I have been living in Chicago for about a month now. My new apartment was on Lakeshore Drive and I had a corner view. I could see the lake and the city. I was also on the 30th floor. Cassie and I were going out to a nice dinner tonight. My schedule was about to get really busy again with the season starting. I would have to travel with the team to most of the games, go to practices, and go to all the home games. I came home from my last day before training camp around 5. We had spent the day just going over what all would be happening this next week for training camp. I ran through the shower, dried my hair, and re-did my makeup. My hair is dark brown and naturally straight. It wont hold curls or anything so I just straighten it even more. I wore a black dress that stopped a little above my knees with black heels. I put my money, phone, and keys in my clutch and left. I hailed a cab and met Cassie outside the restaurant. Luckily she made reservations. The line was out the door and the wait was at least an hour. After we were seated and had ordered, we got to catching up more.
"I can't beleive you get to work with the Blackhawks. To be a physical therapist for them." she said.
I took a sip of my wine. "Nothings going to happen. Its my dream job, and I'm not going to do anything to lose it." I said.
"Well what if its not against policy?" she asked.
I laughed and shook my head. "I'm sure it is, and even if it wasn't, none of them would be interested in me."
"Anyone would be lucky to have you, Chels." she said. I just shook my head and our conversation moved on. Once dinner was over, we said our goodbyes and got into our taxis. As soon as I got home I changed, took my makeup off, brushed my teeth and went to bed.

The next day I woke up, ate breakfast, and got ready. I was given new Blackhawks workout pants and the t-shirt everyone was given for training camp. I wore a little make up and left my hair down. I left and drove to the United Center. There would be a little ceremony kicking off training camp. When I got there, I went inside and met up with the rest of the medical staff. We would be introduced during the ceremony. I was becoming pretty good friends with all of them too. They were older than me by at least 5 years, but still. I was the only new person on the medical staff this year. I made my way through the UC into the locker room. I met up with Justin, who I was closest to on the medical team. We stood by our area in the locker room and waited for all the players, coaches, and everyone else who needed to be there to get there. Once everyone had arrived, Coach Q came in and talked to everyone to get us ready for the week. We was also introducing the new people of the organization. There wasn't many apart from me. After calling out a few names, it was my turn.
"And on our medical staff, Chelsea Adams." Q announced and gestured to me. I smiled to everyone and gave a small wave. He called out one more person and then it was time for the ceremony thing. It was just everyone being introduced to a crowd. Once that was over, we made our way back to training room. Justin and I were assigned to recording everyone's stamina and listening to their hearts and lungs. While I was doing that, I got to talk and meet everyone on the team. They were all really nice and funny. The last person I worked with was Jonathan Toews.
"Well everything sounds okay, and your stamina is great." I said taking off my stethoscope and filling everything out on my clipboard.
"Awesome" he said, smiling at me. I smiled back and handed him all his paperwork. He took it then made his way out of the room. Before he left though he turned and to me.
"and welcome to the team Chelsea," he said
"Thanks," I said "and Chels. Call me Chels."
He smiled at me then said, "Alright, Chels, and call me Jon. See you tomorrow." With that, he walked out and I was done for the day. I grabbed my stuff and left the United Center. Before I went home, I went to the Grocery store. When I got to my building and up to my apartment, I had trouble with my keys. Then, someone was coming out of there apartment a few down from mine. Before I looked up, I said "Hey, uh, could you help me out? My hands are kind-" I looked up and saw Jon. He smirked then made his way over to me. He took the bags and I was able to find the right key and get it in the door.
"Thanks." I said, smiling and opening the door for him.
"No problem. Where do you want these?" he asked.
"Just on the counter by the fridge" I said, following him into my kitchen. He set the bags down and I did the same.
"I didnt know you lived in my building." he said turning to face me.
"Ive only lived here for about a month. I just moved here from Pittsburgh."
"Ahh. So the Pens?" he asked
"Well I used to live here, I moved when I was 16, so a little bit of both."
"Do you wanna go out to dinner with me?" he asked, it surprised me. I looked up at him
"Sorry. Too much, Ill just go then" he said walking away and blushing a bit.
"No, no. I want to, it just surprised me." I said smiling and putting my hand on his arm.
"Oh. good" he said, smiling.
"Let me change and put these up real quick, and then we'll go." I said. "Just make yourself at home, there's drinks in the fridge." I said walking back to my bedroom. I changed into jean shorts and a long sleeve black Polo t-shirt with red toms. I came back out and put up the groceries. Jon was sitting on one of the bar stools at my island doing something on his phone.
"You ready?" I asked, throwing the empty bags away.
"Yeah." he said smiling and getting up. I grabbed my keys, phone, and wallet and we left. He led me to his car and we pulled out into the Chicago streets.
