True North

Toronto to Boston

*Two weeks later*

"FaceTime me EVERY day okay?!" Abby and I were saying our goodbyes. I was about to depart to boston, and couldn't be more scared

"Obviously!" I couldn't not talk to my best friend everyday.

"Oh, and make sure you get back in touch with Dougie, have some fun, you're a college girl now you know!"

"I doubt he would bother with me again, but I will try." I lied, I definitely wouldn't, I could still dream though.

"He asked to see you again, did he not?" Abby did have a point, but I still wasn't convinced.

"I guess, we'll just have to see what happens." I said in a playful tone. Ever since that night, I had this new found confidence, it was as though my anxiety had just completely vanished, and I could talk freely now.

"I like that attitude, Aud!"

*Now boarding flight C27 Toronto to Boston* The P.A system announced.

"Well, I guess I'll see you at Christmas, Ab." My tone was noticeably sad. I hadn't even been this sad saying goodbye to my parents, I even chose not to bring them to the airport.

Abby took me into a hug, "Never know, Aud, I may make a surprise visit up there, you can show me around boston and stuff!"

"Well, it won't be a surprise now will it!" We let go of each other, and I headed for the gate. This was the beginning of my new life.

"Thank you for flying Air Canada, we hope to see you again soon!" Flight hostess' were always way to cheery for my liking. I grabbed my bag from the overhead compartment, and walked off the plane. My stuff was already shipped to my dorm, all I had to worry about was getting a ride there, which wasn't hard at all.

Enroute to my dorm, I got a chance to admire the city I loved. I was born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, but I knew my heart belonged in Boston. The Bruins are my families favourite NHL team, and we had travelled here several times. Each time I just knew, this was my city.

Before I knew it, my driver snapped me out of my awe, "Ma'am, we're here." I was way too busy in my own world to realize we had arrived.

"Thank you!" I gave him his money, and into the dorm I went. The building itself wasn't to impressive, but I could care less. I could have gotten an apartment to myself, but I wanted the dorm and roommate experience.

I unlocked the door to my room, boxes were strewn everywhere. The movers just threw everything in and left I guess. My roommate, Julie, was due to move in tomorrow, a good reason to get my stuff in order. As I was about to start, my stomach growled; I hadn't eaten since breakfast, and it was now past lunch. Deciding it might be a good idea to eat, I grabbed my purse, and went to find the nearest pizza parlour.

After ordering my pizza, I sat down at a table and checked my phone. I had given few people my new number, of course Abby was one of them.

Did you make it okay?

Yes ma'am.

Wonderful! Have you seen him yet?;)

I've only been here a couple hours, what do you think?

Yeah I guess

Lol. How's Canada without me?

Not the same.

"You're order is ready!" The women standing at the counter informed me.

TTYL Ab, foods ready.

Bye!

I hurried back to my dorm, scarfed down my pizza, and started unpacking my boxes.

"Auden! It's nice to finally meet you!" Julie exclaimed.

"You too, Julie! Do you want help with your stuff?"

"Yes please, that would be great, I only brought a little bit up with me, I'll be going back home every weekend, so I figured I could just bring stuff up little by little." Julie lived in Massachusetts, a short drive outside of Boston, but figured it would be easier to stay in the city.

"That's pretty logical." I stated as I grabbed one of her boxes.

We unpacked in silence for ten minutes, when I remembered I had something for her. I quickly got up and grabbed it, then handed the slip of paper to her. "My parents bought us season tickets to the bruins!"

"Oh my God! Thank you so much! I don't want to sound impolite, but are you guys rich or something?" She was clearly ecstatic.

"Don't mention it! and I wouldn't say rich, but we are pretty well off."

"Must be nice! Thank you so much for this, I can't even wait for the season to start now!

"Me too, I've been dying without hockey!"

With that, we went back to unpacking her stuff, making small talk here and there. She said thank you maybe half a million times. Okay so, it was more like ten, same thing. I was just glad to give it to her, and glad that I would have someone to go to games with, especially since she loved the bruins just as much as I did!

Two hours later, we had our whole room organized, and decided on going out for supper. I threw on a pair of dark wash jeans, and a simple turquoise top, paired with silver sandals. Julie had decided on a pink floral summer dress with black flats. We both freshened up our make up, and off we went.

Julie and I settled on a nice little italian restaurant, my favourite! The waiter laughed when we ordered the same thing; Spaghetti and meatballs. Before long, we had our meals in front of us. It was shocking how quickly everything arrived actually. The serving of food was too big to finish, so we waited for our food to be taken, and then our bill. In such short time, Julie and I were already great friends, and I could see that this year was going to be one to remember.

Just as we got up to leave the restaurant, I heard a familiar voice, "So, this is what you meant by you'll see me again… you're on vacation in Boston?" Dougie, oh my God.

Notes

So, I know I said I'd make the next chapter long and stuff, but I needed a filler. I could have continued on with this, but leaving it as is will save my ideas for a real chapter! Plus this is two chapters in one night, in a short period. Terribly sorry!
