Future Visions

Liz looked up at Adam partly in shock. Neither of them had thought about whether or not they wanted to find out what they were having in all the chaos that had consumed them since they found out. He looked down at her and shrugged.
"You wanna know?"
"I don't know. Do you wanna know?"
He chuckled, "I asked you first."
She looked back over at the screen and stared at the little picture.
"Yeah, I kinda do." She looked back up at him, "what do you think?"
He smiled down at her and nodded then they both turned their attention to the doctor.
"Alright," she looked back to the screen once more double checking, "well, you're having a baby girl."
She held her breath for a second when the words came out of Dr. Marks mouth, but then let out a small chuckle.
"A girl?"
"Yep. You've got a healthy little girl in there."
A smile spread across her face as she stared at the screen. After a few seconds she looked back up at Adam who was also focusing at the little shape on the screen. She squeezed his hand and he looked down at her, smile present on his lips.
"What do you think?"
"I didn't really care either way, but a girl will do." He said with a smirk on his face.
She chuckled at him and the doctor started standing up and grabbed a towel.
"Well, unless you two have any questions we're all done here." She said wiping the gel off Liz's stomach.
Both of them shook their heads and the doctor smiled as she bid them farewell. Liz fixed herself up and stood up, moving herself right in front of Adam, looking up at him.
"I love you."
"I love you more." He leaned down to press his lips against hers.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, standing on her tip toes.
"I'm excited to see you with a baby girl in your arms."
He gave her a confused look.
"You see me with you in my arms all the timeā€¦"
She yanked the hair at the back of his neck playfully.
"Smartass."
"You love me."
"That's what I let you think. I'm hungry."
"Then let's go get some food in you mama."

They sat in Liz's favourite diner as both of them mowed down on their lunch.
"You know, part of me kinda wanted it to be a boy, have a little mini Adam running around. Little tiny hockey gear scattered everywhere." She shrugged.
"Hey, she can still play hockey."
Liz shot him a glare, "and pass up the chance to buy little baby figure skates, you're dreaming bub."
He chuckled and tossed a french fry at her nose. "Fine, have it your way."
She smiled smugly and took another bite of her wrap. Neither of them had really said much since leaving the office, but the subtle smiles that had been present since they saw the little figure on the screen remained present and accounted for. She put down her wrap and stared at Adam as he took another bite of his burger.
"We still have to tell our parents."
"Well aren't you just the buzzkill queen." He let out a sigh as he took a drink of the water in front of him.
"I know. I didn't really want to think about it either."
Just as Adam was about to say something, Liz's phone started blaring from her purse. Reaching down, she grabbed it out of its pocket and answered it without looking at the screen.
"Yello?"
"I'm pretty sure they claim it's gold, come on Lizzie."
She chuckled at Fred's response.
"Hi Freddy."
"Hi darlin', where are you?"
"Lunch with Adam. Why, what's up?"
"Where are you guys?"
"Uh, diner down the street from my place. Again, why?"
"You're not missing class again, I'm not going to let it happen missy!"
She groaned forgetting that today was her boring class with Fred.
"Don't you groan at me, I'll be there in ten minutes to pick you up. Eat fast."
"Ugh. I hate you, but okay."
"You love me."
"Suuuure."
"Whatever, I'm still going to be there in 18 minutes now."
"Geesh! Fine, see you then."
She hung up and tossed her phone back in her purse and looked back up at Adam who was looking at her with a quirked brow.
"I forgot today was boring as hell class day. Fred's coming to get me in 15."
His face dropped a bit. He had planned on spending the whole day with Liz after their appointment and he too had completely forgotten it was her class day. She was mowing down on her food trying her best to consume as much as she could and still be able to get to the bathroom before Fred got there. He reached across and grabbed one of her hands before she busied it with food again.
"I was going to keep you to myself all day though."
"Awe babe. You can have me for the rest of the day after class?" She tried her best to make him laugh with an obnoxious eyebrow wiggle.
He tried his best to hold onto his bummed face, but her eyebrows dancing on her face were too much for him and the smirk started to grow on his lips.
"Fine."
She leaned across the table and placed a quick kiss on his lips before taking one last bite of her food and standing up.
"Bathroom!"
She hurried off to the bathroom and Adam sat there watching her scurry across the diner. He leaned back in his chair and thought about the fact that in 5 months he was going to have a little baby girl, that hopefully would look just like the beautiful girl who was previously sitting across from him. He was snapped out of his thoughts by the feeling of someone tugging on his shirt sleeve. He looked over and saw a little girl, probably around 4 years old, hair up in big tails and wearing a little pink Bruins jersey smiling shyly up at him.
"Are you Quaider?"
He chuckled and turned himself in the chair to face her, leaning down so he was more her height.
"That's me, what's your name?"
"Olivia. Me and my daddy watch your games all the time." She looked down at her shoes, nervous to look up at him.
"Oh yeah? Who's your favourite player?"
She turned, showing him the number on the back of her jersey. It was a white 54 contrasting with the pink fabric and he smiled to himself.
"Oh really?"
She looked over her shoulder nervously smiling and nodding.
"Well how about this," he reached under the table and grabbed Liz's purse finding a sharpie in her mess of school supplies she constantly kept in there and signed the top of the 5.
She turned around and looked at him, eyes wide and jaw slightly opened.
"Now you've got a signed Quaider jersey Olivia." He said smiling down at her.
The smile that spread across her face was contagious and made the smile on his face grow.
"Thank you so much! My daddy's gonna be so jealous!"
He chuckled, "you're going to be the coolest girl in the house."
"Yeah! Can.. can I have a hug?"
"Of course you can!" He leaned forward and wrapped his big arms around the tiny girl. He looked down at her afterwards and she was looking up at him with adoring eyes. Liz was coming back from the bathroom when she stopped a few feet away from the table to watch Adam give the adoring little girl a hug and noticed the black scribble on the back of her jersey and smiled to herself. He was going to be amazing with their little girl.
"Thanks Quaider."
"You're very welcome Olivia. See you later!"
He chuckled as she ran back to the table he assumed her mother was waiting for her at and didn't notice Liz sitting down across from him.
"Someone's got a crush on my man."
He looked over at her, the smile still glued to his face.
"Well what can I say, all the little girls love me."
The smile on Liz's face softened and she grabbed his hand, playing softly with his fingers.
"I know one that's going to love you the most."
"I hope so." He said softly.
Liz rolled her eyes playfully and released his hand to reach down and grab her purse.
"Well if she's anything like her momma, she's going to be the biggest daddies girl out there." She stood up and walked around the table, kissing him on the cheek. "Fred's gonna be here any minute. See you after class?"
"Yeah, your place or mine?"
She shrugged, "doesn't matter. Let me know later."
"Kay."
She leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips.
"Love you."
"Love you too. Have fun."
She looked over her shoulder as she started to walk away and scoffed.
"Yeah right!" She shot him a wink and with that she was out the door.

Fred sat waiting outside of the diner in his SUV as Liz exited the doors. She quickly spotted his car and walked over to it, slamming her hands on the window and laughing as he jumped inside. She opened the door and he glared over at her.
"Damn it Lizzie. It's a good thing you're going to be a nurse cause you might have to restart my heart."
She shook her head, "Woos."
"Oh yeah, huge woos." He mumbled to himself as he put the car in gear and started to drive away.
"Thanks for picking me up."
"Because you didn't want to go, nor were planning to go to class, I know you don't mean that. But you're very welcome."
She chuckled. "You caught me. I was planning on being super lazy all day in my trusty sweats."
"You might be preggo, but you've still gotta do shit every once and a while girl."
She shook her head at him as he looked over at her.
"How's that going anyway?"
"Gooood. Went to the doctor this morning." She said with a smile on her face.
"Good news I suppose?"
"Yep. Everything's just fine."
He patted her leg and smiled at her. "That's what uncle Freddy likes to hear!"
"Well would uncle Freddy like to know exactly who he's going to be an uncle to?"
He shot his gaze over to her momentarily, "you found out?"
"Yeah, we never really talked about it before and she asked if we wanted to know and it was just too tempting." She giggled.
"Well then tell me woman!"
"Geesh, impatient much."
He glared at her and she giggled again, "baby girl." She said the smile large on her face.
He pulled up to the stop light and reached across the middle of the car wrapping his arms around her.
"Congrats babe. That's amazing."
"Thanks Fred."
"Well now I feel like an ass for making you go to class. Couldn't have told me that on the phone, eh?"
"We're already here, might as well just bite the bullet and go!" She said as they pulled into the parking lot.
"You make valid points. Glad to see pregnancy brain hasn't completely taken over yet! Warn me when that happens though, I'll steer clear."
They were both already out of the car and walking to their building and she leaned over and smacked his arm.
"Hey! Just saying!"
"Whatever. Oh, by the way, I know he's like your other half or whatever, but can you not tell Ty just yet. He's got a big mouth and we haven't talked about telling anyone yet."
"Sure. And he's not my other half."
She raised her eyebrows and nodded slowly. "Sure bro, whatever you say."

Notes

THERE IT IS!

It's a little girl for the adorable couple!

So that was pretty fluffy. I know that they're going to have to tell their parents, but I really am stuck for concrete ideas after that! I'm 100% open to suggestions and absolutely ADORE THEM.

I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED. THANKS FOR READING YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

Comment, vote, all the good stuff ;)

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
