Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Chapter Twenty

"This feel better?" Julie asked Geno and he nodded his head.

Geno had his arm a little burnt in the fire, and the nurses had given him some cream to put on the marks, but he it hurt him to reach up, so Julie offered to put it on him.

"So was it really her?" she asked and I looked at her and Geno sighed, "She's blonde, or at least the last time I saw her she was."

"This was a brunette, but it looked like she recently dyed it," he said and Julie looked up and I saw a little bit of sparkle in her eye.

"He told me that he recorded her voice, that he didn't really have her," she said and I sighed.

"The guys should be back with her any moment now," I said and Julie nodded her head and then started to rub more of the cream onto Geno.

"I asked you not to get hurt," Julie said as she looked at the ground and her hair covered her face, "You guys risked too much for me."

"Hey, we told you we would help, so we're helping," Geno said as he looked at me and then at Julie.

"What if you three died in there? Do you know how much guilt would be on me?! I would never be able to forgive myself!" she yelled and then leaned her head on his arm, "Crazy Russian."

Geno smirked and then said something in Russian and Julie looked up and sighed.

-Julie-

I heard the front door open and then people walk into the house. I looked up from helping Geno put his shirt back on to see Matt and Kris walk in with a girl in-between them. My eyes widened when I saw her and I stood up.

"Andy?" I asked and she nodded her head. I gasped and then ran over towards her and wrapped my arms around her, "He told me that he lied about having you."

"He's had me for two months," she said and I looked at her and started to cry, "Je ne t'ay pas vu depuis sept ans, grande soeur!" (I haven't seen you in seven years, big sister)

I smiled towards her because I remembered that she was able to speak French too, "Il a été beaucoup trop long, petite sœur!" (It's been far too long, baby sister)

"Où est mon neveu?" (Where's my nephew) she asked and I looked towards the ground and then shook my head.

"II le prit," (He took him) I whispered and Andy gasped and then placed her hands on my shoulders.

"We'll find him, Jewels," she said and I looked up towards her and nodded my head.

"We have to," I said and then looked over towards Sidney who nodded his head.

-Sidney-

It was late at night and Julie and her sister were asleep upstairs in one of my guest bedrooms. Julie wanted to stay awake just in case Josh came home, but she was falling asleep and I told her to go to bed. The two sisters haven't seen each other in seven years and they were sleeping in the same room, making sure that the other doesn't disappear again.

I sighed as I made a pot of coffee and saw at my kitchen counter. I heard someone walk up behind me and saw that it was Tyler. He nodded towards me and then poured himself a cup of coffee and sighed.

"You weren't kidding when you told us that her past was bad," I said as I took a sip of my coffee.

"I kind of wish I was," he said and I nodded my head, "Sid, this is crazy. Geno, James and Matt almost got killed today! How far are you going to go to make sure this girl that you've known for what- Two weeks!"

I looked up and sighed towards him, "How long did you know Allie before you asked her out?"

"Don't bring my relationship into this! Allie doesn't have a freakin' psycho path chasing after her!" Tyler yelled and I told him to keep it down, "This girl is too much baggage!"

"I know that! She told us that!" I said and looked at him, "She told YOU that! So why complain about it now when you're already in this mess?"

Tyler sighed and then rubbed the back of his neck, "Sid, come on man, someone's going to get seriously hurt. We're just hockey players, we're not superheroes."

"I'm going to help this girl," I said and then stood up and looked towards Tyler, "With or without your help."

"Sid!"

"Her kid was kidnapped, Tyler! We both already said that we would help her! We both knew what we were getting ourselves into when we agreed to this! No one's forcing you to stay to help her!" I said annoyed and Tyler sighed and shook his head.

"You're a real shit head you know that! You're going to get yourself killed, Crosby!" Tyler said and then put his cup down and walked past me.

I heard him stop and then turned around to see that he was looking at Julie who was standing in the doorway. He looked at her and then sighed, he whispered something to her and she nodded her head and he walked past him. I heard Tyler walk out the front door and Julie walked over towards me.

"He's right," she said and I looked at her and shook my head.

"Don't start with that," I said and she stood in front of me.

"Sid, this is too much for you guys, I asked too much of you," she said and I shook my head.

"Julie, I promised that I would help you," I said and then pressed my lips against hers, "And I'm going to keep my promise."

"Andy and I are leaving in the morning, we're going to track him down and find my son," she said and I looked at her.

"Julie come on!"

"No, Sidney! Geno, James and Matt were almost killed in a fire! Veronique, Allie and Conner were tied up, and Allie was knocked out cold because Kyle hit her because she was trying to save me! People are getting hurt around me, and I can't take it because it's all my fault!"

"How is it your fault Julie?" I yelled, not really meaning to sound that harsh.

"Because I didn't keep running," she said and then looked at the ground, "I stayed and put you all in danger."

"Julie," I said and then picked up her face, forcing her to look at me, "This is not your fault!"

"It is my fault!" she said and I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into me, "Sidney, Tyler's right! I can't ask you to do anymore!"

"Don't listen to Tyler, Julie! Just don't, I'm doing this because I want to! I'm doing this to protect you!"

"And who's going to protect you?!" she asked and then placed her hand on my cheek, "Sidney, you're not Superman! You're a hockey player!"

"Don't worry about me," I said and she shook her head and then kissed my cheek.

"Let me protect you," she said and then started to pull away.

"How?" I asked as I placed my hands on her waist and held her there, "Julie, how will you protect me without running?" she looked at the ground and I stood up and she took a step back, "You said you were sick of running!"

"I am!"

"So then don't run! Stay here and let me help you!" I said as her back hit the wall and I stood in front of her, "Let me protect you, Julie! We'll find Josh!"

"Sidney," she whispered and then placed her hands on my chest and I bent down and pressed my lips against hers.

My hands were on her waist and I rubbed her sides, I placed her on top of the counter and then started to unbutton her shirt.

-Julie-

I woke up the next morning to find that I was laying in Sidney's bed with his arms wrapped around my waist. I looked at the clock and saw that it was about five in the morning and I figured it was time for me to hit the road. I snuck out of his grip and then walked into the bedroom that Andrea was in and woke her up. I told her to be quiet and we packed our bags and left the house quietly. I had called a cab that was going to take us back to the shop because that was where my car was and we were going to hit the road to find where my son was.

-Sidney-

My alarm was going off and I sighed and then turned the alarm off and slowly sat up. I looked around my room and saw that I was by myself and then I held my breath to see if I could hear any movement in the house, but I couldn't. I cursed and then jumped out of bed and ran to the guest bedroom and saw that it was empty and all of Julie's bags were gone. I ran throughout the house and saw that she was just gone.

"Shit!"
