Discovery

My heart dropped when I saw Bebe standing in the middle of the livingroom. Oh shoot, I'm late.
I swallowed. "Hey..." I smiled to cover up my guilt for leaving.
"Don't smile at me, Tuukka." Bebe had a serious look on her face.
I dropped the smile and sighed. "I'm sorry, Bebe...I'm sorry for leaving..."
"Why did you leave?" Bebe crossed her arms.
"Because, um, I couldn't go to sleep and I didn't want to wake you up..."
"Where did you go?"
I shrugged. "I just went...Um, y'know, driving around town..."
"Oh. Well, how was it? Calm? Nice?" Bebe slowly walked up to me.
I gave Bebe a confused look. "Why you ask?"
Bebe stared deeply at my gray eyes. "Just wondering, y'know."
Then she kissed me.
Wow, surprising. Here she was, upset at me, and now she's kissing me like everything's perfectly fine.
But before I was able to place my hands on her, she pulled away from me.
"Aha!" she shouted.
Dang it.
"I knew it! I just knew it! You were drinking!"
"How--how did you know?"
"Your breath gave it away."
"Oh..." I looked down with shame.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Doing what?"
"Don't you know how worried I was about you when I wasn't able to find you?!" She pointed to herself. "You didn't even leave a note! Heaven knows where you were! Thank God you're alive!"
"I'm sorry...I-I-I--"
"Save it, Tuukka, it's fine. You're here and you're safe and that's all that matters." Bebe walked away into the kitchen.
"Ummm...Do you need help cooking bre--"
"No, it's fine! I got it!" Bebe shouted from the kitchen.
With a sigh, I lumbered to my office, the opposite direction from where Bebe was in the kitchen.
I sat on my desk, which had piles and piles of papers. So, I began to flip through the papers, rethinking what happened two hours ago.
I go to a bar...I have two beers...I meet the guy that's in my nightmare...Everything suddnely goes black...
I end up in a lab...and I escape by a speedboat...

I threw a pile of unnecessary papars into the black trash can that was next to my chair. But while I was throwing them away, I saw something unfamiliar on my right hand. I dropped the papers and examined my hand.
Silver metal covered somewhat of the back of my hand and wrist and my knuckles. My veins that were covered by the metal looked like they were wires.
Okay...now I'm starting to look like a robot...
I tried to scratch it off, but it was like as if it was part of my skin.
I began to freak out a little. This is not good, something's wrong with my hand...
"Bebe!" I shouted as I fast-walked into the kitchen.
Bebe gave me a serious look with those green eyes of her's; she was holding a spatula. "Yes?"
"Ummm...there's something wrong with my hand..." I felt like a little kid telling my parents that I got a scratch.
"I'm busy, as you can see...I can look at it later, though."
"But..."
"Why don't ask one of your friends?"
Phone a friend. That's right... "Oh yea, I completely forgot about them!" I chuckled a bit. "Thanks for remeding me!" I walked out of the kitchen.
"Wait, Tuukka!" Bebe shouted. "I still love you even though it might seem like I hate you and can care less about you at the moment...I just want to let you know about that."
"Okay, thanks, Bebe." I called back to her. "You were starting to make me rethink if marrying you was a good idea."
"TUUKKA!"
I began to laugh. "I'm only joking, I'll never do that!"
"I know, I know..." Bebe began to laugh.
Good, at least she's still in high spirits.
I walked back to my office and plopped into my chair. "Okay...let's see..." I pulled out my iPhone and called the smartest friend I had of all: Antti.
I waited for thirty seconds until he told me to leave a message after the beep. "Ugh, come on, Nemo, now is the perfect time to pick up..," I muttered to myself as I redialed his number. Same result.
I tried three more times until I gave up. Then I called another friend who is kinda smart: Jonathan.
He picked up after the phone rang two times.
"Hello," Jonathan said from the other line.
"Hey, Jonny! Is now a good time to talk to you?"
"Well, I'm right now trying on suits and Jaclyn's trying out dresses...We're going on a date tonight!"
"Oh, but don't you have like a bunch of other suits?"
"Tuuks! Don't you know the rules! Never EVER wear the same suit twice! Every date is new, and so is the attire. It would be a total disgrace if I've ever done that. Jaclyn would die."
"Oh...sorry...It's just that Bebe and I don't do that."
"Well, y'know--" Jonathan said something off the phone. "--Sorry, like what I was saying: each couple runs differently."
"Yea, that's okay..."
"So, what is it that you wanted to tell me?"
I was having second thought on telling Jonathan about my hand; he was in a public place and that would just be straight up awkward. But at the same time, I didn't want to say 'nothing' and make the phone call useless.
"What was I calling for?...Oh yea, that's right! Do you know where Nemo's at?"
"Niemi? Oh, I don't know--I hadn't talked to him in like a century."
Hyperbole. Jonathan is not even forty yet.
"Oh..."
"Why'd you ask?"
"Well, um, because--" I heard Jonathan say something off the phone.
"I'm sorry," Jonathan said. "Continue?"
"I can hang up, y'know..."
"No, no, it's fine. Continue."
Okay. "Well, because I called him and he's not picking up."
"Well, maybe he's sleeping...Wait, what time is it, anyways?"
"I don't know, use that Rolex watch of yours."
"Oh yea...It's five past nine...That's early for a phone call..."
"Says the person that is trying on suits."
"Hey, I'm trying to beat the crowd! It's nice right now!"
"Yea, well, maybe I can call him later."
"That'll be a good idea. I'll talk to you later! Bye!"
"Okay, bye."
Then I hung up.
I thought for a moment of who I can call next. That's right.
I dialed my youngest friend of all, Patrick.
"Hey, Tuuks! How are you?" Patrick asked me.
"Good, and you?"
"I'm doing awesome. Just doin' my archary. What are you doing?"
"Nothing."
"Then you're dead."
I chuckled at bit. "Good one, Kaner, good one. Had you talked to Nemo recently?"
"That old dude?"
"He's not old, Patrick, he's just turned thirty."
"Oh well, no..."
"Oh, okay then...Thank you anyways for that."
"No prob, Tuuks. See ya later."
"Alright, bye." Then I hung up.
I ran out of people to call and there is one thing I got from both of them: they had not talked to Antti recently.
Great.
"Tuukka! Breakfast is ready!"
Perfect timing.
I got up and walked into the dining room, which is right next to the kitchen. Bebe made pancakes, eggs, and sausages.
"Whoa, Bebe! You went all out! This is awesome!" I sat next to her and began to serve myself.
"I like cooking. Takes my mind off of things." Bebe smiled at me.
I smiled back. I loved it when she smiles at me.
"So did you talk to your friends?"
"Yea, but I got nothing out of them."
"Nothing?" Bebe scooped eggs onto her plate.
"Well, Antti didn't pick up, and Jonathan was suit shopping, and Patrick was doing his archary..." I served some pancakes.
"Oh...So now that I'm avaliable, what is it that you wanted to tell me?"
"Errr...this..." I showed Bebe my right hand. I felt mortified when she gave it a weird what-the-heck-is
-that-? look.
"Hmmm...that's interesting...Any pain?"
I shook my head.
"Okay, then, let's just leave it alone and see what happens." Bebe flashed me a smile.
"Alright." I served the rest of the food that I wanted and began to eat.

After I was done eating, I reached over the plate of sasuages to grab the pitcher of orange juice, when I notice that my hand was back to normal.
"Hey, Bebe, look..." I placed the pitcher next to my plate and showed Bebe my hand.
"Huh...that's interesting, it's gone..."
"Yea..." I looked at Bebe.
Bebe looked up at me. "Had you been thinking about it while you were eating?"
"No..."
"Had you been worrying about those nightmares and what you had done while you were eating?"
"No..."
Bebe turned away from me, running her fingers through her long, black hair, thinking hard. "Wait...I think I got it..." Then she slapped me across the face.
I was shocked with pain buzzing through my cheek."WHAT THE--"
"Shhh..." Bebe placed a thin finger on my lips and grabbed my hand and exmained it again. "I knew it." She pulled back from me so that I could see my hand; the metal stuff was back.
"How...?"
"It seems like when you are worried, nervous, or mad, this thing comes. But when you are at peace, happy, or joyful, then it is gone."
"You're smart."
"Of course I am! What do you think I am, stupid?"
I chuckled at bit. "Maybe-- No, no, I'm just kidding."
"Nice one there, Tuuks. So just be happy, okay? No worrying."
I nodded my head. "Okay. Gotcha." I poured my orange juice into my cup and continued on eating. But then my fork became alive and jumped out from my hand, skidding onto the floor.
"Whoops. I'll get it." I grunted as I leaned down from my chair to reach the fork, but it was inches away from my reach.
"You know...you can get up..," Bebe told me.
"Yea..." I looked back up at Bebe. "I don't really feel like doing that--" Then I heard a loud CLANK!
I sat back up and felt something weird sticking on the back of my abnormal hand. I turned it around and there was my fork, perpendicular to my hand. "What the..." My voice faded.
"Well--" Bebe pulled the fork out from my hand. "--it seems like your hand is magentic as well."
"But that can't be..." Then I heard another clank. This time, Bebe's spoon stuck to my hand. I began to chuckle with embarssment.
"Well then! Can I trade your fork for my spoon?" Bebe asked.
"Certainly!" I pulled off the spoon, which was totally obvious that it was held by a magnetic force and traded it for my fork.
Now I have a silver hand and magnetic powers.
What next?
