My Gold Medal

I was getting ready to head to the arena, which I held directions to in my right hand. As I was pleased with my jeans and Russian jacket selections I was set to go.

I walked down the hall as I seen someone walk out of the room ahead of me. It was Alex. He looked over at me before he called me over. "Ekaterina!"

I walked over to him. We stood in front of of the elevator. "Hey, Alex. What are you doing?" He pushed the button for the elevator. It soon came.

"Heading down to the arena. Just going to get there early to go see the Canadians practice. We practice right after them." I nodded my head at him.

"Oh, awesome. I'm heading over there too. Zinoviya is meeting up with me. We're going to watch them practice as well."

We were now standing in the elevator. "Want to share a cab?"

"Yeah, sure." It rung as we hit the main floor. The doors opened and we were in the giant lobby. I followed Alex into the front of the building where we were going try catch a cab. There were reporters packed in front. They were like a magnet to Ovechkin.

"Alex! Alex! Alex!"

He pushed threw them for a while before he stopped. "Alex! Are you looking forward to your opening game against Denmark?"

I was hiding behind him. I managed to push through the crowds. I ended up no where near Alex, unfortunately. I was being disregarded and shoved off onto the street. I was an athlete too... But maybe I wasn't as important per say. I could hear everyone shouting at him. They really loved him.

"Excuse me, Ilyukhina?" I spun around to see a man standing there with a recorder.

I stared at him. I didn't know who he was, at all. "I wanted to talk to you about your competition tomorrow..."

The biggest smile crept across my face.

I showed up at the arena with Alex after quite some time. Zinoviya was looking impatient when I walked up to her.

She let out a loud sigh. "Holy shit, you took forever." She looked over at Alex and rolled her eyes. "And you brought him."

"I met him in my lobby. He wanted to share a cab, but he ended up being harassed by reporters." I smirked up at him and he just laughed.

"Now come on, lets go sit down."

We looked at the stands. There were plenty of seats to choose from. There was a blonde girl who stood up when she saw us, or so I thought.

"Alex!" Her snarky voice yelled. He ran up to her and embraced her into a hug.

I looked over at Zinoviya who was staring, intensely. I glanced at her and then to the couple. She was definitely looking in that direction. I decided to pull her away to our own seats, a good ten rows behind Alex and his girl.

"You like Alex."

She roared with laughter. "I don't like Alex. He's so annoying!" I smiled at the girl in denial.

"Okay, Zinoviya you like him. It's fine. He's a great—"

"I don't like him," She repeated.

"Zinoviya, don't hide it." The girl who was with Alex was now snuggled into his chest. He kept leaning down to kiss her. They were really cute together.

"Fine," She mumbled.

I was pleased with the answer I received. "So what are you going to do about it?" A grin spread across my face as I thought of Zinoviya and Alex together.

"Nothing, he really cares about that girl. I'm not going to ruin that for him. But enough about me, you and Geno?" She cooed and I rolled my eyes. I knew purposely she switched subjects because she was head over heels for this Russian stud.

"Zinoviya," I whined. "You have to tell him!" I thought about it for a while. "I'll let you set me up on a date with Evgeni if you tell Alex about your feelings," I said attempting to persuade her.

I awaited her reply as I stared at her. "Maybe. I need to think about it first." I screamed in excitement causing the couple in front of us to glance over at us. Our faces turned pink with embarrassment.

Alex turned around to look at us again. His arm was still rested around the girl. "Geno's coming!"

I let out a sigh. Zinoviya chuckled loudly while she poked me.
