Chapter Fifteen

Curses were being screamed all over the room and we were trying to get away as fast as we could.

“Where is it?” Allie panicked and I shook my head not knowing.

“What the hell was that?” James yelled as we were looking through the window in the kitchen door.

“A god damn spider! Who the hell sends a spider as a present?!” Geno yelled and I got the creeps just thinking about it.

When I tore the wrapping paper off, I saw that it was an empty tissue box, but there was a hole in the middle. A tarantula crawled right out of the box and onto my hand. I screamed and flung my arm around until it fell off. I felt Sidney grab me and pull me out of the room, I was terrified of spiders, they scared me so much that I freeze and they only person that would pull a stunt like that was Kyle.

‘…He knows…’ I thought and then looked over towards Allie and grabbed her arm, “He knows. He’s here.”

Allie’s eyes widened and I shook my head and snuck past the boys and headed towards the stairs and ran up to the apartment.

“Julie wait!” I heard Allie yell and follow after me.

‘…He knows where I am! We have to get out of here!...’ I thought and then ran into my room and headed for my closet.

“Julie stop!” Allie yelled and she grabbed my arm and spun me around.

“Allie, he knows! He knows where Josh and I are! He knows about you, he knows about Mildred and Harold and Conner! Hell he probably even knows about Sidney and the guys!” I yelled and then sat on my bed and started to cry, “I should have known when I got the package, I don’t know why it didn’t click.”

“Who knows, Julie? What are you talking about?” I heard and then looked up to see Sidney in the doorway looking at me, “What’s going on?”

“You need to tell him, Julie, he can help,” Allie said and then walked out of the room.

“The guys are taking care of the spider. They got their egos broken when they screamed like girls, so they wanted to repair them,” he said and I nodded my head, “Julie, please tell me, Allie is right, I can help.”

“You can’t, Sidney, I’m sorry, but I need to leave. Josh and I need to leave,” I said and then stood up and walked over towards the closet.

“No!”

“No?” I asked and looked back to see Sidney looking at me.

“Julie, let me help you! I’ve known from the beginning that there was something from your past that haunted you!”

“You knew?”

“Well I don’t know the details, but how you acted around me; how you flinch every time someone touches you. Julie, who are you running from?”

I broke down. Sidney wrapped his arms around me and then we sat on the bed. I leaned against the wall and brought my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, “Kyle.”

“Who’s Kyle?”

“My ex, Josh’s father,” I said and looked down ashamed.

“Julie look at me,” he said and I didn’t, “Julie, come on,” I looked up towards him and he sat in front of me and wiped my tears that had fallen, only for more to fall, “What happened?”

I took a deep breath and then choked back a sob, “Kyle and I use to be happy together,” I told Sidney everything, from the party, to him hurting me, to Josh being born, to Kyle breaking in and hurting my family, to my time on the road running from the monster, “I chose Pittsburgh because I never thought that he would figure out that I was in the city. I usually hid out in towns or the country.”

I looked at Sidney to see that he was deep in thought, “And you think this is him?”

“We know it’s him,” I looked up and Sidney turned around to see Allie in the doorway looking absolutely horrified, “Julie, it is him,” Sidney stood up and walked over towards Allie and she handed him a piece of paper, “The guys caught the spider, and Geno found this attached to the box.”

Sidney opened the paper and stared at it, pure anger washed over his face and he crumbled it up. I sat up and walked over towards him and placed my hand on his arm, he was shaking, “Did the guys see this?”

“They did,” Allie said and Sidney sighed, “They know.”

I was confused, I pried Sidney’s fingers opened and grabbed the paper and opened it up to see that it was a picture, “This is-“

“From our first date,” Sidney said and I nodded my head.

I was sitting on the counter and Sidney and I were kissing, ‘…I knew I saw someone!...’

“Turn it around,” Allie said and I did and Sidney stood over me because he didn’t see that.

I gasped as I read ‘Peak a Boo! I See You! You Can’t Hide From Me Julie!’ on the paper and Sidney took the paper. My hand was over my mouth and tears were pouring out of my eyes.

-Sidney-

“Sidney, we have to hide her!” Allie said and I nodded my head.

I stared down at the picture and growled as I crumbled it up and shoved it into my pocket, “Julie, get packed,” she looked at me confused, “I’m going to take you somewhere safe.”

I walked out of the room and saw Josh standing in the doorway of the apartment.

“Can I see my Mommy?” he asked and I nodded my head and he ran in.

I walked down the stairs and looked to see that the guys had a contained and had the spider trapped inside. I glared at it and then sighed.

“Sid, is she all right?” Marc asked and I shook my head.

“I take it, she told you everything?” Tyler asked and I nodded my head.

“What’s going on? We just know that someone’s after her and the little guy,” Geno said and I sighed and cracked my knuckles.

I told them everything that she told me and they were just as pissed as I was.

“Where are you going to hide her?” Marc asked.

“My place, she’ll be fine there,” I said and the guys nodded their heads, “I wanna murder this guy.”

“Sid, we need to call the police,” Marc said and I nodded my head.

“I know man, but Julie said no cops, she said that he has something,” I answered only getting myself even more worked up.

“Man, how can people be so messed up in the head?” James asked and I shook my head.

“What are you going to do? You can’t watch her twenty four/ seven,” I turned my head to see Allie’s father standing there, “That girl needs to get the hell out of dodge, do what she does best and run.”

“I’m not running!” I saw Julie appear in the stairwell, “I’m so sick of running,” she said and looked down at Josh who was standing in front of her, “We’re sick of running.”

“Julie, you need to call the police!” Marc said and I looked back at him.

“I can’t! I don’t know what he has, but he says he has something of mine and I don’t want to risk that he’s bluffing,” she said and I clenched my fists.

“Sweetie, you’ve been running for seven long years, let these boys help you,” Mildred said obviously not getting the memo that she was.

“She is Mom, Sidney is going to take her and Josh for a while,” Allie said and I looked at Julie to see that she was looking down and holding her son.

“He could follow you,” she said and I smirked.

“Let him, I’d like to see him get through my front door and last two seconds,” I said.

“What about your games Sidney? I could never ask you to give up your career for me,” she said and I sighed.

“Well you guys come to all the home games, and then the away games-“

“I’ll stay with you,” Allie said and I looked over towards her and nodded my head.

“This can work, Julie, we can protect you. You don’t have to run anymore,” I said and she walked over towards me and stood in front of me.

“You would do this for me? Risk your safety? All of your safeties?” she asked and then looked around.

“Of course,” Marc said.

“Definitely,” Matt and Tyler said.

“Hell yeah!” Geno said and James smiled and nodded his head.

“Anything,” Allie and Mildred said.

Julie looked at me and I smiled towards her and placed my hand on her shoulder, “You’re going to be safe.”
