only Nazem trying to get ahold of me, again.

12:34PM: Raisa are you alright ?? - Naz

1:41PM: Missed Call From Nazem Kadri

2:12PM: Call me when you get the chance :) - Naz

4:10PM: Did I do something wrong? - Naz

5:23PM: Missed Call From Nazem Kadri

I sighed in frustration.

I laid on my hotel bed. It was quiet other than the loud voices of the teenage boys. They were either playing pranks on each other or playing system link Xbox 360 games. I've participated once or twice, I won't lie. They were only a couple years younger.

I heard my phone go off and I answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey Raisa," I heard the familiar voice say.

I took a deep breath. "What's going on?"

He laughed softly. "I should be asking you that question."

"I'm sorry, Naz. It's just that I can't do this over the phone any more. It's too much for me to handle. You're too much for me to handle." I heard him breathing, but other than that a word wasn't spoken. "Naz?"

"I'm just a regular guy, Raisa. I know this is hard to do. You emotionally want to get attached, while at the same time you can't."

"You're not regular. You treat me nice, but this is all over the phone."

"Raisa—"

"Nazem, I need to figure it all out."

"...Alright."
