Captain Clutch

After meeting Mario and his wife Nathalie I went to the washroom quickly before the team would take the ice. I stood at the mirror checking my makeup when I heard two girls come in behind me. They are tall and brunette, opposite of me. I am short and blonde. I tried to ignore them as I continued to fix my hair and makeup.
"I wish he would notice me. We live in the same house." The older one said to the younger one.
"Of course he notices you, you were the skimpiest clothes in the house." The younger one said rolling her eyes. The both laughed. Once they got to the mirror they looked at me.
"Are you Talbo's girlfriend?" The older one said rudely. "I'm surprised he is actually with one girl. I heard he sleeps around."
Ew. Not only was I offended, but a little disgusted. That was my brother they were talking about.
"No. I'm his sister." I said back in a sweet tone. God this girl was a bitch.
"Oh." The older one said. "Well I'm Lauren Lemieux and this is Stephanie my younger sister."
I smiled again finally realizing that they were talking about Sidney Crosby when they walked in. The NHL's top scorer and the Pittsburgh Penguins captain.
"I'm Kayla Talbot." I said extending my hand a small smirk coming over my face. "Anyways I should get back, don't wanna miss my 'boyfriend' come on the ice."
I turned and walked out the door rolling my eyes as I left. I walked over to my seat and sat down just in time as the lights went down.
"GET ON YOUR FEET AND MAKE IT LOUD FOR YOUR PITTSBURGH PENGUINS." The voice of the announcer said. I stood up and started clapping as soon as I saw my brother run through the tunnel and jump on the ice. He skated around a couple times before stopping in front of the bench to do some pre-game stretches. He's been doing this since he was in the Quebec Major Junior League. I smiled and sat back down.
"Are you a friend of Talbo's?" A guy my age asked. He must have slipped in beside me while I was watching my brother skate around. He had a cast on his wrist, it was the first thing I had noticed. I looked at his face and my eyes widened.
"Beau." He said extending his one good hand. I smiled getting a little shy once I realized who he was.
"Kayla. No I'm his younger sister." I said taking his hand and shaking it.
"Wow. Well, I feel sorry for him." Beau said taking a seat next to me.
"Why's that?" I said leaning my head to the side with a confused look on my face.
"He probably has to fight off all those guy's who want to get with you." Beau said with a childish grin on his face.
"I can take care of that myself." I say giggling a little. I looked back toward the ice to see the Captain Crosby take his place at the circle for the faceoff. The puck dropped and the game is on.

The game went by really quickly and I found myself getting along with Beau really well. We talked and laughed throughout the entire game. The Penguins won 4-1 with Crosby scoring a hattrick. It was so amazing. My first ever game and I get to see the face of the NHL do something so remarkable. I also got to see Maxime score a goal as well. It was a really cool experience. I was feeling a little nervous as I saw Ben appear at the top of the stairs ready to take me downstairs to meet everyone.
"I'm going to meet my brother downstairs, he's going to introduce me to the rest of the team. Are you coming down?" I asked standing.
"Yes, I'm going to meet the guys downstairs. I'll warn you though, Geno likes to go out after games and if he sees a beautiful girl like you he will probably invite you to come out with us." Beau said winking before he turned and started up the stairs.
I felt myself blush. He was talking about Penguins star forward from Russia, Evgeni Malkin. The thought of any of these guys thinking I'm beautiful was such a compliment.
"I can handle him." I said following Beau up the stairs. We made our way down stairs.When we got to the bottom floor I stopped before the long hallway ahead of me. Beau noticed I had stopped walking and turned around to face me a concerned look on his face.
"Whats wrong Kay?" He asked cocking his head to the side.
I took a deep breath. I didn't want to sound like an idiot in front of this NHL player.
"Does this hallway take us past the visitors dressing room?" I asked looking down at the ground. After a couple of seconds I looked up and saw Beau smiling.
"What?" I said a smile growing on my face.
"You're just like Sid." Beau said. "Not to worry there is a back entrance we can take, same route Sid takes before the game."
"Really?" I said looking a little shocked.
"Yes and its not a big deal. We're used to Sid having his little superstitions." Beau said walking back toward me. I turned around and followed him. After I caught up to him he looked at me while we were walking.
"Do you mind if I ask why you do this?" Beau asked as we walked around the corner and came face to face with a big Penguins logo on painted gold double doors.
"Not a big deal. I started it when Maxime was in the minor leagues. Even before he was in the Quebec Major Junior League. I just always thought it was bad luck." I said feeling relieved to know Beau wasn't judging me on my superstitions. After a couple seconds of silence Beau got out his player card and flashed it on the sensor unlocking the dressing room doors.
"Ready?" He asked walking to the door and pulling on the handle opening the door to the locker room.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said sighing. In a couple seconds I will be in the presence of greatness, it was really intimidating to think about. I couldn't wait to meet everyone, but I was afraid. What if they didn't like me? I didn't want to embarrass my brother. I took a deep breath and walked through the doors of the Penguins dressing room.
