Therapy is Good for the Soul

Chapter 16

“Answer your fucking phone!” Soupy yelled as he threw a pillow at Tyler waking him.

“What? Sorry.” Tyler said before rolling over turning on the light and getting his phone from the nightstand. “Bay?” he managed to groggily say.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t think about how early it is. I can call back later.”

“It’s fine. Everything ok?”

“It’s fantastic! Would it be ok if we changed our plans for tonight?”

“You don’t want to get together?” The disappointment could be heard in Tyler’s voice as he sat up in the bed and started to run his fingers through his hair.

“Don’t be silly, I just want to know if you’d be up for something different?”

“Sure, what do you have in mind?” Tyler said allowing his whole body to relax knowing she wasn’t cancelling on him.

“I just won tickets to the Pink concert at the TD Gardens! Would you come with me? Please?”

“Of course. How’d you win?”

“I entered an online radio contest and woke up to an email saying I won. I can’t believe it; I never win anything. I love Pink! It’s going to be an awesome concert!!!” Bailey could no longer contain her excitement.

“That’s awesome! Are you sure you don’t want to take someone else? We can reschedule if you do.” Tyler said before he was hit by another flying pillow. “What the hell!”

“Excuse me?”

“Sorry Bay, that was for Soupy. Can you hold on a second?”

“Sure.”

Tyler covered the speaker on his phone with his hand. “What was that for?”

“Are you a fucking idiot? Why are you giving her an out?” Soupy asked.

“She won tickets to a concert. I’m trying to be nice and make sure she doesn’t want to take a girlfriend or something.”

“Dude, she called you at 6 fucking am, pretty sure she wants to go with you.”

Tyler smiled at that realization then uncovered his phone. “Bay, you still there?”

“I’m here, everything ok?”

“Yea, sorry ‘bout that.”

“To answer your question, there’s nobody I’d rather go to the concert with than you. Will you go with me?”

“I’d love to! Do you want to get dinner before the concert?”

“The concert starts at 7:30, if you can come over at 5:30 I can still make dinner for us.”

“Are you sure that won’t be too much trouble?”

“Positive!”

“I’ll see you at 5:30 then. Thanks for inviting me.”

“Great! It’s going to be so much fun, I can’t wait! See you tonight.” Bailey said fully energized.

“Looking forward to it. Bye Bay.”

“Bye Tyler.”

“You’ve got it bad!” Soupy told Tyler after he hung up the phone and noticed the huge smile across Tyler’s face.

“Can you blame me? She’s beautiful, smart, and super sweet. She’s perfect!”

“She likes you, so she’s definitely not perfect.”

“Fuck you!” Tyler shouted as a pillow hit Soupy this time.

“All jokes aside, I think she’s good for you. She seems to ground you. Now, turn off the light and lets go back to sleep.”

Tyler hated the Habs because he was a Bruin, after today he hated Montreal even more! The weather in Montreal was absolutely dreadful with severe thunderstorms causing all flights to be delayed. A few minutes ago, lightning hit the air traffic control tower and now the airport was closed until it could be repaired and the weather improved. Tyler couldn’t believe his bad luck and felt like the universe was against him being with someone as special as Bailey. Frustrated, he took out his phone to FaceTime with Bailey to tell her it looked like he wouldn’t be back in time for their date.

“Hi Tyler. Wait, aren’t you suppose to be on a plane?”

“That’s why I’m calling. I’m sorry Bay, the weather is really bad here and our flight is delayed. I’m afraid I won’t be back in time for our date.”

“Oh, do you think you’ll make it in time for the concert? I don’t mind going late, I don’t know who the opening act is anyways.” Bailey said as she bit her bottom lip.

“I wish I could say yes, but I just don’t know. Lighting hit the tower and the airport is closed, so there is no way to know when we’ll get to take off. I’m really sorry!” Tyler’s heart dropped when he saw the disappointed look on Bailey’s face.

“It’s not your fault Tyler. I don’t care when the plane arrives, as long as the precious cargo arrives safely.”

“Precious cargo huh?”

“Yea, I’d be devastated and the city of Boston wouldn’t know what to do if anything happened to our Little Ball of Hate.” Bailey tried to say with a straight face.

“I assure you Marchy is far from precious!”

“What? Who’s calling me precious?” Marchy perked up and moved to sit next to Tyler. “BAILEY! How’s my favorite chef? Miss me?”

“Hi Brad. I’m fine. I was just telling Tyler that Boston would be crushed if you didn’t make it back in one piece and he said your not all that.”

“He’s just jealous of my beauty! Not everyone can look as good as me you know.”

“Your so full of yourself!” Tyler scoffed.

“See, jealous. So Bailey, did you hear I scored that goal for you?”

“I did, so what would you like me to cook for you?”

“Hmm, I’m going to have to think on that one for a bit. Want to make sure I get my goal’s worth out of the deal.”

“Ok, just let me know. Now if you don’t mind, can I see Tyler again?”

“Sure, wouldn’t want to spoil you too much with this gorgeous mug of mine. See you later Bailey.”

“That’s probably wise, guess I’ll just have to settle for Tyler.”

“Gee thanks for the love.” Tyler said.

“That’s what you get for standing me up.”

“I’m sorry Bailey, if there was anyway I could be there I would.”

“I was just kidding Tyler. I know you can’t help it.”

“Do you know who you are going to take instead of me?”

“No, Em’s still out of town and Christina’s sick.”

“What about Freddy?”

“That’s a great idea! I should probably go so I can try to catch him. If he can’t go, I’ll have to make more calls to get someone else to go with me.”

“I’m so sorry! I really wish I could be there.”

“Tyler, I understand. You can’t control Mother Nature; I just want you to get home safely. It’s only one night, I hope there will be plenty more for us.”

“Me too; I promise I’ll make it up to you Bay! Any chance your plans have changed for tomorrow?”

“I wish, but I still have to work and then have that ethics class I have to take.”

“You’re still coming to the game on Saturday, right?”

“Wild horses couldn’t keep me away.”

“Great! I’ll see you Saturday. I guess I should let you go so you can call Freddy. Don’t have too much fun without me.”

“See you Saturday.” Bailey blew Tyler a kiss and then they hung up.

Notes

So sorry for the delay in getting another chapter up. I am hoping I can make it up to everyone by getting a few up this holiday weekend.

I can't say thank you enough for all of your positive comments. It means a lot that y'all are enjoying my first story!

** PS pretty awesome night Tyler had yesterday against the Jets. I know he didn't do as well tonight, but I hope as the season goes on he can have more performances like the one against the Jets. Wouldn't mind seeing him in that ridiculous cowboy hat more either; he can make anything look good!
