I Trust you

*April's POV*

I was up before James the next morning and I lay in bed trying to digest all that had taken place the day before.

I turned over looking at James as the sun shone on his face making him look open and vulnerable, a look I didn't get to see too often.

"You're staring." he said breaking me from my trance

"Am not."

"Are too." he retorted with a hint of a smile playing at his lips "I've been awake longer than you think."

"How did you sleep?"

"Good." He smiled finally fluttering his eyes open. "How about you?"

"Best I've slept in a while."

"Good." he repeated sitting up and resting on his elbows as he leaned in for a kiss.

"Ew Morning breath." I said pushing him away earning an eye roll from James.

Nonetheless he got out of bed and trudged over to his bathroom.

I layed back down as I heard the tap water turn on and James brushing his teeth.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice that James had come back until i felt a warm sensation on my shoulder.

I turned to see James peppering kisses along my shoulder blade down to my collor bone when I let out a light gasp as he looked up at me with a smirk on his face.

"Mmm what do you want for breakfast?" He asked placing one last kiss on my neck before resting his head on my stomach.

"I dunno." I said carding my fingers through his hair. "Eggs sound good."

"Yeah they do." He agreed adding after I didn't respond. "So what are you waiting for?"

"Me?"

"Yeah, you offered."

"I did not." I protested "I simply made a suggestion."

James scoffed as he played with the hem of my shirt "We've only been together what, one night and you want me to make you breakfast in bed?"

"Hey you're the one who brought up breakfast!" I remind him with a light thwack on the back of his head.

"I'm kidding." He laughed sitting up and removing a strand of hair from my face caressing my cheek as I leaned into his touch.

"I know I didn't say it yesterday but...what you said, I uhh...I want you to know I feel the same way."

"How so?" He asked with a grin.

"You're gonna make me say it aren't you?"

"I can't make you do anything" He replied softly.

"I love you." I whispered "I just didn't say it because if I did it made this, us real. It made it real and something that I could loose."

"Hey, you're not going to loose me."

"I lost Logan."

"I'm not Logan."

My gaze drifted down towards the sheets between us as James lifted my chin so I was looking at him.

"I'm not Logan okay. You're not going to loose me." He pulled me into his chest. "I'm not going anywhere."

"And I know."

"Know what?"

"I know you love me." He shrugged adding "It was just nice to hear."

I smiled "C'mon let's go get started on those eggs."

"That was nice." James commented after we had finished our breakfast.

"Yeah it was." I smiled putting our dishes into the sink. "You owe me."

"Do I now?" He asked turning me around and pinning me against the counter.

"Mhm."

"Guess we'll have to make arrangements for that then."

"I guess so."

He glanced up at me with a smile and I smiled back, my eyes slowly drifting down to the ground.

The closer he leaned in the faster my heart beat and I swore James could hear it but all thoughts I had were erased when his lips met mine.

A slow pace became feverish as I nipped at James' bottom lip earning a growl and a push of his hips against mine.

I gasped into the kiss pulling James impossibly closer, he gave me a nip of his own as he licked into my mouth.

"Slow down love." I smirked pulling away.

"Don't tease me." He said lips ghosting over mine.

"No promises."

James opened his mouth to respond but before he could I closed my mouth over his wrapping my arms around his neck.

One hand moved from my waist to tangle in my hair before a voice interrupted us.

"Yo James! You read-OH MY GOD!"

We jumped apart and looked over to see the last person I expected to see standing in the doorway.

"Phil?" I breathed out "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to pick up James, he asked me to give him a lift to practice this morning. What are you doing here?"

"How'd you get in?" James asked when I didn't answer phil.

"You idiots left the door unlocked."

Silence consumed the room and it consisted mainly of Phil looking between James and I shaking his head before finally speaking.

"How long?"

"What?"

"How long?" Phil repeated.

"Is that really any of your business?" James challenged glaring at Phil.

Phil returned the glare taking a step closer. "She's like a little sister to me so yeah it is my fucking business."

"Just a couple of days." I interjected trying to distract from the staring match going on between Phil and James.

"Great so I'm the only one that knows about this."

"Yeah and you've got to keep it that way."

"What?" James and Phil said simultaneously.

"Are you kidding?" I asked looking at the both of them incredulously. "Do you really think Tyler can handle this?"

"So what were just gonna keep it a secret?" James looked at me as if I had grown a second head.

"Do we really have a choice?"

"Yeah actually, telling the truth!"

"Hey!" It was Phil's turn to interject "I'm not happy about it but I think April's right...the way things have been going I don't think he could handle something like this. Not now at least."

"I can't believe we're actually talking about doing this." James sighed running a hand over his face.

"Hey look at me." I said wrapping my arms around James' neck pulling him close "I hate having to do this just as much as you do but we said that we'd take a chance on this...on us."

"Yeah but we never said anything about keeping secrets."

"I know." I sighed resting my head on his chest a moment before looking up at him again. "If you won't do this for me do it for Tyler's sake, I promise you we will tell him when it's time but just...please promise me."

"I promise." He sighed pressing a soft kiss to my lips. "I promise."

I held him close in silent thanks and as we stood in his kitchen locked in embrace I knew that we were taking a leap of faith and I didn't know how but somehow...somehow I knew it would be worth it.
