Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby) 039:

Chapter Thirty Nine

-Sidney-

I woke up to hear the apartment door being pounded on and seeing that I was lying on the couch. I looked at my watch to see that it was just after eight in the morning and I heard the pounding continue.

“All right, I’m coming!” I heard and then stood up and walked over towards the door to see that Tyler was there, “What?”

“Geno called me, we’re late for practice!” he said and my eyes widened and I ran out of the room and followed Tyler down the stairs and out to the car.

We hopped into our cars and sped down the streets of Pittsburgh to get to the arena. I completely forgot about the morning practice that started twenty minutes ago, ‘…Coach is gunna kill us…’ I thought as I pulled into the parking lot and grabbed my bag of the trunk of my car and rushed inside the arena to see that at least half the team was on the ice.

“Where’s everyone else?” I asked as I looked at everyone to see that Coach wasn’t even there, ‘…What the hell?...’

“You’re here!” James said and skated over towards me.

“Where’s everyone?” I repeated.

“It’s an optional practice,” Marc said as he skated over.

“Dude, I was sleeping, what the hell?!” Tyler said and then threw his bag on the ground and he looked just as tired as I was.

“What’s wrong with you two?” Matt asked as he skated over.

“Long night,” Tyler said as he sat on his bag and rubbed his face.

“Long, sleepless night,” I said and then leaned against the boards.

“Why?” Geno asked as he skated over towards us.

“Allie didn’t sleep well last night, kept on tossing and turning, I don’t know something about those two guys-“

“What two guys?” Marc asked as he looked at us.

We told the guys about the agents and they looked at us skeptical. I nodded my head agreeing that it was weird and then I told them what Julie and I were doing all night.

“Wait? What?” Tyler asked and I looked at him and nodded my head.

“I don’t know, my eyes were all messed up because I was tired, but Julie was saying that they were like talking in code, but I don’t know. I was just comforting her,” I said and he nodded his head.

“Women,” Kris snorted and I laughed and ran my fingers through my hair.

My phone rang and I looked down to see that it was the shop, I stared at it confused and then answered it, “Hello?”

“Sidney?”

“Yeah?”

“It’s Mildred.”

“Oh, Millie, what’s up?” I asked and then looked towards Tyler to see he was looking at me.

“Have you seen Allie and Julie?” she asked and I was confused.

“No, Tyler and I ran out of the shop because we were late to practice,” I said and then heard her telling someone that we hadn’t seen them.

“Oh, I saw you two running out of here like a bat out of hell, but we can’t find them, and Josh was never woken up to get ready for school,” she said and bit my lip trying to think of something, “Harold had to take him to school late. I tried to call both Allie and Julie but I couldn’t get a hold of them.”

“They didn’t leave a note?”

“No,” she said and I sighed.

“I’m on my way over,” I said and then saw Tyler stand up.

“All right, see you soon,” she said and I hung up the phone.

“What’s going on?”

“Allie and Julie are gone,” I said and Tyler’s eyes widened.

“What if something is going on?” he asked and I shook my head.

“I don’t know,” I said and then sighed, “We need to look at that tape.”

“You want some help?” Marc asked and I looked at the guys.

“Can you read lips?” I asked and they shrugged their shoulders.

“We can try,” Matt said and I nodded my head.

“Come on.”

“Gotta save those damsels in distress!” Kris yelled and I sighed.

“We don’t know that yet!” Tyler yelled as he and I headed outside and the others walked into the locker to change, they were going to meet us over there.

When we got back to the shop Tyler and I walked into the kitchen to see that Mildred was pacing back and forth looking worried.

“It’ll be all right, Millie,” Tyler said as we walked into the office and looked at the monitor.

I turned the thing on and tried to look at the tape, but it was saying that there was nothing there, “What the hell?”

“What?” Tyler asked as he came up behind me.

“It’s gone,” I said and then looked back towards him, “All the security footage is gone.”

“What?!” he asked surprised.

“I swear, Julie and I were down here for five hours looking at this damn footage!” I yelled and then sighed.

“Something wrong?” Mildred asked and I looked at her.

“Millie, do you do anything with the security footage?” I asked and she nodded her head.

“Every morning we change the disc and then put it in storage,” she explained and I sighed in relief.

“Can I see yesterdays?” I asked and she nodded her head and then walked away only to come back a few minutes later saying that yesterdays wasn’t in storage, “What?”

“Allie does it every morning,” Mildred said and then gasped, “What if something happened to the girls? Those men-“

“I’m sure everything’s fine, Millie,” Tyler cooed and walked over towards Mildred and walked her away from the office.

My phone went off saying that I got a text form Marc saying that he and the guys were a few minutes away, ‘…I wonder if I can look at this morning’s tape?...’ I thought as I started to mess around on the monitor.

By the time the guys had shown up, Tyler calmed Mildred down and told her that they guys and I were going to figure everything out. I had moved the monitor out into the kitchen for all the guys to see and explained to them that yesterday’s tape was missing, but the only they had was this morning’s tape showing us that Allie had Julie by the arm and they were running out of the shop.

‘…Ok, this doesn’t look good…’ I thought as we went through the tap again and again and again.

I remember about the second camera and changed it to see that it was facing the shop.

“Can you zoom in?” Kris asked and I nodded my head and zoomed in seeing Allie and Julie talking about something and Julie was pointing to something that was in Allie’s hand.

“That the tape?” Tyler asked and I sighed.

“Looks it.”

“What does Allie not want us to see?” he asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

“There no audio?” Marc asked and I shook my head, “Of course, that would be too easy.”

I snorted and then tried to zoom in on the mouths to see if I could slow the recording down, but that’s what I was telling my mind to do, my fingers were listening.

“Do you have any idea what you’re doing?” Kris asked and I shook my head.

“I’m a hockey player, not a freaking computer nerd!” I said and they laughed.

“Maybe Millie knows how to do this shit,” Matt said and I shook my head.

“She said that they usually left it up to Allie,” I said and he sighed.

“We’ll just have to figure this out on our own, boys,” Marc said and I sighed.

“Easier said than done,” Tyler said and I nodded my head.

After about an hour of playing with the buttons, I think I figured everything out and actually managed to do what my mind was asking my fingers to do. I slowed the tape down and Tyler grabbed a pen and paper, with all of us here, we were going to figure this out.

-Julie-

“Allie what’s going on?” I asked as she drove like a mad woman down the streets of Pittsburgh, “Allie if someone’s after you let me help! Allie say something!”

“Shut up, Julie! Please!” she said and then I sat back in my seat and was quiet.

From the moment I followed Allie down the stairs and watched as she walked into the office and took the security tape from the day before, to when she yelled at me and drug me out to her car, to now when she drove across Pittsburgh to some unknown destination, I was utterly confused. I was right when I told Sidney that Allie was in some sort of trouble, and I could bet my life that those ‘agents’ weren’t really agents.

Allie parked the car in some old warn down parking lot and I looked to see that we were the only ones here.

“Get down,” Allie said and I looked at her.

“What’s going-“

“Just get down, Julie!” she said and I nodded my head and then climbed into the backseat of her car and got down low, “Don’t come out until I tell you too, all right?”

“All right,” I said and she sighed and then looked forward.

“They’re here,” she muttered and I looked at her to see that she wasn’t even looking at me, “Please don’t do anything stupid, Julie,” she muttered trying to make it look like her lips weren’t moving.

“What’s going on, Allie?” I whispered but she ignored me and opened the door and then got out, ‘…Please don’t do something stupid, Allie…’ I thought and then sat up slowly and peaked my head up through the head seat to see that Allie was surrounded by three big guys, ‘…What kind of shit are you into, Allie?...’ I thought as I started to pat down my pockets, ‘…Nice time to forget you phone, Julie…’

I looked around the car and saw that Allie’s phone was sitting in the cup holder between the driver and passenger seats. I sighed and then slowly moved, remembering to keep low and reached for her phone. I grabbed it and then pointed it up and started to record this ‘meeting’ and then saw that one of the three guys were pointing towards the car.

“Shit,” I muttered as I saw as one guy was walking towards the car. I cursed and then turned around and went into text message and into contacts to send the video to Sidney’s phone and then saying it was from me.
