Thankful

The pair had barely even gotten all the way into the building before Liz determined that this was the absolute best place she and ever been. The inside of the bed and breakfast was decorated with a warm, cabin like feel and she looked around in awe as she tried to grasp that Adam had planned a weekend here for them. As he checked in for them she wandered slightly before she felt his hand on the small of her back, starting to lead her towards the staircase at the side of the room. They headed upstairs and he used the key in his hand to open one of the two doors that were down that hall and held it open for her to go in. If she thought that the downstairs of this place was incredible, she was in complete awe when she walked into the bedroom. There was a huge bed on the one side of the room, and a fire place with the biggest comfiest couch she had ever seen on the other side of the room. She walked in further and put her bag at down at the foot of the bed. She stood at the foot of the bed staring around the room until Adam's voice knocked her out of her trance.
"So?"
"This place is absolutely amazing." Before she finished her sentence she felt his hands on her shoulders and his chest up against her back. She leaned back into him and closed her eyes as his hands worked her shoulders.
"Isn't it? And it's even more amazing that I get to be here with you." He kissed the top of her head.
Liz turned, facing him, looking up at him with a content smile. "You, Adam McQuaid, are something else."
"I have to give you credit for that."
"Me?"
He nodded, wrapping his arms around her pulling into him. "Out of all the guys in there, you picked me."
"How does that make me responsible for you being something else?" She said with a small chuckle.
"I don't want you changing your mind," he chuckled, "so I plan on making sure you show just how amazing you are to me."
She stared up at him for a moment taking him in. She wasn't sure how she managed to find someone as amazing as him, but she knew what she felt for him was a feeling that she wanted to feel forever. She slid her hands up to the back of his neck, resting them there are her fingers played with the small curls at the base of his neck.
"Out of all the guys, why did I have to meet you last?"
"Save the best for last, I guess." He smiled.
She returned his smile, gently pulling his head down towards her. He held her as close to him as he could as he captured her lips with his own. Liz slowly started to push Adam backwards towards the bed which was a few feet behind him, but instead he bent down slightly moving one of his arms to the back of her thighs and effortlessly picked her up walking her over to the king sized bed. As soon as her feet left the ground she wrapped her arms around his neck and squealed slightly, not expecting to be picked up. As they approached the bed, he stood at the side for a minute staring down at the girl in his arms. She took this opportunity to slide her hands around to her face, cupping his face and kissing him. After a few moments, Adam pulled away with a smirk playing on his lips. Without warning, he tossed Liz into the middle of the bed eliciting another squeal from her lips. She laughed and went to turn to look at Adam to scold him, but instead was met with his lips again; a much more welcome scenario. She sighed into the kiss as he slowly worked his way on top of her and her hands found the back of his head.
"You sure you're up for this after a game and a long drive?"
"We won. What a better way to end the night?"
She smirked up at him. "Well… you technically didn't get any points this game, but you did plan this whole weekend, so I guess I'll let you get away with it."
"I might not have scored on the ice, but I'm sure I can score right now."
"A little cocky, are we?"
"Not cocky, confident." Before she could say any more to him, he leaned down and covered her lips with his own.
Again she welcomed the feeling of his warm lips against hers. Liz couldn't think of anywhere else that she wanted to be in that moment except for in that bed with Adam. She smiled to herself thinking that she got him all to herself for a whole weekend and he pulled away.
"What?"
She leaned up and pecked him, "You're amazing."
He smirked, "baby, you haven't seen anything yet."

The next morning Liz woke up, for the first time in a long time to her own accord. She let out a sigh, smiling to herself as she felt the arms around her waist tighten.
"Morning." She said softly as she snuggled herself back into Adam's chest.
"Morning, baby." He replied sleepily and kissed the back of her head.
She had to admit that one of her favourite things about Adam was his sleepy morning voice. She reached her arm around to the back of his head, running her fingers through his hair.
"That's a pretty sexy morning voice you've got there."
He smiled and leaned his mouth closer to her ear, "mmm, you like that, huh?"
"Oh you have no idea."
He kissed the back of her neck, and she sighed again flipping herself around in his arms to face him.
"Sleepy face is pretty sexy too, hotshot."
"Just to save time, is there anything about me that isn't sexy this morning?" He chuckled.
She furrowed her brows and pursed her lips together, "hmmm… Not that I can think of right now. But you might be able to blame that on my sexy ass boyfriend." She chuckled and leaned up kissing him.
As the kiss started to get deeper, Adam pulled away.
"How about breakfast in bed before round two?"
She smiled, closing her eyes and threw her head back. "You just keep making this weekend better."
He chuckled, kissing her shoulder before leaning over to grab the phone. "Who knew breakfast would make you this excited."
"Of course it does," she followed his body as he rolled on his side to call for breakfast. "Someone made me work up an appetite last night." She cuddled into his back, wrapping her arms around his waist and pressing her cheek into his back smirking. After placing a kiss on his shoulder blade, she unwrapped herself from him and scooted out of the bed heading to the bathroom while he got their breakfast. When she came back out of the bathroom, Adam was sitting up against the headboard of the bed scrolling through his phone. She walked over to the bed and straddled his waist, locking her hands behind his neck.
"So, what's on the agenda for today."
"Absolutely nothing."
"Then I hope you know that means I don't plan on getting out of bed." She chuckled as there was a knock not he door. Grabbing Adam's shirt from the floor and throwing it over her head she headed towards the door, glancing across the room as she did so.
"Well, maybe I'll get out of bed to sit in front of the fire." She chuckled over her shoulder. Opening the door, she thanked the man on the other side and grabbed the tray from him bringing it back over to the bed, sitting it on the end before getting in and cuddling up in the giant duvet.
"Okay, I'm ready."
Adam leaned across the bed and picked up the tray and looked over at her as he placed it between them. When he saw her he broke out in a laugh; she was cuddled up, the duvet puled up to her nose.
"What do you expect me to do, feed you too?"
"Well, I wouldn't argue." She said smiling.
Grabbing a piece of fruit from the plate he held it in front of her and she leaned forward taking it from his fingers. "I could get used to this."
He leaned forward and kissed her, "I'm sure you could."
They continued to finish their breakfast with no hurry, continuing to feed each other the occasional piece of fruit or exchange the odd kiss. After breakfast was finished Liz hopped out of bed and hurried over to the fire place, pressing the button on the side and watched it ignite. She smiled to herself as she turned to look at Adam who was still sitting in the bed.
"You're going to make me sit on this extremely comfy couch and enjoy this gorgeous fire all by myself Mr. McQuaid?"
He chuckled and threw the sheets off him getting out of bed and walking over to the couch where she was already sitting, her feed tucked up under her. He sat down beside her, grabbing the blanket from the edge of the couch and wrapped it around the both of them before wrapping his arm around her. She looked up at him and kissed the underside of his jaw before nuzzling her head into his shoulder.
"I could stay like this forever, you know."
"You'd start to smell after a while," he chuckled lightly.
"Of course you have to get technical."
"It's just fun to see you riled up." He said with a smirk.
She cuddled into his side more and let out a content sigh staring out at the fire in front of her. They sat like that on the couch for a while, just enjoying comfortable silence wrapped up together on the couch. After about half an hour Liz looked up at Adam who was softly stroking her hair with his eyes focused on the fire. She studied his face for a while, something she had done several times already this weekend.
"Thank you." She whispered quietly.
He slowly looked down at her, his hand not moving from her hair.
"For what?"
"This weekend. I haven't thanked you for all of this yet."
"Really? 'Cause I considered last night a pretty big thank you." he chuckled.
"Well, if that's what you considered that," she moved from her comfortable position at his side working herself up so she could straddle him, "then how about I show you again just how thankful I am?"

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
