Chapter Sixteen

-Julie-

“Sidney I said no!” I yelled while in his car and heading towards his house in the next town.

“Julie please, I’m only saying this because he’s stalking and threatening you and your son! You need to call the police!”

“But what if he really isn’t bluffing? What if he has something?”

“What could he have?”

“I don’t know,” I said and then sighed, “All right, we’ll call the police.”

“Thank you,” Sidney said as he pulled into his driveway and opened the garage door.

“I need to call Josh’s school and tell him that he won’t be there for a while,” I said and Sidney nodded his head.

I got out of the car and saw that Josh was asleep in the back and smiled. I went to get him, be Sidney opened the door and smiled towards me, “I’ll get him.”

“Thank you,” I said and then grabbed mine and Josh’s bags from the back of the Rover. I closed the door and then walked over towards Sidney who was carrying Josh and smiled when I saw that he had his little arms wrapped around Sidney’s shoulders and his head was on his shoulder.

We walked into the house and I looked around in awe because the place was nice. I followed Sidney up the stairs and down the hall where there was a bedroom. Sidney laid Josh down on the bed and I placed his bags next to the room and then looked towards Sidney who was holding out his hand. I took it and then followed him as he walked me to the next bedroom that looked to be another guest bedroom.

“You can stay in this room if you’d like,” he said and I nodded my head and walked in.

“Thank you, Sidney,” I said and then reached up and kissed his check, “You’re risking a lot for me.”

“No one should be treated like this,” he said and then placed his hands on my shoulders, “You’re going to be safe here, Julie,” I looked at the clock to see that it was after ten at night and I was tired, “Get some sleep, we’ll call the police in the morning,” Sidney said and I nodded my head and then walked over towards the bed, “Night Julie.”

“Night, Sidney.”

-Sidney-

“Thank you, officers,” I said as I looked at Julie who had her arms wrapped around her knees that were pulled up to her chest.

“We’ll be in touch,” the one officer said and I nodded my head and then walked the officers out of the door.

I sighed and then rubbed my face as I walked over towards Julie who looked like she wanted to cry. I sat down next to her and wrapped my arms around her and she laid her head on my shoulder.

“What if this was a bad idea?” she asked and I sighed and looked at her.

“It’ll be all right, Julie. It’ll be all right,” I said and then moved my body so that I was facing her, “They’re going to get him.”

She nodded her head and then placed her hands on my chest. I placed my hands on her waist and then moved closer to place my lips against hers. Julie moved her hands up to my neck and I pulled her body closer to me. There was a knock at the door and I cursed and saw Julie give a small smile.

“I’ll be right back,” I said as Julie backed up and nodded her head.

I walked towards the door and saw that some of the guys were at my door, “Hey guys, not at good-“

“Is she all right?” Geno asked as he walked past me.

I sighed and looked to see that Kris, James and Matt were here. I heard a car door close and saw Marc was coming and had brought his wife, Veronique with him.

“Hey man, we saw the police pull out, does that mean that she called?” he asked and I nodded my head.

I saw another car pull up and saw that it was Tyler’s and he, Allie along with Conner and a dog were here. Tyler nodded his head towards me and I moved out of the way so that they could come in. Something caught my eye and I called Kris and Matt over.

“What’s up man?”

“Don’t make it look suspicious, but do you see that black car across the street?” I asked with my back towards the car and the guys peaked over my shoulder and then nodded their heads, “I think I see someone in that car, it was here when the police showed up too.”

“You want us to say hi?” Kris asked and I nodded my head, “All right. Hey James! Come on, we’re going on an errand!”

“I owe ya,” I said and he nodded his head.

The three of them snuck out the back door and climbed over the fence, sneaking through my neighbor’s yard and then doing their thing. I walked over towards the couch to see that Julie was talking with Marc’s wife in French. I had no idea what they were saying and then looked over towards the guys to see that they were looking that them.

“I’m still trying to figure out what they’re saying! I heard Russian in there,” Geno said and we all laughed.

“Where’d Kris, Matt and James go?”

“Went to run an errand,” I said and they nodded their heads.

I heard a pounding at the front door and everyone’s head snapped back and I looked at the guys and nudged my head towards the door. We wall walked over and I opened the door to see Kris and Matt holding some guy while James was holding a camera.

“Brought you a present, Sid!” Kris said and I smirked.

“And it’s not even my birthday!” I said and then moved out of the way.

“What’s going on?” Julie asked as she walked over.

“This guy’s been tailing us since last night,” I said Kris sat him down on a chair and when the guy was about to get up, Kris shoved him down again, “In fact, I’ve seen his car around a lot lately.”

“Julie, is this Kyle?” Marc asked and I looked back towards her and she shook her head ‘no’.

“I don’t know who he is,” she said and I looked towards James.

“What’s that?” I asked and James handed the camera over and I looked at it, going through seeing that all the pictures were of Julie, some with the guys, some with myself, ‘…He’s been following us for a while…’

“What is it?” Marc asked and I handed him the camera.

“Who are you?” I asked the guy and he looked at me.

“Non of your concern.”

“It is my concern when you’re stalking us.”

“Sid, there’s a picture of the little man at school,” Marc said and I heard Julie gasp.

“I’ll ask you again,” I said as I took a step closer, “Who are you?”

“Come on, Man. Do you really want to piss off a bunch of hockey players?” Kris asked as he put his hands on the guy’s shoulders and I saw the man smirk.

“My name is Greg Matthews, I’m a PI,” he said and I stood up straight and then watched as he pulled a badge out of his jacket.

“Well that was unexpected,” Marc said.

“What’s a PI?” James asked.

“Private investigator,” I answered, “Why are you following Julie?”

“I was hired to.”

“By who?”

“Personal information, I can’t identify my client,” he said and I sighed frustrated.

“Is his name Kyle? Kyle Mullery?” Julie asked as she walked in-between Tyler and Marc. The guy looked up towards her and sighed, “He is, isn’t he? Kyle is your client. That’s how he always knew where I was.”

“I can’t identify my client,” he said and then sighed.

“What does he have you do?” I asked.

“What?”

“What does he have you do?!” I yelled and the guy looked at me.

“He has me follow Ms. McHale and report back to him every other day,” he said and I sighed.

“So that was you in the arena two weeks ago? You were the one who took our picture when we were the only ones there?” Julie asked as she stood next to me and he nodded his head.

“Where is he” Kris asked and the guy shook his head, “WHERE IS HE?!”

“I don’t know, I only talk to him on the phone and then email the pictures to him,” the guy explained talking fast.

“We’re not getting anywhere with him,” Kris said and then cracked his knuckles and I smirked.

Someone’s phone was ringing and everyone was looking to see whose it was, and Julie looked and saw that it was hers. She looked at her phone and then looked up towards me, “It’s him.”
