Always

The next night Adam and Liz sat on her couch, mugs of hot chocolate in hand. She hadn't stopped smiling since she heard Adam's voice ring through the basement at her grandma's house the day before. What made her even happier was the fact that her entire family seemed to love him. She nuzzled closer into his side as they continued to watch the movie they had put in earlier. She knew that he had to leave the next morning to make it back to Boston in time for their game so she was enjoying the time they had together. Taking a sip from her mug she looked up at him and placed a small kiss to the underside of his jaw. Smiling, he looked down at her.
"This is perfect." She let out a small, happy sigh, smiling. "Best Christmas ever."
He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. "I never thought I would say this, but I'm glad you're friends with Segs," He chuckled, "Made organizing this a lot easier."
She laughed and kissed him again. "I'm definitely glad you did. No one's ever done anything like this for me."
"I couldn't spend Christmas without you, it was you stay in Boston with me or I come here with you, I just figured a surprise was more fun than me hoping on the plane with you."
"You were right on that one. You definitely know how to make me a happy girl."
"It's my job." He smiled and kissed the top of her head.


A few days later and it was New Years eve. Liz had been back in Boston for a day or so now and she was sitting in her apartment alone planning her outfit for that night. She texted her roommate in frustration because Julie was usually the one she went to when she had no idea what to wear, but since Julie was still at home for the next few days she was left to her own devices. After sifting through her closet and deciding that none of her choices were worthy of a New Years eve celebration with the Bruins she pulled out her phone and opened a new message to Brittany.
'You busy?'
'Unless you count sitting here watching Milan shovel his face full of food, then nope I'm not!'
'Perfect! How do you feel about shopping?'
'Is that even a question?! I'll come pick you up!'
Liz flopped down on the couch in relief that Brittany was free this afternoon and waited for her to arrive. While she was waiting she sent a text to Adam.
'Guess who's getting a new outfit for new yeeeears?'
'Is it me? Cause that would be awesome'
'ha ha ha, very funny hotshot.'
'I know I'm good, you don't have to tell me. You're getting something sexy right? ;) '
'Considering I'm shopping with Brit, there will be no other option haha'
'Please tell Brit I love her'
She rolled her eyes at his reply and before she had the chance to counter it she heard the buzzer ring. Grabbing her purse she ran over to the door and hit the button yelling a quick 'coming!' and threw her shoes on grabbing her coat and running down. When she got downstairs she saw Brit in her car waiting at the curb. She got in and Brit leaned over for a hug.
"I'm so glad you texted me! I was going to suggest the next time I saw you at a game that we have a girls outing soon instead of only seeing each other at the smelly arena."
"I need a new outfit for tonight's party and I couldn't think of anyone better suited to help me find one than you!" Liz chuckled at the smile that spread across Brit's face as she pulled away from the curb.
"I'm honoured! Oh, we're picking up Katie too by the way."
Liz shrugged, "sounds good to me, the more the merrier!"
Once all girls were present and accounted for they headed to the mall. They headed right to Brit's favourite store and got right at it.
As they were searching through the racks Brit turned to Liz.
"How was your Christmas, hun? You went home right?"
"Yeah, I did. And it was amazing."
Katie stopped and looked up at Brit with a shocked look on her face.
"Wait, Milan didn't tell you what Adam did for her?!"
Brit dropped the dress she was looking at and started up at Katie.
"No!" Her head dramatically snapped towards Liz, "What did he do?!"
Liz chuckled and stepped continued to flip through the dresses.
"He was supposed to be in Boston for the holidays, but he surprised me and showed up at my Grandma's house Christmas day."
"Oh my god. That is legit the sweetest thing I've ever heard! What a sweetheart! Did you cry?! I would have cried."
She stopped and looked up at Brit, noticing the excited look on her face.
"Yeah," she chuckled, "I definitely did."
"Adam's the sweetest guy, I wasn't surprised when Greg told me what he had planned."
Liz looked over at Katie, "He told Greg?"
"Yep! He told a few of the guys. Wanted to make sure that it was a good plan before he committed to it."
She shook her head chuckling to herself at the thought of a bunch of hockey players sitting around discussing cute plans to surprise their girlfriends or wives. She continued to sift through the dresses not listening to the quiet mumblings the other two women were currently partaking in. When she finally looked up, she noticed both of them smirking at her.
"What?"
"He's absolutely head over heals with you, you know." Katie stated, a smile permanent on her face.
"Let me guess, Greg?"
"Yeah," she chuckled, "he told me how much he couldn't shut up about you on that last road trip and that he skipped team dinner to FaceTime with you."
"And that's a big thing?"
Brittany piped up from her spot at the rack. "No one skips team dinner."
She took a minute to absorb this statement, then looked up at the girls.
"Well, I'm pretty head over heals for him too. So I guess we're on the same page."
Both girls exchanged smiles with each other before looking back at Liz. She was enjoying the amount of excitement they were getting from her relationship with Adam and it was definitely comforting to her to know that he felt the same way about her as she did about him and wasn't afraid to let his teammates know that. A few moments later Brittany pulled out a pink long sleeve dress that was covered in sparkles. Holding it up she looked over at Liz and held it out to her.
"Go try this on."
Looking at the dress, it wasn't exactly something she would pick for herself, but since it was Brit, she grabbed the dress and headed to the curtained area at the side of the store. After putting it on she examined herself in the mirror. the dress was hot pink and stopped about mid thigh on her. Turning slowly she appreciated the way it looked on her, hugging her in all the right places. Stepping out of the change room she cleared her throat to get the attention of the other two girls. Before she had time to say anything both girls broke out into smiles.
"You're getting it." Brit said definitely.
"You seriously look hot in that. May not make it to midnight, Adam might just take you home early!"
She blushed at the girls comments about her appearance and looked down at herself again.
"Alright then! I'm sold!"

A couple hours later all three girls had achieved their shopping goals all heading home with new dresses and shoes for the occasion ahead of them. They had agreed to meet at Brit and Milan's place later that night so the three of them could get ready together before heading out to meet the boys at the club after they were done playing. So Liz was currently running around her apartment grabbing everything she was going to need to get ready for that night. Also in her ventures around the apartment she tossed around stuff that was laying in odd places in attempts to clean up slightly, anticipating that she would not return home alone this evening. Hearing her phone go off from the counter in the kitchen, she popped around the corner grabbing it and peering down at the screen.
'Come over early! I don't want to eat dinner alone :('
She chuckled at Brit's plea and typed back her message.
'Sure! Be there in 10 :)'
Running to her room, she threw her heels in the bag of stuff she needed for that night and headed to the door. Before she left the apartment she opened her phone again sending a message to Adam.
'Off to Brit's to get sexy for tonight ;) Can't wait to see you. Play hard hotshot!'
With that she threw her phone in the bag alone with everything else and was on her way to Brit's.
Half an hour later all three girls sat around the Lucic's kitchen table eating Chinese takeout, which was according to Brit and Katie a staple food to eat before a night of drinking. In the midst of her conversation she heard her phone buzz from her bag hanging on the back of the chair. Grabbing it, she reached inside pulling out her phone and looking at the name on the screen. The girls didn't even need to ask to know who it was, it was evident by the smile on her face.
'You always look sexy. I'll play my ass off just for you, even though you're too busy getting ready to watch ;)'
She looked at the time on the top of the screen and thought to herself that he probably sent her a quick text before the guys headed on the ice for pre-game warm up so she decided not to reply since he needed to focus.
"So, what did your man have to say that's got that smile on your face?"
"Just letting me know he's planning on kicking ass and taking names tonight." She chuckled shovelling another fork full of the delicious food into her mouth.
"Of course he is, get's him all fired up and manly feeling! Which is exactly what he needs when he's gonna have a sexy ass date for the night." Brit winked at her.
"So all of our guys are kicking ass tonight then?" Liz laughed, "cause I don't foresee any of us looking anything but damn fine."
All three women made noises of agreement and focused back on their food. When they were finished, Brit jumped up from the table and clapped her hands.
"Alright ladies, time to get gorgeous!"
Liz and Katie chuckled and grabbed the bags that they had come armed with. Liz followed Brit and Katie into the master bedroom and followed Katie's lead as she started to lay her stuff out on a section of the large bed at the side of the room. Over the next few hours the girls chatted as they worked on their hair and faces. When they were finished all three girls stood in front of the mirrored closet and took in their final appearances. Liz looked herself over, taking note of how much she loved the way the dress looked with her hair and makeup all done up. Sliding on her stroppy silver heels, she looked herself over and smiled slightly. She took in the big curls that framed her face and the smoky eye that she had finally perfected. This was one of the few times she was happy with the way she looked in a rather skin tight dress and she knew that Adam was going to love it. As the girls did the once over check on each other to make sure that they were good to go, they grabbed their clutches and were on their way down to the cab to head out to the club. Checking her phone once they got in the cab she saw that she had a message from Adam that was sent about 15 minutes ago.
'Just got off the ice, give us about 45 minutes and we'll all be there'
She looked over to the girls and told them the time frame and they both nodded. Excited chatter took over the back of the cab as the girls discussed how excited they were to have a night out with each other as well as their guys and could just enjoy the night and the prospect of a new year and new beginnings.

Half an hour later, a massive group of dolled up girls stood in the VIP section of the club all with drinks in hand. The wives and girlfriends chatted and carried on as they enjoyed their evening waiting for the guys to show up. As she was chatting with one of the wives she had just met that night, she felt hands on her hips and hot breath on her ear.
"Sexy thing like you have a kiss lined up for midnight?"
The panic left her as she recognized the voice. She turned around with a smirk on her face.
"I might, but I'm willing to reconsider if I find a better offer."
From the look on his face the moment she turned around, she knew that she had completely lost him. He took a step back and did a once over on her and after a few seconds let out a long, deep breath.
"Damn."
Even though she was feeling confident, she still felt the blush rise up her cheeks as his eyes roamed over her. He closed the space in between them and wrapped one arm around the small of her back and used the other hand to push some of her curls away from her face.
"You look absolutely amazing." He leaned down and captured her lips in his.
She slid her hands up around his neck, toying with the curls at the base of his neck as she deepened the kiss.
"Damn, this means I'm not going home alone, doesn't it?" She smirked as they pulled away.
"Not looking like that you're not." He pulled her closer sliding his hand down to give her ass a quick squeeze.
Sliding her hands around to his open collar, she gave it a quick tug. "You're looking pretty sexy yourself there hotshot."
Closing the gap between them, he kissed her again wanting to be as close as could allow being in public. After a few moments they heard someone clear their throat and broke apart to see who it was. Standing in front of them were Andrew and Krista, both of them with shit eating grins.
"You guys gonna make it until midnight?" Andrew chuckled. "Cause if you keep that up, we might have to send you two home!" Andrew walked over to Liz, pulling her into a hug and looking over her shoulder at Adam. "Although with her looking like this, I gotta say I can't blame you." He pulled back and held her by the shoulders, "you look good kid!"
She chuckled and leaned up to kiss his cheek, "thanks Andy."
As soon as he let her go Krista rushed over to get her hug for the night and looked up at her. "He's right you know, you are owning that dress tonight!"
"Thank you!" Liz said doing a little shimmy which caused both of the ladies to chuckle.
Adam placed his hand on Liz's back, gaining her attention. "I'm heading over to get a drink, want anything?"
"I'll come with you." She squeezed the older woman's arm and promised she would find her later, and proceeded to follow Adam back to the bar.
A couple hours and quite a few drinks later, everyone was piled onto the couches in the corner of the room awaiting midnight to come. Everyone was having a fantastic night enjoying the company of each other considering it wasn't often they were all out in this setting as a group. Liz sat on Adam's lap on the couch as she chatted with a few of the wives who did the same and Adam chatted with the guys around him. She felt Adam's lips on the exposed skin of the back of her shoulder and turned to look at him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I can't wait to get you home."
She smirked down at him. "We've got the place all to ourselves too."
She chuckled as she heard a groan come from his throat. "You shouldn't have said that yet."
She leaned down and placed a soft kiss on the side of his mouth. "Cool off hotshot."
Their moment was interrupted as they heard some of the guys starting to yell the countdown starting at 30, the group of people who were currently on the couches moved out to the open dance floor to join the rest of the team as they continued their countdown. Adam and Liz stood pressed together with her arms around his neck and his hands placed firmly on her hips. As the countdown neared closer, they inched closer to each other. They continued to add to the voices supplying a countdown as there were mere seconds left of the current year.
"3, 2, 1. HAPPY NEW YEAR!" The collective group yelled. Adam and Liz's eyes were locked on each other and mouthed a soft 'happy new year' before finally closing the gap between them and sealing her lips with his. After their new years kiss turned into a new years make out, they pulled away and Liz rested her nose against Adam's the best she could with her adjusted height from her heels.
"To the first of many New Years kisses with you."
Adam's eyes hadn't left hers from the moment they pulled away and she could see something in them. Of course she could see the obvious lust, but there was another tone to them that she couldn't pin point.
"Good, cause yore the only girl I want to be kissing at midnight." Liz leaned in to kiss him again and he deepened it pulling her into him as close as he could. Pulling away he rested his forehead on hers, neither of them aware of the outside world that currently surrounded them. After a few minutes Adam cut the silence.
"I love you."
If she hadn't been completely focused on him she probably wouldn't have been able to hear him. She stared at him for a minute as her heart started to pound hoping that she heard him right. A slow smile started to spread across her face and she pulled his head down to meet his lips with hers. Pulling away she still held his face in her hands with the brightest smile he had ever seen on her spread across her features.
"That's good, 'cause I'm pretty in love with you too."
He smiled, glad that she had returned his feelings. Pressing a quick kiss to her lips yet again he looked down at her, "how about we get out of here?"
"Second best thing I've heard all night. Let's go hotshot."

Here's the next one! I'm SO SO SO sorry that I'm not updating quicker, but I'm in my last semester of University now and every thing's psycho! Plus 2 jobs :(
